So is the problem that niether your PS2 nor the laptop will get on the internet itself, or is it a connectivity issue with POL?
What kind of network hardware is involved? Are you just hooking your PS2 and that laptop straight up to the modem or are you using a router?

I think its the internet itself, the computer that was here when they set it up is the only thing i can connect to the internet, ive tried hooking my ps2 directkly to the modem and still didnt work, i have a router, the computer works, but my ps2 wont, nor will the laptop i tried.

Do you have a router?

Reset your router to the default state. then clear your IP stack ont he PC using ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /flushdns commands from the start:run bommand box. Also reset your internet explorer settings to default, clear your cache files, and delete all objects, temporary files, and or cookies you might have stored (the objects can be deleted via (view objects) int eh temporary internet file clearing option window.

If what Kaolian suggested doesn't work, it's posible that your ISP authenticates by MAC address. I know it was pretty common practice down here for a while, but I haven't done domestic IT work in a while, so it's been a while since I've had to mess with this kind of stuff.
If they do, than that one computer will be the only one that works with your internet. However, your router should have a feature built into it to trick your modem. Linksys calls it MAC cloning. I'm not sure what brandname router you have, but it should be something like that.
On the computer that always works, go to start, pick run, type cmd and press enter. That should bring up a black dialouge box. In that box type "ipconfig /all" It should bring up something that looks kinda like this:
http://omegabrian.googlepages.com/macaddy.JPG
that line that I marked will have your MAC address. It will be 6 pairs of numbers and letters. write it down.
Next, log into your router and find where you can assign it a MAC address. That should be specified in the manual for your router. I took a page out of the manual for the Linksys WRT54GL for an example of what you should be looking for:

IF your ISP is authenticating via MAC address, this should effectively trick your modem into thinking the original computer is still hooked straight up to it. I'd supply more detailed instructions but it will vary widely depending on the make/model of your router.

Good luck :D

I have a Network Everywhere router, it says Linksys on it too, its a fast ethernet 10/100 5 port hub, except there wasnt a manual in the box so all i know is the specifics the box says, the model number is NH1005-WM, anyways ill try what you said, hopefully it works.

Ah. That's actually not a router, it's just a hub. All a hub does is take any traffic that comes into it and repeat it back out all the other ports.

Is it an WR850 series?
Here's the manual:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/WR850g/downloads/wr850g_userguide_6.1.4.pdf
Go to page 52, it explains how to set up MAC address spoofing/emulation/cloning whatever you want to call it
if it's not that specific model, it should be something similar. most manufacturers tend to have very similar interfaces between their varying products.

At first when we tried hooking the router up, the signal light was always red, then we configured it, then it was green, but anything connected to it wont work, i dont think the connection is going past the router.

this sucks, the computer used to be able to at least detect the router so i could configure it, but now it wont even detect it, i might as well just buy a new router.
