Confirmed botters on Saronia (was forum=152)Follow

#27 Feb 27 2011 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
I don't report them anymore. I feel that the customer service is non-existent. I provided the name, server, map, nearby camp, grid location, AND I waited next to the botter so that the GM could just use me as a teleport beacon and all I got was a copypasta reply saying I should report via the support website.

I thought I was doing them a favor by reporting, however, if they are going to make me jump through dozens of hoops and quite frankly ignore the concern then I will not bother. It's no wonder RMT was rampant in FFXI, they have NO customer support whatsoever.

Idk what server ya'll played on but on my servers the RMT problem was countered efficiently whenever we reported them. I think SE will start banning people once the game is in working condition and player base is growing.

After what I've said, that's really what you think I go by? Did you not read my last post? When you consider hiding while crafting, being unresponsive during, and crafting at exact intervals, then yes, in my book you go from suspected to assumed.

You've said very little, and when I originally quoted you you had said even less. But, more importantly, what YOU go by wasn't my point, was it?

There are plenty of bots out there; this is not a point that anyone is arguing. But the whole "Someone told me X is a botter" thing leads to an unhealthy and unhelpful witch-hunt mentality that often results from "evidence" as thin as ignoring an annoying player while fishing.

If YOU see someone you think is a botter, report it, and complain about it here if you really feel the need to go down that road yet again. If someone else TELLS you someone is a botter, then I suppose you can choose how you want to react to that player if the opportunity comes up. But, complaining on a forum that other people are telling you about botters is, in my opinion, a bit much, and doesn't add anything new to the discussion. This place feels enough like junior high as it is.

Did I say "Someone told me X is a botter," or did I list off a complete set of criteria from which (if they meet them all), I'm willing to go ahead and now assume the worst?

I feel I was more stating my perception of the craft/botting world than complaining, but take it however you wish.

I think this thread has stated like 5 times now that we should only post a botters name on here if there is proof such watching them teleport into a grind camp that you can not teleport into after they dies and such. or running up a straight wall like they do south of broken water.

Not mad in the least lol, and the fact that a 3 min text log had no reply is far from proof lol. just after the screenshot pic on that site i had replied asking "what? turn your filters off and you'd see what i'm crafting, why does it matter >.>" or something to that effect not exact words. And even if i did in the past (i didnt) at least that fact i dont now (nor did) and try to out the current botters should mean something but you wont see me walking the world very often with Rift and GW2 coming soon, that and i moved my character to Selbina for a higher population but have a mule on a few other worlds. I'm trying to help this community way to show your gratitude... But can we keep this thread with its purpose to expose bots not for idle chit chat please. I'm making an effort to expose the normal player bots to the community rather then just throw random info with no real back up on the site >.>. please post name, map, position, and how you confirmed them as a bot on here thank you.

such bots like the position hack bot is the ones that are easist to spot, PK them by using a aggro mob nearby and if they reappear after weakened in the same spot without running there then boom headshot "confirmed"

the lack of replys isnt proof.. we have filters and many players are not into chatting, thats why i use /say /tell /shout /em "<hello!>" to try and communicate before i put them into possible bot catagory. perfect interveals is another good way to make them a possible botter, however many players spam standard as fast as they can when making mat items or mass producing items that are easy enough to make without special actions. there is only a few ways to confirm them .. the teleport bot is the only i know for sure.

What was discussed in the thread and pics in the link from my earlier post was hardly an isolated incident. I don't need to sit here and sling mud back and forth with you. You were removed from a linkshell for "botting" among other things and I think that says enough.

I Played a Lot of mmos over the last 12 Years. And this witchhunt for botters grows and grows. I think it is ridicoulos to Hunt them cause they will Be there. Play your Game As u like and Thais it. You can mourn about it. There will Be banwaves from Time to Time but they will Be there again that Sems to Be the Nature of todays mmos. And i think its Inside the structure of mmos, in a Way they ASK u to bot, People cant stay the urge to use it it is too promising to them and so they take the Risk. Getting angry about them just Ruins your Day and chnanges nothing.

Cheating on an MMORPG is just ******* pathetic.

Seriously, does being a rank 50 gladiator douchebag who NEVER experienced what it's like to actually ACCOMPLISH that rank make you happy?

This should be addressed after Square-Enix gets done with... PvP.

