Is Wutai lazy or what?Follow

Ffxivpro.com has a list of the top 10 ranks in each class. I was just looking at the numbers and wondering if we are a server of underachievers? Are we mostly NA/EU players? The Japanese seem to be way more hardcore for the most part. Could it be that all the people with jobs ended up on the same server? Not a hate thread by any means, just an observation. Any thoughts?

I noticed this to,and put a little thought into why this is.Since we are pretty much behind on every job every craft across the board. We were listed last alphabetically when choosing a server,so i thought maybe we just have less people. But if i remember correctly they actually closed making a character on Wutai for a short period of time. Then there is as you say maybe a high concentration of NA/EU players and we are not as hardcore as JP players. To that i just say i don't think nationality really plays into how hard core you are,i'm sure its a person by person basis. All i do know is as a crafter i am very thankful to not already be competing with level 50's.

So what i'm really saying is your guess is as good as mine i have no idea lol

Perhaps we are more diverse? I have tried my hand and many a job. Conj, Min, Thm, Gold, Alch, Glad, Weaver, Botany, Carpenter, Armoury. My bag is full of tools xD

I've only played 4 classes, focusing on fisher and I've been doing that exclusively for a couple weeks now. I work full time and I'm not willing to sacrifice every spare moment to play the game. I think a cool feature of ffxivpro.com would be a playtime count for each player. When I look and see someone with multiple jobs over 40, or something at 50 after such a short time, I'm a little impressed, perhaps a TAD jealous. xD Seeing their playtime would completely alleviate that.

I joined Wutai because the more casual and non-elitists were in this server. I dont aim to be level 50, certainly not only in a few months of having the game. Theres far more to a MMO than grinding and our server has realized that more than the others.

I agree with the OP. All the people with jobs ended up on this server xD perhaps the name "Wutai" has more meaning to an older collection of FF fans.

Haha! Well it does certainly appear that way on the surface. I for once have been doing everything (including gathering most of the materials to level all of those craft jobs) so all in all I wouldn't consider myself "lazy" or "underachieving" just perhaps "unrealistic" and perhaps "sadistic"! You can see what I mean by looking at my tag. And for the record I'm going to start cooking tonight too so I'll have an stake in every race. Jack of all trades master of none never sounded more appropriate. And I was already too far gone before I found out exactly how this is ******** with my attaining GMs for my favorite jobs... oh well.

I do know that I'm going to need to join a decent sized West Coast (or have a West Coast component) LS soon in order to really get to leveling up some of my job classes. Shouting and looking for parties is simply not very efficient and I do miss the static parties some friends and I used to run back in FFXI. I just haven't really done any really looking for one yet. I guess I should. In fact that might be one of the variables involved here. I'm not sure, just speculating. But if there are more "solo" players on our server than it makes sense that it's taking longer to reach those higher levels.

What he said...

The majority of people who joined "Wutai" was probably from the FF7 crowd. And we all know how old FF7 is now... none of us (majority) have that type of time to invest to be numero uno for stuff on the server. We just want to enjoy our time and hope not to punch our PC Screen when a synth fails.

Other than that... they should have a "job diversity" chart and compare to other servers. You'll most likely see Wutai in the top 3 of that.

That would be a awesome feature,i would be very interested in seeing how long people took to get to certain levels.Butjust take myself for example my character is logged in All The Time.Even when i'm at work, sleeping,or just busy with other things and i'm sure most serious crafter's do the same. One retainer just isn't enough to sale all my wares so calculating actual playtime would be very difficult.

Yeah, I agree, I'm personally not in a rush to level fast at all. And I personally feel the longer it takes me to reach the cap, the more the game will be patched up for me when I am higher rank/level(let's be honest, I'm sure Square is basing their content right now based on the ranks of the MAJORITY of people playing, not the few who are already rank 40-50).

That's part of my approach too though to be honest. I don't have as much time to play games as I used to (been making more time lately though ;P) because of work, college, etc,. I think the way the system is setup in this game is a lot like FFXI but without the annoyingness of feeling like you can't get ANYTHING done unless you at least play a certain amount of hours. In FFXIV I sometimes literally get to log in for like 20 minutes and I still would have made a bunch of exp/sp just from getting to craft a couple of items or something. It may not mean much to some people, but that's a very important thing for people like us :)

I agree with you too man. I party joined Wutai because I new the older crowd of Final Fantasy fans would be on rather than the newer ones.

Off Topic: Square games I consider a dissapointment (no FFXIV isn't one of them O.o)
  • Final Fantasy XIII (All I have to say is, what the hell? Where's the actual game?)
  • Final Fantasy X-2 (I didn't hate this game but I thought it was still worth mentioning. They took such a good game and made a sequel that I felt didn't really reflect the quality of the first game. It had some interesting things in it, but overall it was just eh...
  • Crisis Core (I had to put this here because I thought it was just abysmal. The people who thought this game was good are the people I want to avoid hahaha ;P
  • Crystal Chronicles (The idea wasn't bad, it just wasn't done as well as I thought it would be.

Basically, most of the newer generation Square stuff isn't as pleasing to my appetite as their older generation stuff (FF6(3), Secret of Mana, FF7, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Secret of Evermore, Vagrant Story (crazy weird but good game, FFXIV actually reminds me of this game alot, FF 8 through 10, Final Fantasy Tactics (Superbly amazing!), and I think that's it.

Such a difference though huh?

Yes I was a teenager playing through FF7, now I'm 25 with a full-time job and two kids :) Lol, so now I don't have the time do invest in games as much. But the glory days were GREAT while they lasted. Pulling all nighters on Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, FFs, yup time to grow up. I still like to put some free time into FFs, but I'll get to 50 when I get there I guess.

I'm mostly hoping to find a great LS I can have fun with. Not one filled with little kids liking to brag that they can make Bronze Haubys :) Seems like those ones end up finding me somehow.

Personally im just taking it slower. I have eack of the melee jobs at rank 14, conjurer at 13 and thaumaturge at 10 for now. Working on crafting and gathering all at the same time. If you want to be geared decently, you kinda need to do a bit of everything.

Also 9-5 job+ Wife, and as much as i like this game, i have yet to have a party, and have no LS yet, and in general, communication is rather lacking. So seeking a party, or starting one, for me anyway, seems like a task i'd just rather put off. I'd rather just go solo stuff, or do leviquests.
