Jesus. You're right of course and my haiku attempt was an utter failure per syllables. I apologize to haiku fans and my own ego. But I did try to do a haiku. Not my fault I suck at such and/or so drunk I am inable to count syllables on at just the very least, my own fingers. What am I now, just a dead cinder in the fire I wanted to be.

So...I don't particularly like champagne but surely champagne should be broken by Erdogan or anyone else who loves that Obama has not, and will not keep his promise to acknowledge this Genocide. Congrats. And obviously Clinton will win and didn't even make that promise, so...maybe in 10,000 years a US President will actually call it what it is, if at least at that point Turkey is no longer a state or is suddenly controlled by ISIS so the US could newly savage them with not acknowledging such, in our favor.

"look forward not backwards", etc. Can someone calculate how many criminals the Obama Admin has prosecuted due to crimes of torture, bank fraud (American defendants), or genocide? Or even acknowledged any of them as criminals? I mean, he did say "we tortured some folks". Seems a kind of admission that should put at least one prior President before the Hague. Torture is a crime according to many international laws, some of which are US Constitutionally binding*.

Torturers charged: 0?
American citizen Bank Fraudsters charged: 0?

Whistleblowers charged: 7, I think

People who committed the crimes the whistleblowers whistleblew on: 0?

Marijuana users charged during his Admin: 2,000,000+

Article VI, my bolds:

*
Quote:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land

The US is a signatory of the Geneva Conventions. Which renders torture a crime, obviously**. And thus by the VI and GC Conventions we've treatied/signed-on, as the supreme law of the land, should require a criminal charge against whoever Obama was referring to with "we tortured some folks"". Whoever "we" is should not just appear as defendant before the Hague or ICC, but even domestically, since our Constitution forces us to follow treaties we enter, including the Geneva Conventions. "Look forward" is countermanded by the automatic necessary obligation to adhere to our treaties and Constitution.

https://www.icrc.org/eng/resources/documents/faq/torture-law-2011-06-24.htm

Quote:
The Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 8 June 1977 contain a number of provisions that absolutely prohibit torture and other cruel or inhuman treatment and outrages upon individual dignity.

For example, torture is prohibited by Article 3 common to the four Geneva Conventions, Article 12 of the First and Second Conventions, Articles 17 and 87 of the Third Convention, Article 32 of the Fourth Convention, Article 75 (2 a & e) of Additional Protocol I and Article 4 (2 a & h) of Additional Protocol II. In international armed conflict, torture constitutes a grave breach under Articles 50, 51, 130 and 147 respectively of these Conventions. Under Article 85 of Additional Protocol I, these breaches constitute war crimes. In non-international armed conflict, they are considered serious violations.

In addition, Article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions, Article 75 (2 b & e) of Additional Protocol I and Article 4 (2 a & h) of Additional Protocol II prohibit "outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment". In international armed conflict, these acts constitute grave breaches. In non-international armed conflict, they constitute serious violations.

So...drink up your bubbly water (champagne sucks) and congratulate the US for admitting breach of its Constitution and Geneva Conventions duty obligations yet not doing jack shit about either. Beholden to no one or any law, even our Constitution.

I'm going to provide the same response I've made in the past. Out of the list of things that Obama has done as president which I disagree with, failing to officially recognize a genocidal act by a previous government that ruled the region currently occupied by the Republic of Turkey (and other surrounding regions as well) is very low on my list. I'd even go further and point out that it seems almost like cherry picking to decide to go after this one mass ethnic killing, but not a host of others that were perpetrated by other nations during and around the same time period in the region (go look up the Balkan Wars if you want a good starting point). They're all horrific things that happened in the past, but it seems bizarre to go after Turkey because it happens to sit in the same geographical location (and share a similar name) as the state which committed this act, but not say Bosnia, or Romania, or Bulgaria, or any of the other modern states that sit in the same locations and are largely occupied by the descendents of the same people who committed similar acts in the past.

It does seem to be motivated more by modern political side taking than any specific care about the cause and responsibility for a bunch of deaths which occurred over a century ago. So yeah, as much as I don't like a lot of things Obama has done, I'm going to give him a pass on deliberately going out of his way to **** off an important ally in the region over something like this. We could endlessly demand that current nations publicly acknowledge and take responsibility for some horrible act or other committed at some point in the past. I'm just not sure how much value there is in it though.

It's funny how often the other 99% also results in you backpedaling to a vague statement about "the other 99%". You never can quite seem to make a case for the actual post right in front of you though. Interesting pattern.

Why do you claim things happen "often", but never "this time"? It's funny, but every time I challenge you on this, you acknowledge that I'm right "this time", but then immediately pivot to a claim of how I'm supposedly wrong all the other times. But it's always "all the other times", isn't it? Even in each of those other times, it's "the other times".

You're at least consistent about it.

Absolutely pathetic. Forget Putin. Erdogan is apparently the real puppet-master.

Oh and ""And obviously Clinton will win" said by my stupid ***. I was too stupid to recognize that she'd continue to suck and that OH MY ******* GOD Donna Brazile would be involved. Double-down on establishment failure much?

Hopefully in his last days Obama will spend less time deporting the most people ever, selling the most arms to the most despotic ME country Saudi Arabia, and maybe issue a last-day executive order that "duh, the Armenian Genocide happened"
