Depending on how active hunts are on your server - an A rank drops 30 soldiery, and there's usually one up every 10-15 minutes. So if you hit a good window and hunts are very active on your server, you can see 120-150/hour. S ranks drop 100, plus 10 poetics. And of course you're earning Allied Seals too, which are valuable for their own reasons.

However, if Hunts are slow on your server, then one A rank kill could eat up 30 minutes - not worth it.

Frontlines is great for grinding tomes after you have used your roulette bonus. It isn't as fast as grinding dungeons, but it is a great change of pace, and PvP is never as grindy.

Also, with the average Syrcus Tower run taking around 20 mins these days, that is another great option.

During the loading screen back to where you queued from, you get a big popup like with atma or alexandrites.

Yep, the notification for the item is always after you exit to leave the dungeon. It delays occasionally, so you might not see it until right as you are spawning back to the world.

Anyway, here are some soldiery gaining methods from fastest #1 to slowest #5

#1 - Gather 6 other like minded individuals, advertise free carries through ex primal content, get a new player in there as your 8th, and nab 100 soldiery per run.
#2 - Dailies - expert roulette, trials roulette, frontlines roulette once a day are mandatory.
#3 - Hunts give quite a bit of soldiery, but nearly no poetics. Hunt groups are awesome for soldiery.
#4 - Coil farming for gear and materials (especially T4). Occasionally with t4 you find new people and get a 100 bonus.
#5 - Dungeon grinding.

Personally I prefer expert roulette. No bonuses ever for those dungeons but guaranteed 100 irregardless and not a bad amount of poetics.

Edit: Also generally people run those at consistent decent pace.

For the time being, I would recommend running your dailies, and then focusing on the dungeon item drops.

I've finished 3 Zeta weapons, and for all 3 I finished getting the soldiery requirement within a day of getting the dungeon drops. There are 16 dungeon drops in total, and unless you have INCREDIBLE luck, you will be running some of those dungeons more than once, and if you are unlucky, some of them may run into double digits. There is no point spamming the 6400 soldiery required before you have all the drops, because there is a good chance by the time you are done, you will be nearly at that figure anyway, worry about it then.

Consider your self very unlucky if you had to do a dungeon about 45 times? I know some one that did AV I think it was about 63 times for drop.

While I mostly agree with you here, there is an advantage in having capped (2000) soldiery when starting the zodiac step. Namely you get to buy one of your 1600 soldiery items right away. This is very easy to do since spamming duties for Nexus is pretty common, and it reduces the amount of soldiery you need to grind from 6400 to 4800. It also lets you open up three of the dungeon lines right away instead of just two of them.

100% agree, having enough for one item off the bat is certainly a leg up in the right direction, but farming the full quota of soldiery before getting the drops is unnecessary. As someone above mentioned, you will be running dungeons multiple times, so the soldiery will earn itself.
