Hopefully SWTOR learns from this launch! (was game=268)Follow

Thanks to this game, I will never criticize another launch delay ever again. XD I do think this game has potential to be a good game someday, but it wont be any time in the next 6+ months.

I have been looking forward to this game and SWTOR for years. After wasting my money on this game, all I can do now is hope for a clean SWTOR launch. No MMORPG will be perfectly polished, but it should at least be fun!

I'll come back to this game after the first expansion/console launched, assuming they fix... everything. If SWTOR comes out and is really awesome though, SE will lose a paying customer.

Suprisingly enough, most games loose customers to new games even if they have a smooth launch. I'm sure that SE as a corporation doesn't come and read this forum so im not sure why you posted it here other then to give this game you want so bad a bit of spotlight? Is that the whole reason for this post?

Because posting here is more fun than playing this game. :P Sad, but true.

Mostly, just to talk about SWTOR with the FF community, who are mostly cool peeps. I'm wondering if any other people who wasted their money on this beta, are now looking at SWTOR to show the MMO world how you launch a game.

No that game probably sucks.

In all honesty, who even cares about you post. Im only posting in your topic cause I have nothing better to do and cant log in to FFXIV or else I wouldn't even be posting here.

LOL

Why do you ask questions when you don't even care about the answer? You are one confusing troll.
#6REDACTED, Posted: Oct 12 2010 at 8:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I wanted to see how long this could go on for. Im just messing with you, I try most new games anywho. LOL

Hmmm. Agree on most points here:

Posting on these boards IS more fun the XIV.

I'm also looking forward to TOR now the XIV has failed to live up to expectations (in truth I've been following TOR since early this year but with FFXIV on the horizon, never did I think I'd seriously be considering picking it up at launch).

The only thing I'm afraid of going into it: starwars nerds (not just fans but the really hardcore one). The SWTOR forums seem to have a fair share of them. Can't put my finger on it but I get a really elitist vibe from a lot there.

I'd like to try star wars, but I really, do not care for star wars, the characters/races or any of that stuff. I like outer space and that's it. I don't care about jedis/siths and stuff so that is a big put off for me personally. I feel it would be hard for myself to get into a game with that. But the game looks fine otherwise. Just not sure I could do the whole star wars thing.
#9REDACTED, Posted: Oct 13 2010 at 12:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Haha true, but that can be said of any hardcore MMO base. There are a lot of elitist people on these boards too :P

I'm a bit of a Star Wars fanboy I must admit.

There is however no way in hell, that I will be playing their MMO.

The amount of sorry excuses for homosapians i'd have to associate with on that game would be mind blowing.

People think this launch was bad.. get ready to be inundated with posts of:

"OMGWTF THE JEDEYE ARE 2 POWERFOOL AND KILL MY SIFF LORD. SIFFS NEED MOAR POWARS NOW!!!!"

I'm definitely picking up SWTOR. I was kinda hoping ffxiv would tide me over untill it came out or be really really good, but I hate grinding and I hate time-consuming crafting so I guess I'm going to be trying to milk Fallout New Vegas for all its worth untill SWTOR comes out. Honestly I could deal with alot of the ffxiv issues if it wasn't a grinding game, I guess I'm just too a.d.d. for that anymore. With the good things I've seen bioware do with stories and gameplay I'm setting my hopes pretty high for some good plots, no grinding for my xp (or at least minimal), and hopefully a decent combat system. I do prefer the fantasy setting to sci-fi, but Bioware has been doing alota good stuff.

And the best part is that EA gave them a lot of the developers from Warhammer Online to help. Joy

There was a difference back many many years ago when the market wasnt saturated in MMOs.
Also warcraft fudges there numbers greatly on how many actual subscribers they have(about half of what they claim to have are trials and rmt). Granted they do still have alot, no denying that.

But yes, even the smoothest launches loose a ton of people now.
Gamers for MMOs especialy have put a standard so high that no one can reach it, they literaly expect all these games, at launch, to have just as much content as a game thats been out 8+ years. They expect no bugs(which even those games out 8+ years still have hundreds of). No crashes, no nothing. Hell they even complain about every little bit of maintenence.
Its just kinda sad. They want, what they have in their mind as the perfect MMO, and they expect it for every one that comes out, yet its unrealistic and wont happen.

as for SWTOR, i know alot about it that im not allowed to say, and let me just say, when it comes out, expect just as much if not more complaining then you see here. I for one will not be playing it.

I know I plan to be like the mindless drones of this site and defend SWTOR to no end even if the game is bad, because i'm a Star Wars fanatic.

I loved FF my whole life but this is my least favorite MMO ever.

Of course sweety. I bet you know where Jimmy Hoffa is burried as well, who shot J.R., and you'r really a member of a secret band of ninja assassins.

Anyhow in SWTOR standing in one spot looking at my light sabre will be 10000 times more fun than anything in FFXIV.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSqwPu6SeDY

Compare that to FFXIV leves where you kill 4 moles. And combat where you click like 1 or 2 buttons till a mob is dead. And you are fighting ladybugs and mushrooms.

I like how people think all MMO launches were rough and bad...

I was in the WoW beta, also bought the game for launch, and I seem to remember a very playable game. In fact, after spending 5 minutes in the beta, I remember saying to my friend "This game just feels natural" The movement was fluid, the story was fluid. I had a purpose, a direction, and I was shown all of the basic features... that was in BETA for god sakes. Granted, it of course had flaws, but that went down as one of the smoothest launches I have ever seen. It's no surprise to me that the game is what it is today partly due to that.

Don't take this post as me saying WoW is the best game ever, because it's not. I am simply saying that the game was polished from the start. Not nearly as polished as it is today of course, but it was polished, and it was fun. Forum trolls were few and far between.

I was there at launch too, and I do remember the loot lag. It wasn't a UI lag, the UI was also fluid and responsive. It was server lag from all of the incoming players. The beta had received such hype (mostly from being so polished) that the game was a hit from the start. They didn't have enough servers to handle the mass amounts of players. I remember it took them a few weeks to purchase some more server space and the game eventually leveled out.

It wasn't a flawless launch, but as far as MMOs go, they set the standard. FFXIV is a year behind in production. They should still be in Alpha with the state of the game like this. Instead, it was pushed to launch, and they will pay dearly for it. I do think it will get better eventually, but I think all of this negative press, will hurt it. It's an uphill battle at this point for SE.

I kinda like how the game turned out. I actually forgot how the launch was (CE). Just looking forward for more features and improvment :) who cares about the past ..

Could it be, that you guys play solo? This is an MMORPG you know .. a bit of social skills is required in this game =/ it's so much more fun when you play in a group :) this is just a wild guess, and not intended to be a flamebait btw ^^

no ammount of helpful advice can make a star wars game fun. that franchise was tired and boring 20 years ago, give it up already.

even with perfect gameplay and a 100% smooth launch the basis of star wars is still obnoxiously boring and you'll have a thousand trekkies drooling about who gets to be a chewbacka trying to hump the cinnamon bun hairdoo princess.

Confusing Star Wars fans with Trekkies? owch.

The star wars universe will be no more tired than this... http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/2/2d/Finalfantasyonlineraces1.jpg
