The Crafter Consortium, or The Consortium for short, is a linkshell for the DoH and DoL characters of Besaid Server. Membership is open to all. The purpose behind The Consortium is to provide a common group of DoH and DoL to make dealing with the economy and the market system of XIV easier for all. So if you plan on working on DoH or DoL, please join, we will try to approve your account quickly, and get linkpearls to everyone as soon as possible after release. If you aren't going to play DoH or DoL, feel free to stop by anyway to meet people who could be approached later for repairs or gear or materials!

Just to clarify one thing: There's no requirement to even pick up a linkpearl. If you're a DoH/DoL, then please feel free to join the forums and post your member profile, your retainer locations, and be available for synth requests, that is all we ask. If you wish for a linkpearl, then you can get ahold of me post-release.

With the new information today, having such a linkshell may become more important, as it appears larger projects may need the cooperation of multiple crafters and some guildleves will require a crafter participation.
Agreed. I currently run a linkshell, but I think it would be a good decision to join a crafters-only linkshell too to keep track of larger projects and find people to make materials I may need in the long run. Good choice!

I will be getting the CE, but won't be able to get on much until the 25th as I present in seminar on the 24th.
I think this is a good idea, if I play enough I will join. I want to play, but the lack of an ah is really putting me off lol. Will see how it goes when I can play knowing my character won't be wiped away.
I just noticed I didn't actually post this here. One of the things I added to The Consortium forums is a section for Friends of the Consortium.
Linkshells: if you have members of your shell who are DoH/DoL and/or just want to make it easier for members of your shell to find materials or crafted items, you can "ally" with The Consortium. Friends of the Consortium can post blurbs about your shell on our forums, including links, for exposure/recruiting purposes/whatnot. In exchange we ask that we can post a similar blurb on your forums (assuming you have them) in order to get as many DoH/DoL players to register and post their stats with us.
The more people we get posting their DoH/DoL details, and the more people from Besaid we can get to visit and do business with Consortium members, the more successful we will be!
If you wish to ally with The Consortium, you can send me a PM or just sign up on our forums.

The Thread in the General Forum was a joke aimed at all the first time posters who simply come to troll and complain.

I joined, but then I had to activate (which is fine you do on most forums) but to add to that I now have to wait for an admin to accept my account. That seems like an added unnecessary step that may steer people who sign up away from posting since they have to wait.
It's actually just a step I've used in the past, at least gives the illusion of security. Ever had a forums hit by a spambot? Waking up and finding 150 pages of spam posts was not fun. It took the moderator staff the better part of the day to get rid of it all. I don't know what else proboards may have added to prevent such things, but the admin approval's just a small, one time thing that seems to work nicely.
I do apologize for the delay in approval, unfortunately I do have other things needing my attention, such as sleep :)

Besaid Server! Have you already joined the Consortium's forums (I think we're nearing or at 35 members so far!)? Maybe you're just now hearing about it. THe Crafter Consortium will be having a Pearl Party this Saturday night starting at 6 PM Central. I'll be hanging out in Gridania handing out pearls. If I can get a couple people to help out with the distribution, perhaps I can get people stationed in Ul'Dah and Limsa Limosa as well.
