Confirmed botters on Saronia (was forum=152)Follow

#1 Feb 27 2011 at 12:25 AM Rating: Default
I have hunted all around Saronia and i have found several confirmed botters using that all are using kill bot and teleport bots. 2 in copperbell mines 5,6-> Flower Wind and Sweet Kimi. also in the Merchant wards Sarasta Rainyday craft bots all day. i have found and reported several more i just wanted to start making a list of the botters that have been seen using teleport bots and such. SE refuses to do anything about them, so as a community maybe we can shun them and they will leave the game due to no one wanting to play with them.

yes there is -> menu - support desk - report: (the bottom option) call GM and give the character Name, Map, Position, and how you know its a botter. like for Flower wind the report would be "Character Name- Flower Wind, Server- Saronia Map- Copperbell Mines Position- 5,6 i used aggro to pull mobs to her and ran off the monsters killed her and she teleported back to the exact spot she died in rather than walking back, + no reply to many tells shouts and says."

I normally choose "Other" as my category with the message title as "Character name on Server" so example "Sarasta Rainyday on Saronia"

by reporting them to the GM's they are on the hit list for careful watch over time, and by putting their name in a confirmed botting forum, they will show up here everytime someone googles them fro now on. its a community effort not just a one man/women thing

Is this a joke?

Your own spouse outted you to several people on the Saronia server as a confirmed craft bot, etc. What's your purpose for posting this?

I've noticed 1 grind bot i can not remember his name, he resides south of Broken Water, past the node and all the way down to the bottom right of the map down there, he hunts Sphene doblyns. and i noticed Flower Wind and Sweet Kimi as well. Sarasta Rainyday i just went and found your correct he was afk crafting Blacksmith in the Merchant Ward. enter and hes to the right up the stairs.

While I commend you for your noble intentions, the likelihood of them being a regular player just looking for an unfair edge are very low. What they most likely are, is a collector for gil sellers. So they won't leave over shunning, Only a ban hammer can cure the server of their most unholy of afflictions on the server.

That said, if you have proof its a regular average joe user, by all means go nuts brave soldier!

I'm guessing you never played FFXI, Squares previous MMO.

In FFXI at the start the game was full of newbs that never played MMO's before, they were shocked when they found people that botted or bought gil via RMT, these things were kept very secret because being outed made you an outcast in the community. There were witch hunts on forums etc over it, fast forward a few years and due to Squares total incompetence and players seeing others get away with it and winning hard because of it they said "you know what? me too" ***** being legit.

Botting was winning over others, making them be the loser.. standing and watching you fight the mob they wanted and taking pleasure in that, it was being able to play your job better than legits and thought of as a good player cause the bot did stuff for you, it was being 100% dependable in endgame events cause the apps again did some of the work for you (ie, stunning horrible TP moves on HNM) and ultimately for endgame, being a cheater made you an important person in the shell, someone who got gear first due to being valued. Sad huh? This is what happens when the devs can't control cheating, and the same guys are running this.

So all these things slowly became accepted, there is no serious outcry over botters anymore. Nobody truely cares and many even openly admit it with stupid justifications for doing so(ie. I bot so i can spend time with my gf! or other stupid crap). What does FFXI cheating have to do with FFXIV? Aside from the same people running the game, a lot of the players stil here are from there and have the same ingrained mind set about cheating. I don't think you actually know how widespread botting really is, you may think you can spot bots but you know what? The good programs you wont spot cause they are made to not be so obvious. Even the JPs are widespread botters and make them.

Going on a crusade out of boredom is one thing, whatever makes you happy but going on a crusade and expecting anything to come from it is another. Botting and cheating is too ingrained in MMO players for their to be an outcry over it, especially Square MMO players.

I have noticed the teleporting the last week or so and all the kill bots using it to get straight back to any camp they were using if they died. You can tell the difference between this and lag as long as you are on a fairly decent system. If you happen to be looking in the right direction they will literally walk into thin air when they teleport and at the destination they will appear from thin air (this can be really hard to see in a dungeon)

Your best chance of spotting this is where they are bound, most times it won't be the local aetheryte, but some obscure one in the middle of nowhere. If a faceroll name turns up (especially if the wrong rank for the area) just watch them for a little bit and then see them do the walk into thin air (usually once weakness has worn and fully healed)

Pretty good summary, preludes. There's mass botting (particularly craft botting) on every server, and considering the size and goals of a LS, pretty much every serious LS. I've yet to be in a sizable LS where a bunch did not bot - and I've yet to find one crafter with many DoH highly ranked who did not bot it. Recently, it seems every few days someone I suspected (based on their absurd craft levels alone) either comes out themselves or is confirmed by someone else.

