Meteorologically speaking, the "final frost date" for the Chicago area is May 15. But people around here always seem shocked when it drops into the 30s/40's in mid April. Go figure.

The STL area has not had a real winter in a few years. This year has been an up and down. Not sure why everyone wants hot weather so soon. Farmers have been on the news and in papers complaining about how it has snowed and rained to much...yet last year there was a drought and most of the area's ponds/lakes/water table is still below average.

I'd like to post pictures on here but don't know how.

1. Go to your name in upper right and click "images" in the drop-down menu.
2. Click "Add Image"
3. Click "browse"
4. Resize image
5. Hit "Commit Upload"
6. Click on image and copy the [img=xxxxx}
7. Copy-paste the [img=xxxxx} to your post

All this assumes you saved the image in an easy (for you) to find location, like, I dunno, a folder on the desktop AND I think you need to be premium.

Heck I grew up in south texas....Tn is borderline to cold for me. I remember loving playing ball at flour bluff during the middle of the summer in those gyms that didn't have ac. It was awesome.

Northerners aren't hateful, we just have no use for fragile, delicate Southern flowers. If you can't cope with some weather, you really can't be that competent.

One year I was running cross country in high school was a study in extremes. The first meet, in August, it was 99 degrees with 98% humidity. Kids were throwing up and passing out left and right. The last meet, early November, was 30 and raining with two inches of snow on the ground. We wore the same skimpy 70s era track outfits - no sleeves or leggings! - for both meets, and all in between.

In Southern Illinois, it got near zero for a few days around Christmas. Apparently people were locking themselves out of their house, and freezing to death.

Those are the losers who go away to Florida for college and never come back. None of them were running for *my* school!

That's why we let the weather kill them and strengthen the herd. Or, um, flower bed as it were.
