Just wondering to see how popular it may be.

It seems a bit to much like the type of toon building as in FFXI...(rip off?) But the graphics do look very stunning. Well what do you guys think?

I can't decide wether to be a gnome on EQ2 just for the little green specs, or wether to keep on playin EQ, thinking about it there will be more camps free, better soloing opportunities, i can buy every item in the bazaar and totally monopolize the geerlok trade like i do now, but for less pp. I think i'll play EQ2 for the kicks, the cool graphics, get a toon up not very high, either get hooked on it, or get pulled back to my good ol' EQ druid.

I'm definitely going to be checking it out. I'm currently playing FFXI but grew up on EQ1. I believe the Everquest is the godfather of MMORPG's and am anticipating great things with EQ2, i've been waiting for it for soo long ^^. Anyone happen to know the perspective release date thus far?
#9 Jul 11 2004 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
The only thing I've heard on a release date is that Moorgard has stated on a few occations that it will be out in 2004.

They are starting the next phase of beta soon, if that means anything. I'd be content with a release around Thanksgiving.

Oh yeah, I'll be playing this one. I'm not playing any mmorpg at the moment, so I'm putting my $15 a month into a new graphics card fund. Budgeting rocks!!!

Budgetting does rock! ^^

So perpective launch date is by end of year? Does anyone know if it will be before/after the release of WoW?

We'll be trying both EQ2 and WoW...hopefully both will be great in their own way. The only downside is that if we love both games, we'll have to get 2 accts per game...Most likely we'll end up with 2 accts for EQ2 and one acct for WoW.

I'll be getting it ... i have been playing EQ1 for about a year now and its alot of fun but the amount of little details in EQII just sound like the shiz nit :)

i also like the way that any race can end up any class i think my first toon will be something fitting for race/class but my first alt will have to be something just off the wall ;)

as for the release ebgames has the shipping date set for nov 14 ... but who knows if that will hold out till the end. I personally want them to work as many bugs out as possible but also want them to put it out as soon as possible it sucks to have conflicting views on this hehe

anywho im crossing my fingers and hoping that the date doesnt change and hope too see all of ya in the land of norrath after its broken

I'm waiting for the beta, which I am supposed to guaranteed from buying Lords of Everquest, so I can compare it to World of Warcraft, which I am also testing. WoW looks pretty nice right now, but lacks end-game content (which is a given since they haven't let us test the end-game content.) It will take a very impressive game to be able to oust it in my mind.

Is everyone who posts on this site an FFXI player?

I think I won't get EQ2 when i comes out. I've been playing EQ since 1999. Been a lot ins and outs, so I'm still not quite full leved yet (still 59 with my main). But it's a great game, and I love playing it.
I saw that one druid here said that he could get all those now filled camps, and kite his heart out. I think that is true. BEcause if you look how poulated the originl Norrath is now when we have all those expansions, I think all planes and such will be left almost empty when EQ2 comes out. Those who plays EQ, and are addicted (have at least 24h playtime during a week), will keep their account, but will also start to play EQ2 just because of the new opportuneties and gameplay. And I think that to get good raid going on, you must be joining one of the uberguilds to be able to take ANY raidencounter down. Now you can be in a little guild, and still join a raid from time to time. But then you HAVE to be in a big guild, who can just come and wipeout a zone in EQ1, just for the fun of it. Should anyone continue to play EQ1, Sony got to make it possible to do more soloing than they do to day. I think it's a step in the right direction when we with the new expansion should be able to do things on our own epic alone, without having a raid going on to get our questitems...
But I will still not start to play EQ2 when it comes out. And it's not because I'm grumpy or anything. But just the fact that I play EQ on a quite good laptop (Bought in 2004), and that can keep up with EQ1 the way it is now. But I see that I have to play on a bigger stationary computer if I want to play EQ2. And since I can't afford it, I just have to play EQ1 atleast a year or so before I can consider to buy EQ2.
I hope not all of you will jump over to play EQ2 when it comes out. And even if Sony can shrink down the number of servers, I think it will still be troubled to have a good group up and going at higher lvls.
I guess we'll only have to wait and see what will happen when EQ2 comes out. And I guess that those who have some ubercharakters will always play EQ1, and help us who still plays for fun and not for profit...
