I don't see why the Inquisitor even has a bedroom. Aside from some romance options, which they could have easily done elsewhere, there's no use to the place. I put a giant golden bed in there for the hell of it, but I've never actually gone up there to see it.

With my giant gold pimp bed, the real question is why all the ladies need their own bedrooms. Awwwww-yeah!

Every so often I get an approval alert for Cole, reminding me that Cole exists.

I've been waiting for him to leave. I've never had him in the party, and he pretty much disapproves of all of my decisions.

I used Cole for a little while but eventually switched to Sera. I can't find any use for Varric since Sera's DPS eclipses his and the Bianca upgrades don't really seem to balance out her bow. Which is too bad since I'd rather listen to Varric in the party than friggin' Sera.

Cole gives me the creeps.

Also apparently some dragons are horse humpers. I just got my first Dracolith mount and good lord is it ugly. It's part horse part dragon and has sickly yellow giraffe areas. I think it's going to start hissing "Please kill me" anytime now.

I was in a similar situation after finding a pretty nice epic bow for Sera. Eventually, as you upgrade the weapon part patterns for Bianca and the materials you have access to, Varric's damage will catch up.

Cole doesn't bother me to much. Maybe if I met someone like him in a real life situation he creep me out being able to read all my thoughts but there's a subtle kindness to him. Beyond him doing his whole I know exactly how you feel so I know how to make it better shtick. Like how he found something Cassandra lost that meant a lot to her. Or the weird **** he does around camp. Not quite as useful but somehow feels endeering to me.

Personally I found Solas a bit more unsettling then most. I do my best to be nice to him. But when he took me to the fade without even telling me and I woke up in bed afterwards when we were talking in his room. It freaked me out, in a this ****** could trick my *** into the fade and assassinate me in real life if he truly wanted to.

Eh I guess to each their own.

I need to congratulate the devs on the awesome dragon fights. As I was doing one last night, I paid attention to how the dragon moved, turned to look at targets, would rear/shuffle itself backwards while it breathed to keep you from just staying under its head, the way it kicks and trashes to get you out from under it, etc. When you're banging against its leg and it turns to look at you, you can just feel the "Who the hell do you think you are, tiny man?" in its mind. A lot of work must have gone into those fights/animations and it shows.

You're thanking the wrong group, you need to thank the Demon's Souls/Dark Souls dev teams.

Any devs reading this thread can share in my praise.

It's too bad that Dark Souls failed to grab me though if they had the same thing going on. I was mentally comparing the DA:I dragon fights to the ones in Skyrim which seem pretty bland when matched against one another.

It's a good comparison. Except the way you do combat. In DS it's a combination of positioning, blocking, and rolling (immunity frames). Then you have to watch your stamina when attacking and not get to greedy so you can still use those defenses.

Plus you only have to worry about yourself, not your idiot party standing around in the fire. In DA:I they made raid boss mechanics on the dragons that almost require you to micromanage. One attack hurts everyone outside with Aoe, another hurts everyone inside etc. I can hear a raid leader from WoW calling one of these. "Everyone out! Ok. Everyone get back in." "Solas get out of that Fing fire, and get barrier back up!"

I have not fought a dragon since I dropped Cas for Viv speced KE. Cas as a 2H was just to much of a damage magnet and potion waster. Viv seems to be doing much better with spirit sword and barrier 30% damage spec.

But next dragon I might actually bother to fight it in tactical and see if I can keep them alive a bit more by playing raid leader. My tank can solo them but it takes much longer.

This game.

It goes from boring and slightly wtfshouldIdonext overwhelming. To crap I need more elfroot. To holy crap this part is amazing (main quest). To oh no, they put me in the Fade. Smiley: oyvey Well maybe the Fade won't suck this time right? At least I brought Voldemort/Solas/I'm not an Elf with me.

Oh I did change my group tactics to follow them selves instead of me and they are taking less damage now. In big messy parts I would be tanking the big bad and I realized they were targeting the big bad with me while some random small mob was owning them... Now they seem to turn and kill it. So that's something.

Yeah just finished it. It was not too bad, I did not like the end though, seemed contrived and out of no where. Oh and now pick from two awful choices for no good reason. Plus I did not get to loot anything off the big bad of that zone. It was there on the ground and nope cutscene *****! It was probably just a research item scrap but still.

Times I want loot: Just killed a big bad.

Times I don't want loot: filching through the pockets of dead things for coins and scrap cloth while a giant epic battle is raging around you and you have to save the next group of stuff. Oh wait those ramparts will be fine just let me pick up 75 cents from this dead mage and 3 pieces of research junk from the demon army. Kind of breaks the flow of immersion.

Seriously, that choice was pointless and annoying. Not to mention, I didn't get to fight the awesome giant spider demon.

I'm sick as ****, so I took the day off from work. That meant finally booting up the game.

12 hours later, I learn (through a conversation with Leliana about how the Warden died) that my keep data didn't import successfully or something. I am NOT pleased.

DA2 gave you a checklist when you uploaded a save. Why the flying **** isn't there one here? I only HAVE the one world state, and it said I imported it, but instead it's the default one.

As far as I can tell, the only information that actually gets imported is the name, class, gender and face model of your characters. All of the major decisions need to be set in the Tapestry (which takes a long friggin time), saved and manually uploaded.

Speaking of which, time to show off your Herald: here's my Reaver in the Fade looking awfully concerned about something.

There are some neat things you get if you do the entire tapestry and upload your saves. Different people show up for things in game. Mine worked just fine. However when I did use one of the custom models for a person from DA:2 instead of the default it switched my voice from American to British. Known bug apparently. Disconcerting at first but I got used it.

The import fails are known as well. You should pretty much talk to Leliana and Varrick in Haven ASAP. They will confirm the choices you made though the way they tell about what happened and your choices.

I did the tapestry thing, but I didn't know I could upload my saves? How do I do that?

[EDIT]

And the quartermaster mentioned "Queen Anora," but she's a Loghain fangirl and I thought that was just worldbuilding stuff.

Is there a codex entry I can read to check my upload?

The import thing failed for me but there's enough general call-backs to DA:O to keep me happy. I'll make a better effort next time to determine if my world state properly imported.

Coming up on the end of the game and intentionally leaving some content untouched for the next go-around.

Finished the Josie romance line with some lametastic couch cuddling Smiley: glare

Another gripe (though not huge) - not being able to see the companions' special trees until later on (I hear it's just reaching level 12?)

I know I can pay to respec and all, but still - I'd like to be approaching roles and gearing and such with foreknowledge of what a character could be capable of. I don't like that I might be building characters completely against what is wise for them. Yeah, it'll only be a couple of levels of growing pains while I regear/respec them, but there'd be way less if I could just see their special trees.

I meant in the keep. I chose which Warden/Champ would be used it built a base and I adjusted what it got wrong to establish my canon for this play through. I'm going to choose different things for different characters to match some of the other choices I made in DA:O.

Yeah I guess she is the innocent girl option. But still... You think a skilled diplomat would know how to negotiate with my *Fill in blank.

I've also got the last story mission to go. ( I had to check to see) I'm putting it off for a bit though while I wrap some other things up. Got a couple zones virtually untouched, I just went there to check what level they were and open them. I'm going to at least do the main mini-zone plots for the zone. I've long since decided fuuug all the busy work collection quests.
