I was thinking the same thing.

Then I remembered that I still need to finish BS 1 and 2 and stopped myself.

Come to the darkside, we have cookies, and Deals lots and lots of deals

Also BS1/2 I never really played and the first one I got bored quickly with, Bioshock Inf actually kept my attention the entire time and IMHO is an awesome game overall, Close to GOTY but not quite.

Bought Triple Town for $4.99, got the three free games, sold five Steam Trading Cards from Triple Town for $6 and then got a foil drop that I'm trying to move for $35. Smiley: thumbsup

If anyone is messing with the card thing, they made it so any level can now get foils. So there's even less reason to try and "level up" and you might as well dump everything into the marketplace.

Isn't there only a limited amount of card drops per account, though? That's what's kept me holding on to my Dota 2 cards this far.

Welcome to the internet.
Also welcome to Achievement whoring.

Gamers have been conditioned to "Collect them all" all those hidden collectables that do nothing really in games, Pokemon. Its all about the epeen and showing off how "Hardcore" you are

Nothing? NOTHING? Why, once you collect all the cards you can combine them into a badge! So people will know you collected all the cards! Also, you'll get some random reward like a pointless emoticon to use on the Steam discussion boards because often am I typing and think "I wish I could make a tiny Orange Portal to punctuate my thoughts". Or a coupon for 25% off some crap game.

It used to be that you had to be level 10 to get foil drops so there was some incentive to grind out the cheap badges with the hope of turning a lucky profit. But now any level can get foil drops so even that reason is gone. It's a pure vanity thing now.

And yeah, you can only collect 50% of the cards as drops for any given game. You're supposed to trade for/buy the remainder. I suppose this helps make the badges more "exclusive" since not everyone who owns a game can get the badge for that game.

F2P games like DOTA and TF2 reset their drop rate for every $9 you spend in the Steam DOTA/TF2 store, respectively.

The Defiance upgrade pack is $20 at GetGamesGo (50% off). Not on sale at GMG.

Don't think anyone here is playing it but, again, how often do I get to post a deal from GetGamesGo?

Uhmm isnt that just the Digital Deluxe upgrade? That would just upgrade your account from Normal to Deluxe :S not give you the full game. The Digital Deluxe version is like 49.99 even on sale. (So you could get it for 43.99 if you bought the 24 dollar one and the deluxe upgrade for 19.99 you linked)

I havent had the luck of Joph with a foil But my Portal 2, Dont starve cards have sold for a total of 5 dollars for 7 cards ($1 for the dont starve ones and .50 for the portal 2)

Wow If that Defiance is Digital deluxe + Game for 20 bucks thats like 80% off I almost want to pick it up. GMG and others list it at 99.99 for that pack (Not on sale)

Just the Upgrade stuff, not the core game. If you wanted both core game and the digital upgrade stuff you'd be best off with the $50 game from GMG and using the 20% voucher to knock it down to $40.

That's crazy...

I mean, I get wanting to go for achievements. That actually involves playing a game. And hopefully it's fun. But buying cards that don't mean or do anything? That's just odd.

I'm all for it if it means other people are going to give you money you can use for purchasing games on sale.

Play a card game for a couple hours, sell cards to people obsessing with collecting... buy games.

But you can't PLAY a card game.

I thought the idea sounded neat when I was thinking of it as something like MTG, but with gaming-specific cards. That could have been fun in its own right, AND have monetized achievements. Win-win for everyone, really.

Bean, if you still have a beta key, I'd like to see the system for myself... My Steam ID is idiggory.

I meant a game that earns cards. Like TF2, BL2, Triple Town, Don't Starve, Portal 2, etc, etc. Earn cards for playing the games, sell the cards to people obsessing with collecting badges. Turns playing games into earning 'free' Steam games.

From my BL2, HL2, Portal 2, Dont Starve I made 9.76 cents if i would have got a foil you could almost double that if not triple.

Also you dont have to "PLay" the game just have it open for like 1 1/2 hours in the back ground alt tabbed
