So how frustratingly hard is this game? Preferably compared to F-Zero GX since that's the only brutally hard game I've played.

Grats! How many hours was that? Also I wonder if they will patch that spell before the PC version.

I'm hearing they did. Smiley: tongue

Also, with the PC version coming at the end of next week, I am super excited. Still can't decide what I want to play first though... I'm thinking a standard melee type character but can't decide which one.

I haven't found the game frustratingly hard at any point yet. The closest was the time that I think I might have been the only person in an area of a certain level, so I kept getting invaded on every single clear attempt by this one guy.

I mean, I've found it very challenging at points, but nothing that made me want to pull out my hair or anything.

So not the do everything flawlessly or you're ****** thing like with F-Zero story chapters on very hard then. Cause that got a little crazy at times, I might pick this up for PC sometime then.

If you had to play flawlessly, I'd have given up in frustration long ago. There can be parts that are very unforgiving, but they can often be dealt with by figuring out a completely new strat rather than perfecting the one you're currently using. And, it never hurts to grind out some levels via Jolly Cooperation if you find something a little too difficult.

If you have never played the first DS you can pick it up for pretty cheap these days Aeth. It goes on sale frequently.

Difficulty is one of those things that gets interpretive. I did not find DS to be that difficult. Certainly there is a learning curve and some required skill. But once I got the system down it felt very tight (on controller). There were a few bosses that felt really good to beat the first time. (Capra Demon) (Biggie Smalls the hard order) But on subsequent characters I knew what to expect and could beat them much easier.

I'm sure DS2 is similar, looking forward to it.

I think I've only beat 2/9 chapters on very hard and one only on easy. There's one chapter where you need to escape from a long straight tunnel with various closing doors and pillars in 60/50/40 seconds and doors close faster on hard and very hard. The world record is just under 37 seconds. I think I spent a full weekend doing nothing but eat, sleep and try over and over and over to get it. And that's somewhere at the bottom for difficulty.

The flipside is that DS1 is a hot mess on the PC even before you factor in Games for Windows.

I'm sure you can find cracks that make it playable, but the standard version wasn't loved.

Get Dsfix. Problem solved. Looks and plays great. I've got 380 hours on it. I would not recommend M/KB at all but there is a fix for that too.

Yeah. DS PC port has issues, and while you shouldn't have to do this, you can get a community member-made mad to fix it. Luckily, you only really have to install the one, DSFix. There are of course many mods that may be worth looking into, but you can still have a good experience with only the one.

This. He knocked out DSfix in less than 1 hour and it was used by everyone. From software said they had coding issues trying to fix it and that guy was like challenge accepted /fixed.

Wouldn't be the first fanboy on an official DS2 project. EpicNameBro and AGermanSpy were tapped to work on the official guide, which was pretty cool.

Reviewers I watch have been happy with it, but I haven't bothered since I prefer sitting on the couch to play that game instead of at my computer desk.
