EDIT: BASF is now active on Besaid. The current linkshell leader is Gadhelyn Appledore, due to personal issues preventing me from playing until PS3 release.

I know it seems like everybody and their mother is recruiting for linkshells for FFXIV. I figured it was time to throw my proverbial hat into the ring.

BASF is intended to be an extremely casual social linkshell. No pressure to be anywhere or do anything at any particular time. Work on what class you want at your own pace. Of course, if you need help or want to help with guildleves, that's fine, too.

There are a few members that may not be playing until PS3 release. If you're also waiting for the PS3 version, don't worry; we won't pressure you to catch up.

A couple people have expressed interest in playing on whatever is designated as the role-playing server. That is still open for discussion. While BASF is not a role-playing linkshell, you won't be turned away if that's your preferred playstyle. A few of us on the forums were in the same RP LS together in FFXI.

Our general sense of humor leans towards PG-13 with occasional forays into R-rated territory, about what you'd find in the OOT here on Zam. Speaking of OOT, Toohotforu and GrowlingBunny are two of the admins of BASF.

The only thing we do ask is that you be respectful. Good-natured ribbing is tolerated (among our group, usually expected and/or encouraged), harassment is not. I particularly hate racism.

This is a link to our forum. Other than the application section, you have to sign up to post.

Also, because I'm a smartass, this is a link of an entirely different kind. So is this.

OK, enough with the bad jokes. Looking forward to FFXIV.

Qui audet vincit (Who dares wins),
Ralrra

Interesting story about the origins of the LS name. One that always sticks out to me is the name a friend and I gave to Celes in FF3(6)...when the soldier smacks her and said "The mighty '4 letter expletive' has fallen...it always cracked us up.

I meant enough bad jokes from me. You can fire off as many as you want.

Hope you enjoyed your cookie. :P

I'm posting to give you the Lancer Forum bump. You'll get more hits now Smiley: grin

I believe I'm still penciled in to join my old FFXI LS in the new game, but should those plans fall through, I think this is the first place I'd check out.

Ralrra is good people. Anyone would do well to join your group.

Thanks for the double bump, and the compliment from Eske.

Guess I just made this a triple bump. :D

Lately I've been thinking I should just wait until I get in game to find a LS but what the heck it couldn't hurt to start off the bat with knowing people already, right? :) Sounds like it would be a nice group of people to be around, I'll check out your forums!

Out of all the members we have right now, only one person has filled out anything resembling an app. You don't have to fill it out to get accepted, but if we don't recognize your name from either playing FFXI with you or here on Zam, that's the best way to let us know who you are.

The LS is named after that company. For those that haven't looked at my forum, naming the LS BASF was an inside joke between a friend and I. My cousin played the original Final Fantasy on the NES, and had a party of three Warriors and one Red Mage. The name of the Red Mage (since you were limited to four characters back then) was BASF.

In fact, the original site was set up for a CoP LS I tried to start back in 2007. The running joke was, because of the origin of the name, you had to level RDM to get in.

Ahh. I just had bad flashbacks of other MMOs. Every time I would think about joining a guild, I would always be directed to an application. Drove me nuts.

I think alot of endgame guilds do that. They want to know what gear you have, your prior MMO experience, your mother's maiden name, etc.

I don't really care about any of that. As far as I'm concerned, it's a new game, thus it's a level playing field for everyone.

With no formal server list yet, we haven't decided. A couple of the other posters and I were in the same roleplaying LS on Garuda a few years back. While we're not strictly a RP LS, the thought of playing on a RP server (whether official or not) is still open for discussion. If that's what we end up doing, we'll probably keep it very light, limited to special events and so forth.

Ominousrabbit (one of the other admins) and I are both from Wisconsin, so there will probably be numerous discussions of local events, beer, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, cheese, women, and more beer.

Is your LS set up in the Beta?

I didn't bother. There's only two of us playing the beta right now, and we're on different servers.

I did, however, make a LS with my Hyur Conjurer on Shadowlord, just so I could see what the different LS crests look like. I called it Vanadiel Refugees.

If you start recruiting in the beta, it might help grow your numbers for release. I play on Ultimicia right now, but my character isn't too far along and I can switch servers without issue. Let me know if you want to give it a shot.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. I just made a post on the BASF forum discussing options for a linkshell crest. Once I get a few ideas, I'll try starting a new LS on Shadowlord with the name BASF and we'll go from there.

A small town called Eagle River. Take I-94 to Hwy 51 and drive north for about 4 hours, then it branches off to Hwy 17.

We get alot of people up here for the summer; younger kids for some of the camps, older people (usually men) for fishing on any of the numerous lakes around here.

Eagle River is also famous for its cranberries. If you buy cranberry juice, chances are it came from berries harvested in the area.

Also, we had a young local woman, Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej, play for the US women's hockey team at the Olympics in Vancouver this year. She ended up being our Fourth of July honorary parade marshall. The kids loved it, as hockey is HUGE around here. She went down the parade route on rollerblades, taking pictures with the kids holding her silver medal. Two other guys from our area used to play hockey professionally. Incidentally, one of the guys' parents are my landlords.

Go KC Chiefs! We might win several games this year! And others we might barely lose!

As soon as I saw BASF, I thought of VHS. I'm glad to see I was not wrong.