Anyway, this is what happens when you let almost a decade go by without banning botters. No one is afraid of what may happen, and tolerance for botting will only continue to extend unless SE changes this fact.

nice summery but wrong... i played XI for 7 years and NEVER was being a hacker or a bot acceptable in ANY ls of mine, that was the stuff Armada and EX used to make themselves badass .. doesnt mean it was acceptable lol. Being a botter was never anything i've seen as acceptable in any MMO so i'm not sure where you got that from. We reported bots left and right on Hades and Cerberus and sure enough they disappeared a few weeks sometimes 1 or 2 months after the report

What do you mean to say? There are people, like the OP, who at times actively try to find botters.. But there are also plenty who just happen upon it. Just a day or two ago, my friend was botting her Smithing ranks (was a friend before I knew she botted, what're you gonna do). She was hiding at the lowest floor of the Arcanist's guild - she eventually logged, and when she logged back in, she saw someone crafting down there we all knew. Someone with six crafts at r47-50, unresponsive, and crafting at exact intervals.

I find it funny how so many people do something wrong so post lies like the OP here did.(assuming its a lie, im not on your server nor do i know these people) in order to get revenge.

I had someone do this with me near launch, I left their shell, and they got mad and decided to go around spreading lies about how I was a thief, and how the other guy who left was a thief, because "he rules the server, hes important and everyone has to listen to him". Needless to say he destroyed his own shell in the process of doing this.

But with all these botters now im surprised more havent come forth on this kind of defense, and as someone who crafts for 80+ hours a week myself I just can not believe that they are too busy and spammed to not see messages. I myself keep an extra chat window open with just chat channels in it so I do not miss anything sent my way. Yes I watch movies on the side, but I am never so indulged in anything as to not notice a simple line of text that scrolls by with my name in it if someone needs me.

These botters all need to be called out for what they are, we recently removed someone from our shell too who used the "my 6 year old crafts for me" excuse(he was crafting for 24 hours a day, always non responsive). So i hope more people take the intiiative to do something about it.
And out botter that I had the issue with hasnt been seen in a week, hopefuly he was caught by the GMs.

After what I've said, that's really what you think I go by? Did you not read my last post? When you consider hiding while crafting, being unresponsive during, and crafting at exact intervals, then yes, in my book you go from suspected to assumed.

Not mad in the least lol, and the fact that a 3 min text log had no reply is far from proof lol. just after the screenshot pic on that site i had replied asking "what? turn your filters off and you'd see what i'm crafting, why does it matter >.>" or something to that effect not exact words. And even if i did in the past (i didnt) at least that fact i dont now (nor did) and try to out the current botters should mean something but you wont see me walking the world very often with Rift and GW2 coming soon, that and i moved my character to Selbina for a higher population but have a mule on a few other worlds. I'm trying to help this community way to show your gratitude... But can we keep this thread with its purpose to expose bots not for idle chit chat please. I'm making an effort to expose the normal player bots to the community rather then just throw random info with no real back up on the site >.>. please post name, map, position, and how you confirmed them as a bot on here thank you.

such bots like the position hack bot is the ones that are easist to spot, PK them by using a aggro mob nearby and if they reappear after weakened in the same spot without running there then boom headshot "confirmed"

the lack of replys isnt proof.. we have filters and many players are not into chatting, thats why i use /say /tell /shout /em "<hello!>" to try and communicate before i put them into possible bot catagory. perfect interveals is another good way to make them a possible botter, however many players spam standard as fast as they can when making mat items or mass producing items that are easy enough to make without special actions. there is only a few ways to confirm them .. the teleport bot is the only i know for sure.

I've been reporting botters almost every single day now. Always the same people. Able to scale impossible cliffs without worry, claim monsters from any distance, and run in the same routine/path set out over and over. It really is blatently obvious. But 5 hours later, the same botters are still there, no one came to have a look and saw them run up a bunch of cliffs they could not have run up any other way. They're still there. No one did anything.

Even used the STF website to report them several times a day now, since the GM call gives you a bloody automated message saying you have to report them somewhere else. It's been two days now and i still see Boths Huame and Make Srtde in the same caves botting the fireflies.

GM's dont give a crap, STF doesnt give a crap, and i get tired of trying to outclaim them after a while. Way to ruin the game even before it's launched.

dont worry Kojiro i have confidence that after SE fixes the game they will crack down on the bots and hacks just like they did in XI :) Selbina has alot of botters atm but we'll beat them. i just recently joined your sever :)
