I recently won a smaller 15000rpm Velociraptor Hard Drive and I think I'd like to move XIV and another game or two to it. I know how to move the files and such, but I'm wondering if there's a way for keep XIV from writing to my boot drive which is a SSD. I'm ok with it writing some files I suppose, but it annoys me that screenshots and updates are saved on that drive.

My current setup has XIV installed on a non-boot drive, but it's always writing to C: for updates and such.

I know how to force other programs to keep away from my boot disk, but I can't figure out how to do it for XIV. The rest of my SE PC games behave and keep all their baggage on the appropriate drive.

Thanks for any assistance

Could you symlink the C:/<whatvever>/Games/<SE> folder to your HDD? That is, create a symbolic link of whatever directories the game wants to create on the OS drive (SSD) and have it point to the HDD?

The game will think it's writing to C:/ where in reality it would be going to your D:/ or whatever it may be.

This is definitely a hack in absence of any other solution, but it should work.
