Granted, 4 hours for $10 is a better deal than most DLC nowadays, I can't say I'm interested in doing the pirate thing. Feels too specific, to tell you the truth. Like if Skyrim released DLC that was essentially an addition to the Dark Brotherhood. Anyone RPing as a "good" guy wouldn't really enjoy it.

From the article I linked, it sounds like you'll be fighting the pirates not joining them.

Also possible, I just think I remember an interview where they said they were going to let you be a pirate. Assumed this was it.

That's alright with me.

welp i finished the main quest, 18 hrs on casual. pretty cool. i actually might run through it again on casual as finesse, only because i think i don't think i had a single rogue set piece drop the entire run. when i killed gadflow (spoilers!) he dropped 5 might setpieces.

got out of the tower and cranked it up to hard. going after all the sidequests.

I have 105 hours in now and I have not finished the main quest. Smiley: grin 1/3 ish of that time is from my first battlemage guy before I got hooked on Finesse and rerolled.

But I do have my own sweet Seaside castle now. It has everything a man could want. All crafting stations, a healer, my own shrine of Liria, and even a vendor.

Also it's a castle. My castle.

I'm splitting my time between WAY too many games right now. Playing ME and then ME2, so I can have a fresh new save for ME3. Try to get on KoA at least once every 2-3 days. I'm slowly leveling a new warden through Dragon Age: Origins (Ultimate edition for $20 got me all the DLC I was missing, plus Awakening), so I have all of that to go through. Haven't even logged onto TOR in like 2 weeks...

Mass Effect is easily taking the bulk of my free time, since I want to be as far along as possibly by the launch of ME3. Almost certainly won't be ready for that, given that I have 2 midterms and a paper due next week, but my Spring Break starts next Friday, so I'll have lots of time to develop carpal tunnel then.

I do want to advance some in KoA though. I need to log on every so often to keep the story fresh in my mind. I just retrieved that spear of light, and finished the warrior/mage guild stuff in the area. Tons of side quests left though.

I feel your pain man. Like cake in every direction but not enough time to eat it all. Actually I don't really like sweets, I'm more of a salty and savory person. But the point is I am resisting a replay of ME 1-2 because I know there is not enough time before ME3. Plus I want ME3 to feel fresh and unrushed. SWTOR will be their when I need it to fill the void. But I still feel guilty for not needing it right now.

And I am finally nearing the end of KoA even though I want to play a pure mage at some point as well who knows if that will ever come to pass.

So, I keep telling myself I'll reroll and try different specs, but I'm currently having too much fun as a Battlemage still. Difficulty is almost right (maybe slightly easy still), and the playstyle is fun. Maybe I'll convince myself eventually...

I have the opposite issue, lol. I want to try Finesse/Sorcery, but pure Finesse is too much fun.

The bomblets you can drop across a field of battle are so fun. I pretty much set up every fight by laying down a mine field.

I haven't actually grabbed that skill yet. Just cracked the last tier, and put it in one of the others. Chance for 100 damage on bleeding targets, maybe.

So I'm 52 hours in now and level 27 (or 28? I have a horrible memory and it was late when I leveled and turned it off last night), working my way through the Plains of Erathell. This is officially the longest I've played a game other than World of Warcraft in at least 10 years. I've stuck with my pure sorcery build and Meteor is pretty ridiculous. I try to only use it for large aoe groups because one shotting everything gets boring after awhile. And I have 2 houses now, so ******** up in Canneroc doesn't bother me anymore. Except I'm a completionist, so I want to do that questline on another character eventually.

I have a couple of questions, however. I'm playing on PC (well, Bootcamp running Windows 7) and considering it's a 6 year old Mac pretending to be a PC, the game runs pretty smooth. My only problem is though, sometimes the game doesn't respond to a keypress. It's rather annoying to run into a fight and start trying to spam my heal instead of casting a spell because the game doesn't realise I pushed the button to switch abilities. So basically, I'm just wondering if this is something other people have experienced or is it because my computer is ancient and sh*tty? It's not game breaking by any means, just annoying.

And my second question is potentially a stupid one, but I have no experience with games that use this type of save file. Can I create another character without losing the one I'm playing now? I'm thinking yes, since "save game" from the main menu allows you to create a new save file, but the auto saves confuse me. I'm too wussy to try because I don't want to lose my character. Thanks for anyone who cares to help me out and apologies for being clueless.

Auto Save will replace your old auto saves, but that should be it. Any other saves should be independent of each other. I don't know that for sure, but I'm 99.9% positive that creating a new character will have no effect on your old one unless you overwrite all of those saves (however many you have, I tend to create a new one after each major plot event).

I THINK that, if you manually overwrite that first autosave, it'll create new saves for that character. But I'm not at all sure about that--safer to assume they won't be distinct.

I'm in the same boat. And even though I really did enjoy this game, my gaming ADD took over and Im off to other things, like the old Mass Effects, Deus Ex HR, Battlefield 3 and Forza 4.

Some day I will return to KoA, though...

Maybe if they fix the camera, and it is bundled with 3 other DLC's on Steam for less than $5 someday I might give it another spin.

I finished the game awhile back with just over 80 hours played. I planned on getting the DLC, but a friend of mine talked me into playing Rift again so KoA was promptly neglected. I did enjoy it though.

I just got the DLC and it's looks pretty good so far. Seems like a lot of content for a 10 bucks DLC. I'm 4 hours in and I've barely touched the main quest.

i'm pretty sure i've just about wrapped up all the dead kel content. took me about 11 hours to do all the side quests and everything. went in at level 11 and finished up at level 20. one pointer: don't hesitate to start the gravehall questline.

Studio 38, developers of KoA, has been mired in debt and unable to make loan payments or meet payroll. The state of Rhode Island, which has a $75 million loan guarantee with them, may be on the hook to cover the failing studio should it fold.

So if you ever wanted to game on the tax-payer's dime, this could be your chance!

I haven't played the game but you folks all seemed to enjoy it. Did it simply suffer the unfortunate timing of being released during Skyrim-mania and too close in genre to be the $60 game people picked?

They definitely chose a poor time to release it, just between Skyrim and ME3 (and plenty other major titles were launching or had launched recently). The game wasn't bad by any means, and I fully intend to revisit it someday. I think it did combat better than Skyrim did, but I'd have to give Skyrim the superior vote for most other areas.

That said, I still thought it was a very nice game.
