I've been waiting for this game forever. It is supposed to be "the best". I've been on the mailing list for 'updates' since last fall and have heard nothing new. It's been a looooong quiet time in coming.

'sigh'

I watched that a few days ago. Does indeed look very cool.

At first I was a bit confused about the 1-player vs. multiplayer aspects of it, but then I figured it out.

The game is 1-player, but you are connected to a server with thousands/millions of other players. When you reach an area where another player has a civilization, it copies theirs entirely, and downloads it to your computer, whereupon the computer ai takes over control.

So you don't have to worry about getting griefed by anonymous internet jerks, and you don't have the stale, repetitive opponents that a typical game provides because new content is constantly being uploaded by players themselves.

Basically the developers are admitting and embracing the fact that what 1 million gamers can create will be more diverse and exciting than what a 20-man developer team can.

I saw that video the other day and it looked like the perfect game. From what I saw on the video it looks very exciting. Definitely on my wishlist.

Wow. And I thought I was a nerd.

It does look cool. Do you think the guy could say "procedurally generated" a few more times though?

I think the only problem I would have with this game is that I would never make it past character creation. I would be constantly building and rebuilding, attempting to out do Tim Burton >.>

I can't wait for religous groups to call this game blasphemy and protest it's release as vicious evolutionary lies.

Yes, but would it be procedurally generated?

Just wait until people find a way to put penises on everything in the game. You'll be sorry the "multiplayer" aspect is even there.

It'll be cool until then, though.

I suspect it will probably not require that much oomph.

Pshhh, if it's procedurally generated, it isn't going to require THAT much power. /rolleyes

Ok, maybe a little more processer power, but nothing a modern pc can't fix.

As far as I understand as well because of it being proceduraly generated it doesn't hog up hard drive space which is a bonus for me.
