Can anyone geive any advice on how to get through this quest? Everytime I have done it the other NPC dies because he doesnt heal himself. I have tried taking the aggro of the wolfs with area attacks but still I can get EVERY wolf off of him and more come along. What am I doing wrong?

I did it at lvl 21 on the second try after eating some food but mostly moving around A LOT to avoid whatever aoe the wolves were doing, and spamming Heavy Swing > Skull Sunder, with Overpower, Fracture and Brutal Swing when they came up. Basically mad number key mashing and dancing through and around the crowd of mobs and springing class abilities absolutely as fast as I could, stopping only long enough for the cool down to get the Heavy Swing > Skull Sunder bonus (when it's got the flashing yellow outline). Put all your battle abilities in a line on your hotbar and when in doubt mash 'em all as fast as you can lol. I really think what's new in FFXIV is moving around for position in battle and I mean fast fast fast. But the skillchain (rotation HS > SS) is helpful and there are additional abilities to chain in a rotation, which is what I was looking for when i saw your post.

You have to target the closest wolf to you, then turn your body (and camera) such that when you hit Overpower, it will hit 90 to 100% of the wolves. Once they are all on you, focus on killing one at a time, using Overpower between combos. I used heavy swing, combo'd to either skull smasher or maim. I would do that combo twice then hit Overpower ... again, every time I hit overpower, I would make sure I turned my body (thus turning the camera) so that overpower would hit all the targets. This was a really simple fight. I just treated it like a 4 man and didn't want anyone behind me to get hit so I made sure nothing slipped past me. Then just focused my damage one by one to kill them slowly. I used the defense boost intermittently with the Parry Up from lancer, the Evasion Up and the Instant Health from Pug. That with Bloodbath and they really didn't have me past 50% health at any point in time. Good Luck.
