Undead/Draenei/Night Elf Ranger?Follow

#1 Sep 24 2012 at 8:51 PM Rating: Decent
I'm new to World of Warcraft and I was just curious on peoples thoughts on these three classes. I think that I have tried every class but for some reason I like these three :) I wouldn't mind hearing all opinions about any class to be honest. I've read the Wiki about them all but I want to hear what people have to say :)

Well since there isn't a Ranger class, it'd be tough to say.

Assuming you're just retarded and meant Hunter, it more matters what you intend to do with the Hunter, and which faction you want to play on.

For Horde, you're left with Undead. For Alliance, you're choosing between Draenei and NE, and it really depends on what you want to do. If your intent is min/maxing, neither class is optimal for either role they may fill (PvE/PvP). For PvE, Worgen is the clear choice, and for PvP Human is the clear choice.

Looks like he's new to the game, so he might have thought the Hunter was the Ranger. WoW is one of the only fantasy MMOs where a ranged class (sometimes with a pet) is called a Hunter. Rift, Guild Wars 2, EverQuest, FFXI and LOTRO all call it a Ranger.

Anyway, jabberwocky24, a small note on classes and races. The Undead (Forsaken), Draenei and Night Elves are races. The Hunter is a class. For instance, a Worgen Druid is of the Worgen race and Druid class. A Worgen Feral Druid is of the Worgen race, the Druid class and the Feral specialization (spec).

As for choosing between the three, here are some aesthetic pointers:

Male (possibly female as well) Draenei, when wielding a rifle, do a sort of spinning reload after every shot. It looks kinda neat, but some people find it incredibly annoying in the long run. The male Night Elf holds his bow horizontally instead of vertically when firing while looking like he's surfing (stealth animation as well). Finally, the Undead, when wearing armor, have gaping holes where their elbows and knees used to be. These holes exist in the armor as well, which means you can see bone sticking through your mail armor.

Just something to be aware of before you regret it later. However, if you later on find out that you dislike your race, it's possible to pay Blizzard to change your race. It's a feature in your Account Management on the official website. They charge some kind of fee (don't remember how much) and then "unlock" your race, prompting you to pick a new race upon the next login. NOTE: If you're low level, it's cheaper and faster to just delete your character and start a new Hunter with the race you prefer.

Personally, I prefer the Night Elves, but that goes back to my Warcraft 3 playing days. Unfortunately, I cannot stand the male Night Elf firing stance. Having practiced archery for some years, I know that it's a very uncomfortable and imprecise way to shoot with a bow (can't aim worth a damn). I know it's a fantasy game and realism is not a known word in the Azerothian dictionary, but it still annoys me. As such, my Hunter was a Dwarf when he was Alliance. Dwarfs are awesome and they drink lots of beer. My kinda guys! Their shooting animations are also pretty neutral.

Right now, my Hunter is a Blood Elf named Sergeant Stewpid. His pet, Imwith, follows him everywhere.

Anyway, pick the race (Undead, Draenei, Night Elf) you feel interests you most. Like Theo said, the three races you've found interest in are divided between the Horde and Alliance faction. Do you prefer to be a member of the Horde or the Alliance?

Oh, and welcome to the game. Smiley: smile

Thank you very much Mazra. I think you're the only nice person to reply to one of my threads. Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm retarded. I know you can go on Youtube and listen to people ramble on about what is the best so I posted this thread to see what people had to say about the races.

Jabber, you'll find that Theo is always like that and you have to take it with a grain of salt. He's also one of the few on these forums that knows a lot about the toons he focuses his time on and knows what he's talking about with theorycrafting and what would work best. You'll eventually find that, in general, people (including Theo) are pretty helpful among these forums even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it. Maz already explained everything perfectly so I won't bother trying to to go into further detail. Hope you enjoy the game and hopefully you eventually become a regular around here!

Thanks for trying to explain, but people either figure it out, or they don't.

Frankly I can't just be helpful, or users on these forums would want to be spoon-fed everything.

Most of the regulars seem to have figured me out; I'll insult you, but I'll also try to temper that with some good advice. The more reasonable your post is (i.e. the more you try and educate yourself), the less I'll insult you, hence why the OP didn't get a full-on dose of the Theo Flame Postâ„¢, because his post was actually written in English.

Theo works for Apple and they've been working overtime lately with customer support because of the iMaps thing, so don't worry about him. Smiley: lol

Sorry, couldn't resist. A friend posted a screen capture from his iPhone 5 with iMaps open and the entire map was covered by a cloud. You could only see the start and end dots and the line connecting them. Hilarious.

And Pold, get your own fans! He's mine! My own! LEAVE JABBER ALONE! Smiley: cry

Yeah but I don't have any interaction with customers. At all.

Everyone figured out pretty quickly that having me interact with customers is a retarded idea.

Aww, you're missing out on all the fun by not interacting with customers.

Oh trust me, I thought it was hilarious. When a customer said they wanted an iPad because "it can do basically everything a computer can" and I laughed in their face and told them, "no it can't," it made my day.

Didn't really make them feel great, though. Smiley: oyvey

You can play Facebook games on it, which I dare say is probably the number one use of computers in America right now.

Tell me truthfully: How much eyeshadow and mascara are you wearing right now?

But seriously, it seems silly if that's what he's doing.
