1) If I respec a relic weapon (to make different materia choices) do i have to refarm Alexandrite too?

2) I saw a shout in Mhor Done that said as far as damage goes weapon base damage > damage stat (i.e dex for bard for example) > det > crit hit rate

So if that true then if I had lets say an il100 weapon but wearing full il130 gear (except for the weapon), would my attack damage improve significantly once I got an il30 weapon? (by significantly I mean Ill see certain attacks going from 700 dmg average to 800 dmg average instead of just seeing something much less noticeable like going from 700 average to 725 or 750 average... after all a weapon base damage is supposed to be the most important damage stat according to that shout right?

Also if det is better than crit hit rate then if i have like 500 crit hit rate and only 300 det than all that crit hit rate is useless? (those numbers are just examples), if so does that apply to ALL jobs because I hear that for brd crit hit is more important for bloodletter procs (i believe that was said on this very board in fact) so in THAT scenario wouldnt that 500 crit hit rate but only 300 det still make a bard shine?

You can alter the material infused when ever you wish.

All you need is a clean blank scroll and the ink again (something you previous got). If I remember you just need sold and to resign up for that quest.

I cant remember the exact procedure, I had the link. You need to take the above to the Relic quest NPC (the advanced one near Girout?) one of his options will be to modify your scroll/relic. He will alter the blank scroll to be a copy of what your relic has, with that you can remove material and add what you want.

I did this, I altered my ACC which was cheap and farmed Lights till I had Determination material and Crit. I went back and altered about 4 times.

Even now I still have 3 ACC on mine and I may go back and add determination. You DONT need to farm atma all over again though you just need Sold.

Some one else may post a link about it though. I think you get the Scroll from the NPC by the Crafting Goblin near the big train station - Sorry my memory is rubbish. You can do it though so don't panic because I hit the same panic button and not many people were able to give me any response.

1. Alexandrite's are required to meld materia on your relic (stage doesn't matter)
2. You might see the difference during the progress of the encounter(battle text), using a parsing program will confirm the dmg increase of going from a 100 weapon to a 130 weapon

I don't know how much faith I would put in some random shout in game talking about stat weight (it might be only for 1 job), each job is different when it comes to stat weight. In your example no all that crit isn't useless for brd, it might be for another job that doesn't get procs off crit hits

As a rule weapon damage is about 6 to 7 times more contributory to dps than your primary stat is.

What this means is that if you sacrificed 1 point of weapon damage, you'd need (as a brd) 6 or 7 DEX to make up for that. As weapon damage is purely a function of item level, the best way to improve your dps is usually to upgrade your weapon's item level.

The other secondary stats vary per job. For non-blm dps right now (HW will probably change this), you're generally going to want: Acc to cap > det >= crit >>>>>>> skill speed.

BLM get use out of spell speed so the weights for them are a little different.

As a BRD you might also want to value crit a little higher than det because of how it affects Bloodletter. Like I said the secondary stats can vary, this is just generally how it works right now.

Yes. One for each materia you're replacing, just like before.

You can get alexandrite from anything that would have given you an alexandrite when you were working on novus by using any weapon from animus onward. So you can use a zeta on a fate and get an alexandrite.

Easiest way to get Alexandrite is just do that repeatable quest along with your expert roulette. It's super easy.

yeas its very easy but its also slow.. it would take 75 days at that rate.... thats how I got my novus the first time as I wasnt gonna farm myth and I surely wasnt gonna fate grind for atma like drop rates of 75 amex

That's only if you want to replace ALL of your materia, and there would be no seriously good reason to do that.

In fact, with the level cap about to go to 60, you shouldn't even worry about respecs at this point. The level cap will go up, and all of today's "hard" content is going to become knock-down easy without needing a BiS weapon.

Even if the cap weren't going up, there's really no such thing as a bad i130 weapon unless you literally pile on totally useless stats, like INT on a paladin weapon.

I did a restat of my Lilith Zeta and I used 33 Alex to do so. Also I spent 9 million in the process so it's not cheap. Positively though getting alex is easier than it was with both soldiery (to buy maps) and Allied Seals to buy alex direct. It didn't take me long to get the next 75 for my second (yes I'm silly) Zeta.
