Yeah, newegg is great!

Newegg just tried to **** me over on a $40 rebate so I can't exactly get on board the love train.

It did serve as a reminder to why I never include rebate "savings" into an item's cost.

She's done, up and running!

Had a few minor problems, about had a heart attack when I plugged everything in, hit the power button and.....nothing.

Here, it turns out that the two 2x2pin power plugs that are meant to plug into the mobo up by the CPU... on this particular mobo, there are latching tabs on TWO sides of the 2x2pin plug-in. Apparently, only one of them will actually power the mobo. Switched it and it booted up just fine. WHEW. lol.

And... for some lame *** reason, this HAF case advertises you can stick a 200mm fan on top.... nope. The fan will not physically fit in the case, even though there are ***** holes for the 200mm fan. Maybe if you got an exceptionally *thin* fan, maybe. But the mobo tray is in the way.

I took some pics:

Here, you can get an idea of what I mean -- the mobo tray goes all the way up to the top of the case and there's no way you're getting a 200mm fan in there.

I suck at cables, lol. not quite finished, I haven't mounted the side fan yet, and I haven't attached the USB headers yet, I want to make sure the thing works and my fingers were getting tired.

This is ultimately how I had to fix the top fan problem -- I simply mounted the fan ontop of the chassis. Since it is an exhaust fan, surely dust shouldn't collect ontop of it too badly (no more than it would if the fan were inside the case, anyways).

Seems to be working OK, I haven't tested it under load, it was idling at 35C after installing Win7 when I checked it during one of its restarts, so far so good.

EDIT: BTW, the fan in the 3rd pic really is running -- I'm surprised the camera captured the fan blades without blurring. Dang they're making cameras awesome nowadays. That fan runs at about 800 RPM and is virtually silent.

Apparently those 200mm fans are too thick for the front, too -- the front fan was making noise (and running 300rpm slower than the top one) because the front of the case was actually pushing against the fan. easily fixed by leaving the front panel sprung just a little... but still. meh. at least it stopped making the noise.

Looks good! The 200mm fan should theoretically fit inside the case, that's what that relief notch in the motherboard tray is for, but maybe it only takes a cooler master fan?

Most motherboards have a dual 4x core voltage slot to allow for stabilization of multi core processors. the particular board you have though doesn't have that second power slot though. That is wierd they put connectors on both sides though. Usually iy's keyed to only even fit in the socket one way.

It is a Cooler Master fan. That's why I was so confused as to why it won't fit in the case, lol. at least I was able to find a work-around.

Yeah, that's what I thought! When I pulled the first plug off... I felt the Other latch tab with my finger and I was like "wut? latch tabs on 2 different sides of the plug?" then I grabbed the other plug and sure enough, it fit by using the Other latch tab and then it booted right up.

That was... strange.

This one reportedly fits internally: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17424/fan-1137/Aerocool_Silent_Master_200mm_x_20mm_Ultra_Thin_Fan_-_Red_LED.html#blank if you ever decide to swap the other one out.

No AC, room temp about 75-80, I played Warframe for about 30min and checked temps:

GPU: ~48C
CPU: ~51C

Not bad, with the room being hot enough to make me sweat.

123 f for the CPU then, so not bad at all. You should get another 2 degree drop over the next couple of days as the thermal grease cures too.
