CoD: GhostsFollow

So my brother's bday is tomorrow and I already got him a gift, but I can push that over to Christmas. CoD is pretty much the only game he plays, so I'm wondering if he would like Ghosts.

His favorite was Modern Warfare (I want to say 2, but possibly 3). I know he didn't care for the first Black Ops. If the second Black Ops is the one with the boat, I think he liked that one okay.

So, um, thoughts?

Black Ops 2 did have two boats; one map named Hijacked which was basically CQC, and the other was Carrier which was a long range combat map. Ghosts is more like MW3 than Black Ops though. Was there specific information you wanted about the game?

I liked MW2, but nowadays for me it's Battlefield all the way. I've converted quite a few friends as well.

Mostly if people thought it was fun. Smiley: lol

I absolutely suck at FPS games, because I don't have the twitch reflexes needed, so I rarely play them. ME3 was the one I played the most (multiplayer speaking), by far, and that's because it was PvE. I haven't even gotten through Uncharted, because I'm that bad at twitch aiming.

What's similar? The map variety, the gearing/skilling process, both?

EDIT:

The one he really liked had a map that was like two office buildings (with lines of glass windows) separated from each other by a rooftop between them. I think that's the most describable map I remember.

The newer one he liked had a boat that was like a cruise liner, and you could camp out on this one balcony and shoot down a row, or into a cabin to the left (that was long, with windows, and doors on both ends). Oh, I think it also has like an automated factory with a helipad outside? And I remember a board with these weird raised flaps coming out of the ground and cargo containers.

You'd think I'd remember more, because I watched him play plenty... Hate FPS games, but they're fun to watch.

I've heard good things about Ghosts' Extinction mode, as well.

What is extinction mode?

He usually just plays the standard Team Deathmatch. Eventually he switches to the mode where you die faster and there's less info on the screen.

It's a co-op mode where you fight waves of enemies. In Codblopstwo, they had Zombies mode. In this one, they're aliens, but from what I understand, many people like the structure of it a bit more than Zombies.

My kid played MW3 then BO2 and then got Ghosts. Within about two weeks, he was ready to trade Ghosts with a friend for his copy of GTA5. His feeling was that Ghosts didn't really add anything to the game over BO2 and even with a smaller population he could get the same experience from BO2 (and have his achievements, unlocked weapons, etc).

On the other hand, if your brother enjoyed BO2 then maybe he'd enjoy more of the same.

This is my thought as well, but as everyone else in my office plays Ghosts during lunch the peer pressure got to me. At least I saved $20 when I got it.

I kind of figure all the games in these lines are like Pokemon games, so the only way he really won't like it would be because he already has it.

I bought it for him (and it turns out he was just waiting to see if it popped up on his birthday before getting it himself, so woot). He hasn't played it yet, but I'll report back if he likes it.

He did play MW3, and BO2 was his favorite since MW2. So I'm guessing he'll enjoy it. Either way, I saved him $60. Smiley: lol

I also gave him Maker's Mark and candy. So I feel it was a decent gift.

Twizzlers, so I REALLY hope he doesn't get that drunk.

He could do that on something cheaper than Makers. Smiley: lol
