So I got a $100 giftcard from Amazon.com the other day. I have been thinking of getting one of those Tablet PC's but after looking around I am overwhelmed abit. I would like to spend int he 150 - 180 range. Not sure what stats to look for but I would like to get something that isn't junk. Have been reading some customer reviews (which obviously need to be taken with a grain of salt) and every time I see one that has what looks like good stats I see tons of 1 star reviews.

I don't want to get something that is so slow that I can't do anything with it. I don't expect a high end powerhouse for what I am looking to pay just don't want junk. Anybody have some suggestions? It has to be from Amazon.com since I have the giftcard.

Not going to happen.

The 7" tablets are too small for normal web browsing so they tend to get used for very specific purposes.

Motorola has the Xoom line, Samsung has the Galaxy line. Both are $500+. Everything else is garbage.

if you have a specific purpose in mind, we might be able to find something. If you're just looking for the experience, save your money until ice cream sandwich is released (or Win 8), then get a higher end tablet.

Edit: You could get a Kindle Fire. I have one and I love it. Just keep in mind it's not a tablet, it's a color/multimedia e-reader. I don't really care what they call it, it's not a tablet in the sense that the general public think of tablets.

Agreed. a usable tablet is going to start in the $250 range on contract with a cell phone vendor and go up from there. Kindle fire / nook tablet is an option, but try one out before you buy. There are also crappy slow resistive screen imports on ebay in the cheaper range, but they have too little horsepower in most cases to be usefulfor anything, and pretty much require a stylus and lack multitouch.

One of the samsung tablets is the way you want to go, but they are speeeeendy

Yeah it really depends on what you're looking to do and how you're looking to do it. If you want to go through contract with a cell service it will tend to cost a bit more.. if you just want one with wifi, it will be a bit less. As previously stated a good tablet that can browse the web will easily start around $250-300 range.

I personally use a Motorola Xoom Family Edition that I got from Best Buy and it works great. It has a mini-hdmi out port to connect to HDTV, micro usb so you can connect external HD's, micro sd card slot for expansion and a decent processor for quick processing.
