Hello, Besaid! I will be playing Gadhelyn Appledore, a Wildwood Elezen. I'm going to be first focusing on DOH, hopefully with alchemist at the forefront. Once we're able to get the PS3 running this, my wife will join and I'll switch over to a combat role as well!
Those of you from Garuda may remember me as Gadhelyn there. I actually tried to design my XIV character after my XI.

Looks like me and my friends are moving here to Besaid. So i figure I will introduce myself. I will be starting from CE release here in Japan :)
My ingame character name will be Segev Oren
I am pretty sure i am going to be a Lala Plainsfolk male (to many beautiful characters i could make >.<)
My friends want to start in Gridania but I am unsure...kinda wanna do uld myself (not a long walk anyways)
Glad will be my main i think and armorsmith craft main
I wont be RP but I feel ok about this now cuz at first I was worried but seems like everyone is kinda excepting of whatever you are.
I will be looking to join a EN LS also for...my lazy days (JP is my second language...so sometimes i wanna speak EN haha)

I'm afraid as it is at the moment there really isn't anything like a pure healer. It appears SE is giving almost every class a way to heal themselves. You can try and skill up about 10 classes so you can then join all their skills into one but I'm not sure how useful or rvrn viable it would be since skill from different classes tend to not be as effective as skill from the class in use.

I know there's no WHM or anything like in FFXI and that annoyed me there wouldn't be a specific "healer" class starting out in FFXIV... but that sucks if I still can't even be close to a pure healer even with all my mixed skills......
Btw, it's Escandalosa. I was having a prob w/ my other account so this is my new one now.

If you're willing to put the effort into it I think it could be done, just get all relevant healing skills into one class. The thing is that with classes having their own healing skills the actual party formation might not need a dedicated healer.
Anyway I think this is still too early to make defenite statements on this issue.
Hai Besaidians! I'll be playing a Mi'Qote...not sure on the class yet. I'm in a toss up between Pugilist and Marauder. My character's name will either be Mateyah Sol or Nevaeh Sol. I'm not a hardcore RPer but I do enjoy "getting into character" sometimes. Pleased to meet everyone and best of luck in game! :3

Saego here and I will be playing a Plainsfolk Lalafell Pugilist named Milkshakes Delphinium. I know the name is a little odd but it comes from when I played 11 and I firmly believe all Tarus should be named after food. So I recreated my Taru as a Lalafell and gave him the last name of a flower (my wife's idea, but I like it). So yea I will be playing Pugilist almost exclusively and I am looking forward to this community. I think we have a great thing going here.

Hai! I am following GunslingerXVI into the new adventuring worrrld of FFXIV.
In FFXI I was Xilastae of Lakshmi server. I played for 5 years (War/Drg). Ish... I played WoW for 5 years (Ret Pld), ish, and quit about a year and a half ago. I played Aion for 10 months (Gladiator) and still do enjoy playing it. I adore the melee classes in most games. FFXIV will be the first I will attempt playing a caster. So, you may not want to choose me as your lead healer >.> Heads up, lol!

~ I will MTL be a Conjurer, but that is subject to change for I am one who can not make up her mind. I would like to become a Weaver, but I do not know how crafting works as of yet.

I progress slowly as I tend to play games at my own pace. I am often behind the times. I enjoy Role Playing, and I deeply respect those who partake. When it comes to MMO's I am a constant member, especially when I have friends to enjoy the experience with... though I do not level but every so often. I find enjoyment in things that no one else does like: exploring or holiday events.
I despise raiding! That is something no one will ever draw me into wasting my time on. I do not enjoy being yelled at by someone younger than me because I am not wonderful with playing my class. (WoW) But that is in the past, correct?
But, overall I am respectful of others. If you love simply exploring or having someone to chat with, please send me a /whisper any time. I do enjoy having company. But please let me know if we are supposed to be IC or OOC, lol! If you need help with anything at all, please be sure to ask me. If I do not know the answer, I have many people who I can ask for you. Hey everyone! I'm new here, so i figured this was the best place to start. Kos Malakir, out of Limsa Lominsa. on Besaid. I'm currently Pugilist/Weaver, but I'm fairly certain, having made a few characters to play around with, that I'll be re-rolling as a Marauder, and leveling miner/blacksmith/armorer as equally as possible. Name is subject to change at the moment also. I have a little experience with MMO's in the past, including Aion and WoW. I'm ideally looking for a fun group to play with, and join an RP linkshell, so I can try my hand at it. Looking forward to seeing you all server-side!

Why bother making a new character? (FYI, the term "rolling" is disliked by FFXI & FFXIV players, as is "toon".) Just pick up an axe and be a Marauder. This isn't WoW; you don't have to make a new character to be a different class.

I was unaware "rolling" was frowned upon, as I didn't play FFXI, thanks for the heads up.
As far as why make another character, there are two reasons. I am not completely in love with the current name, so I made one spur of the moment on release day to try out a few classes. The other is appearance. I had an hour and a half yesterday to play, after class and before social obligations, so I didn't focus too intensely on character creation. If this were simply a matter of choosing a new class, I would merely switch in game, as you have suggested. It is more an issue of creating a persona I am content with, though, so I'd like to start from square one.

Just a head's up, be careful when creating a new character, I think Besaid is getting on up there in terms of players. Not sure if it is one of the ones that is blocked for character creation. You may delete your character and find you can't roll on the server again until it becomes unlocked.

Thank you for the concern. I've actually been keeping track of that, just to be on the safe side. As of this morning, nothing I saw on the Lodestone mentioned Besaid being blocked. Also, because I would be changing my character name, before deleting my current character, I would create the other, just to be safe.
