"Only the Mighty" might be one of my least-favorite quests. My decks are rarely heavy on >5 mana cards.

I saw that post, and I feel like the lightwell is a ****** example. Current card text:
Quote:
At the start of your turn, restore 3 Health to a damaged friendly character.

Adding "random":
Quote:
At the start of your turn, restore 3 Health to a random damaged friendly character.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that makes it all too difficult to understand? I don't think that's too many quantifiers at all.

I think it's not so much ease of understanding, but more how easily new players can pick things up. They don't want people to have to sit and think about the card text just to understand the basics of how to play it.

The bigger thing, from what I can tell, is them wanting to cut all language they can, to leave room for future card expansion that won't require too much work to standardize things. Which I do get, as long as they are situations where the random really isn't necessary.

I got to 16 briefly with my Rogue deck, then was back to 18, then i reshuffled, decided I needed to get the Gadgetzan Auctioneer card. Then ended after a few games of shuffling cards around, I dumped the Gadgetzan Auctionner (which I had to disenchant cards to make..Smiley: mad). Ended up back very close to my original build and am back at 17. I'll give it one more play session and see if I can get anywhere.

Time to go mess with the Hunter again I guess. After all the sneaking around with the Rogue, I like it's straight-forwardness.

Got drunk and tried to play Priest in Arena for my daily quest rewards. Bad idea. 0-3 the dream. Smiley: lol

Priest's hero power is just so underwhelming in arena. Their class cards I also feel lack power compared to other heroes... then again, I think a lot of people who pick priest in arena fail because they want to do gimmicky stuff with inner fire and buffing minions... but silence is reasonably common in arena. As is hard removal. Arena is all about value minions, and priest unfortunately does not have many class cards with high value.

Priest's steal cards are also a lot better in the controlled environment of non-arena play, where you can more reasonably predict deck makeup. Obviously there's still a probability aspect, but it's better than having to deal with chance AND a whole lot of unknowns.

My biggest success in arena was 11 wins with, iirc, Paladin. Mage would probably be my next choice.

Paladin's so forgiving, with so many shields, heals, and the ability to toss more into your field when needed. I think Mage is great, but it's slightly more dependent on your draws (both in building the deck and in game).

Time to bump the HS thread.

Due to my current home computer situation (I'm using my hubbies laptop) and simply the time of year, I've not really indulged much in gaming. Hearthstone however is the perfect game for both playing on a laptop and for not getting too involved.

Curse of Naxxramas, the games first expansion, was released yesterday. You play against cg bosses. There will be 5 'dungeons' in the expansion, one opening each week. You'll have to buy access to each dungeon with gold. So you'll either need to save your gold or fork out some dough.

The first dungeon opened last night and is a 'freebie'. There are three bosses. I defeated them without much trouble on 'normal' mode, but with my strongest deck (Hunter). After you defeat the bosses you get some class battles - those too were fun but not impossible. Now I'm left with 'hard' mode. It's hard. It's going to require building a deck specifically to counter each boss.

In the end, the expansion introduces new cards. Some of which will only be available by completing each dungeon.

I've been impressed with Blizzard. I never played any of their games before this, and still have not dropped a dime into HS, but they seem to be a pretty responsive, customer driven company (at least in comparison to other gaming companies).

Anyone else try out the new expansion?

I played for a little while last night... but the lag was terrible. Each move took like 15 seconds... which meant each turn was a minute or two longer than it needed to be. Really adds up, especially when even the AI's turns are taking that long. It is fun, but I'm a little sad at the amount of content in the first wing. All I have left is the Hard Modes... and while yes, those are going to be exceedingly difficult ***** Anub'rhekan and his 4/4s for 2 mana), if there's nothing after that I'm going to be rather disappointed.

It was slower than normal game play, but not frustratingly so...except for the double Ooze card. That one card seemed to slow things up quite a bit.

I know right!

I spent four+ years playing Warhammer with EA Mythic. My sense of customer service was really thrown out of whack.

Anub wrecked my Paladin deck last night. Granted, I didn't get the best draws, but still.

Paladin 2 mana ability - 1/1 minion.
Anub 2 mana ability - 3/1 minion.

Not so enjoyable. My Pld deck requires me to maintain board control primarily through trading. But with the sheer ability of Anub to toss out minions, through both the hero power and the strong deathrattles, he was just always ahead. Every time I got a solid combo down to try and gain some ground, he would just toss out his AoE and wreck it.

My hunter deck is pretty scrappy, but beat it ok. You could probably build one with cards on hand.

In heroic mode the Anub-dude hero's ability is a 4/4 minion (and he starts with 45 health)..

I tried him once on Heroic. It was not pleasant. Since Heroic mode gives you no cards (that I know of) I may stay clear of that.

I really like the solo adventure. The Class Challenges are fun so far, the bosses are not too easy and not unfair either (Normal mode Smiley: lol) and their abilities and signature cards are a good adaptation of their original abilities in the WoW raid.

I made a few attempts on Heroic Anub last night. I did best with a Shaman deck. Got the hero down to 22 health, but then ran out of cards. I held him off for a long time with Priest but never damaged him much.

I'm thinking Paladin. Hold off as much damage as possible until you can build one of them giant 20+ damage minions.

Heroic Anub decimated me this morning.

But I did manage to win against the rest quite easily with a beast deck. My Paladin just couldn't keep up with the rate he could toss out strong minions.

I wish the unlock wasn't $20. That's expensive enough that it makes me hesitate. I mean, the new challenges are fun and all, but it's not really THAT much content.

And the 700 gold is essentially the choice between 35 assorted cards or, what, 9 specific cards? That's a rough choice. On the one hand, this is the only source of those 9 cards, and they're solid, and they include at least 1 legendary.

On the other hand, there are still plenty of normal cards I'd want that aren't so rare.

And back on the original hand, each time I open a pack, I do usually dust at least one card.

So I'm not sure.

Originally I was just going to buy the rest of the expansion, but then saw what little content there was. Plus I got a chunk of gold for first chapter, making it seem more reasonable to buy the next chapter with gold rather than cash.

Played through the first wing on Normal with my Paladin deck. Lost once on the boss with the missile bomb ability because I didn't get my cheap cards early enough so I had too many cards in my hand. Zoo should wreck that fight, I'd think.

Might take on Heroic this week. Not sure about buying it with cash, since I don't think I'd bother clearing it with every class or anything like that. I play mostly Arena, and right now I can ladder as high as I need to in order to get card backs without the new cards anyway. I might see if I can put aside gold for it.

Played again last night, but didn't see any options for unlocking the new Plague Quarter..perhaps because I had a 0 coins balance?

I also tried a heroic again after getting destroyed by Anub'Rhak and Maexxena (seriously....0 cost for that damn web removal hero power!!) and quite easily beat the Grand Widow with my Priest deck. I pretty much won it with just using a beefed up lightwell as she ignored it completely as it constantly healed me and I just kept pumping it's stats up and beating her down.

It would be nice if we won coins for playing this Naxx edition.
