I honestly don't remember, but the current three don't so that theory goes out the window.

But, to be fair, I can't even remember what the other two were. And there's a program to help you budget on there right now. So.

As for the current options, I voted Orcs May Die. I've always had something of an interest in it, but never actually got it. Dunno if I will now, but the other two don't appeal to me.

They're clearly trying to promote the fact that the platform is technically not just games anymore. But c'mon. It's the saddest attempt at promotion I've ever seen.

It's also hilariously out of place. You want to remind your users to budget? In the middle of your summer sale?

Sure, but considering how psychologically effective the structure of the sale is in specifically breaking budgeting perspectives on users, it's still odd. The structure of the sale, between different sale types, different durations, and one-day structure of each deal, drives people to stress and bargain with themselves over a purchase.

I mean, Steam makes more money off of you buying a daily deal than buying a flash sale. But offering the game as both helps drive purchases. If you didn't grab it on the daily deal, and the flash sale deal is slightly better, it creates the sense of this being your last chance. So even if that sale isn't the best deal, your disproportionately more likely to buy it.

Likewise, if they offer it as a flash sale, and then later as a daily deal, you're more likely to feel like you "missed" the original sale and this is the best you can do.

But the effectiveness of both those strategies is forcing you to think emotionally, not rationally. And my rational brain tells me that every dollar I spend now is a dollar I can't put into savings for a gaming rig. But my emotional brain sees something pretty at 75% off.

Kind of an odd tangent, but I still press the space bar twice after each sentence. It's a habit that won't be going away any time soon. But most forums remove extra spaces, leaving the single space even after a sentence.

I do, too. And I doubt that will ever change. Nor do I intend to put much effort into trying. Nearly everything I do with a keyboard is muscle memory at this point. Why bother? The extra space isn't hurting anyone (I don't work in printing or journalism), and it may or may not make things more legible.

Well that's disappointing. Because it looked kind of cool. Not cool enough for me to go for it, but cool enough to be noteworthy.

Just to add some clarity, I'm not really all that big into sim games. I am into astronomy, which is why it looked interesting.

Fallout NV: Ultimate Ed. is $5 which is the cheapest it has ever been.

Doom 3: BFG is $5 on a flash sale which is the cheapest it has gone.

I voted for Gunpoint just 'cause. I don't even know what it is.

I've seen a lot of positive buzz for it, but never looked too closely.

I voted for it, mostly because I own the other two.