If progress in the game means to do things that get so goddamn repetitive I can see the urge arise for letting something else do it for you. Hell, crafting for me atm is just pressing standard synth all the time without even watching the screen and maybe throw in a maker's muse in a hard synth. But botting is ofcourse unfair to those who do not bot so either everyone should bot or noone should :p Maybe if the game gets more popular after the PS3 release they might develop a policy towards botting but at this moment I dont see it happening..

Good news. Finally got a GM to look at the botters i kept running into. Got dealt with shortly after. Apparently GM's are not allowed to do anything about bots and cheaters currently :x

Everything has to be reported in with the STF, who take about a week long cue before they have the time to look at things.

But all the good news also has bad news. 10 minutes later another botter took over the camp while i was still in it ~.~

The botters in this game are no different with people that have no work and can play the game 20 hours a day.
So that's why GM can't do much anything about botter that got report from player.
They need investigation the reported player behavior to make sure that their value customers really do using bot and not just hit spam enter while they watching TV, Anime, etc. ( as far as I know, some bot have tell alert so they have better chance to reply to /teller more than people that just spam enter and didnt watch screen haha )

I hope the new crafting system will have something more fun than hitting normal sync for 6 hours a day. I bet if they have more "Fun+Rewarding" system, the botter will decrease.

Well lots of people wouldnt even bother crafting or craft botting if the repair of gear was not needed.. i probably wouldnt't craft if i didnt have to repair my crap... most people in XI didnt craft cause it was mainly for making money unlike in this game, money is so abundant crafting isnt needed to make good gil.

repairing gear blows....

The bottom line here, as I see it, is this.

Prince Tricky is a person who is either mentally ill or disturbed in such a manner that what he is saying is typically a deception of some kind. Aside from the accusations of cheating that were made against him and confirmed over voice chat with his alleged spouse, he was also caught using an alternate character to re-enter the Hard Reef linkshell. Throughout multiple personal conversations with this player it was found that he is a compulsive liar, as he never could keep his stories straight.

I will agree though, the notion of removing bots from the FFXIV community is great. However, aside from notifying the Square Enix Special Task Force when you have a suspicion there is not much else you can do. If people want to stand around with their pitchforks and torches and stone people to death, then so be it. To me, that is a waste of time as I came here to play a videogame, I'd rather let Square Enix deal with it. It is good to report suspicious activity though, it only takes a few minutes and eventually these players will be dealt with by the true authorities of this game world.

Here is the website where you can report suspcious players:
Square Enix Support

Scroll down to the section "Report to Special Task Force" and select a report type, then click Next. Fill out the report as accurately as possible and submit it. Make sure to note the characters full name, location and time of the event as this will help.

*EDIT* Just throwing in a little snidget I found this evening in a recent interview with Yoshi-P, as you can see this is also a priority for Square Enix and is not truly on the back burner.

FinalFantasy14.eu :

Have you taken any measure against RMT and botting? It’s easily noticable that they are quite a lot already.

Naoki Yoshida :

We had to stop the STF activity because we have a new team, and started working two weeks ago. And when Sundi is back in the office after this business trip, the team will report to him like what has been done among the STF team. The GMs are also helping the STF team looking into the bot issues, so this area you will see improvements. Before RMT botting, there are also hacking problem. As you may already noticed in the last patch, we have made changes to the billing side, and if we see a difference in the login patterns, then we will block that account so it looks like it's kind of working and of course we will keep an eye on it, but hopefully the compromised accounts will decrease.

Thanks Tricky, for the lolz!

The TL;DR version of this thread:

Poetic Justice uses Punishing Barbs.
Prince Tricky is defeated!

The disorder you are referring to is that of compulsive liar's, a quite common personality disorder amoung people that play games too much and seek to find an alternative world/life to be in, they often craft a story and stick to it though, his shakyness is strange normally those type of people stick to their lies so closly they start to believe in them themselves. Kinda a sad fate when ya think about it.... I personal am glad to see him leave the game, weather he's trying to help or not. you only get 1 chance mess up and the community shouldn't forgive ya.

Quite the change in attitude there Prince, or should I call you Dante. I'm sure the FFXIV community will be better off if you leave. Why don't you try playing solitaire, just don't abuse the "hint" option. Goodbye, and good riddance.
