Bootleg Auction HousFollow

I was just thinking for the sake of our server somebody could create a post where people can post their item for sale.
The person responsible for the AH will only be updating for the most common search item and only the lowest price?

It seem like a big job, but it could be helpful, also am pretty sure there is another way of making this idea more efficient.

Please input your thought and idea!

This is a two way street.. it can either be easy or hard. On FF11 we had a webpage that gave us up to date almost real time movement of all the AH on each of the servers.... But FF14 is different ... there is NO AH so to create this page it would be all community based. So if you don't post it won't show. If you don't communicate we can't keep it up to date.

This idea tho of making a AH style public page as to make it easier for people to find what they need instead of shouting their heads off and possibly annoying other players in the way is really awesome. I'm willing to pitch in spread the word and gather database

Agreed, the only thing we need to discuss is how to make this efficient... I think that we should also keep track of time posted so we can have a brief idea if the item is still their or gone...

With some rather simple coding, one could make three timing options for showing the ad: 1 day, 2 days and 3 days or something. After that time, the ad disappears off the site.

See that could be done too but what if the item isn't sold in those 3 days.. or what if it was sold in an hour? if the seller/buyer doesnt inform us of the transaction we would be(50/50 chance) advertising something that doesn't exist/stopped listing something that hasn't sold; making the system a bit flawed.

The lack of AH system inside the game forces the person to hunt down crafters giving the game its social aspect. Having a page outside of the game allows "power" crafters to keep tabs on their wares and the trend of certain items. It also provides a shortcut for people looking to buy something "right now". So it is necessary for crafters to post regularly their wares and buyers to communicate their purchases.

something that would really make it more interesting is if 14 actually had a mail system like 11. If it were possible for a buyer that sees what they want on this said webpage sends a message directly to the crafter online and in response the crafter replies for instructions in order to meet up and finish the transaction. But alas 14 still doesnt have that (yet).

I have a perfect idea on how to structure the page and how to input the wares but i don't dare make this post any longer than what it is. >,< sorry if i rambled too long but this sounds like a great idea for players to use when they arent "online"

Well not having an AH does not bother me, am just concern on how we browse those retainers...

You target, menu, browse, return then re-target menu browse...
And also you have those retainer stack on others...
It's just inefficient.

So if we put time posted it would help?

Sure it would! time and day of when you start the sale of X item and just to pay it forward you would have to report when it was sold and final price of sale. I dont think its necessary to post who sold it (like they do on ffxiAH.com web site)

Well, there is a service already setup that allows players to post goods they have for sale. http://ffxiv.yg.com/ Not having an AH really doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, though. It adds a new level of involvement.

I was just about to mention that site. I use it all the time and keep my bazaar updated with what I'm selling. I've even posted offeres for Hatchets I am looking for. I've spent a week looking for hatchets in the market wards and /shouts without a single reply. It's extreamly frustrated to now be two hatchet's behind because I can not for the life of me find an upgrade anywhere.

This game needs a search feature, and bad. I just wish more people used the ffxiv.yg.com site to post their goods.

On a side note ... if any of you have a hatchet for sale, or bronze hatchet heads, I'd really like to buy one...

Yes, I do agree we could stand some sort of searching and sorting feature at least. Believe me, I wouldn't complain about having an AH, but I think we'll wind up with something that works at least equally as well.
