>_> I hope one of you knows sumtin' bout HDDs cuz I'm REALLY desprate here.

About half a year ago my PS2 started to lag online beyond no compare. At first I thought it was my internet connection but it cant be because my firneds runs faster than mine and he's using dial up, I'm using a cabel modem. the other day I tried running unline again but it was still going slow. My firend told me it had something to do with my HDD and that I needed to clean it or something. If this is ture, PLEASE HELP ME.

Side Note: When I say lagging I mean like loads take about 5 minutes and what not. Even Play Online load screens take what seems hours. If you need a more detailed explanation of my problem I'll be happy to give one.

Have you tried formatting the drive and reinstalling FFXI and POL?

You still have the FFXI software that came with it right?

Read your instructions, but you should be able to format the drive, and reinstall your FFXI and POL software. Patching and updates will take a while, but what have you got to lose?

I had this happen and for me the problem was the PS2, not the network adapter or the HDD. I put the HDD and NA in my brother's PS2 and it worked fine again. It was strange, my PS2 would play any other game just fine, but was very sluggish when it had to access the HDD.

Who just gave that advice? I played FFXI on the PC so I've never run into this problem.

I would suggest trying to put the HDD and NA in another PS2 and see if it works. Of course moving that over always increases the risk you could f-up the HDD or data stored on it, so do so at your own risk.

I tried both formatting and switching PS2s. Neither worked, but the other PS2 was kinda old so I'm goign to try it on a newer one later. @_@;
