Yeah. I've been seeing a lot of misogyny stuff on Tumblr lately... more than usual at least. It's something that's been on my mind for a while and haven't had an excuse to really say anything up until now.

It's kind of aggravating how they're always talking about these "dude bros" who are always bringing them down about their looks or the things they do-- no matter how they look or what they do, when the examples they use are things I've never seen a straight man do... ever. In fact, the examples they use, other than guys hitting on them and making them feel self-conscious, are things I tend to see other women perpetuating on one another, or themselves.

While I agree that there is a fair bit of misogamy out there, you will never see a blog or a cute little comic strip about things that are acceptable for women but not men, or male stereotypes, or the standards that men have to live up to in order to be deemed worthy by some imaginary status quo.

Whenever there is a movie or a show or a video game that depicts a woman in a negative light, you will hear all about how terrible and misogynistic it is-- even though some, if not all of the men in said show/movie/video game are portrayed in an equally negative light.

Right now there is a meme going around on the internet depicting the Kool-Aid man, or some other brutish figure bursting through a brick wall, with a speech bubble that says "Not all men!" that represents how annoying it is when men butt into conversations about how we're all pigs and women haters. Now we have this sad little mouth breather who murdered a bunch of people out of hatred of women... and it's just fuel for the fire.

No? You never hear men ******** about, for example, custody, or the loss of men's rights? Good for you, I guess, for avoiding those sites like the plague.

Neither can people from Tennessee if you're any indication.

This is the state that passed a law banning Sharia. It had to be later amended. This is also the state that passed a bill that literally imposed a $500 fine on any teacher who referenced any sexual activity as pleasurable. Including kissing, and presumably, hand holding. It had to be later amended. This is the state that passed a bill in 2012 allowing evolution and climate change to be taught as "controversial" in public schools with equal weight given to "other theories" It should be noted that this is the state where the Scopes trial took place. I could go on basically infinitely. While I'm sure many of the citizens are lovely, the legislature has been made up of simpleton ******* rubes for about 100 years now.

I stayed in Kentucky for half a year (last quarter of last year and first of this year). It was surprisingly different than here (Michigan). I felt almost as out of place as when I go to Mexico, or ever my short trip to Italy.

Are you fucking high? That's idiotic. You may as well say "You'll never see white people complain about discrimination based on race"

I just cringe. There are things I miss about Tennessee, but the carefully fostered ignorance is not one of them.

I suppose if I really went digging for them I could find some. The thing is, I don't have to dig to find this sort of thing on a regular basis.

I've heard guys complain about custody issues before-- their own, pertaining to them as an individual, and not a conspiracy against men as a whole.

Yeah, I'm sure you'll find white people complain about discrimination if you try really, really hard. I really can't believe you are making that comparison.

Any varus post. Probably at least a quarter of gbaji posts. Profession victims. My favorite hissyfits are the race changes going on in comics. The new one is they're changing the Huntress from North Italian to South Italian. Apparntly dark tans don't count as white people anymore, so now I guess I'm a minority.

Because Varus and gbaji represent your normal, average person, and the majority of white people.

Look. All I'm saying is, there are always people crying about being perceived as some victim or abused minority. If in some remote instance a man, or a white person does this, it doesn't magically make it "ok" when other groups do it.

I feel like I am constantly having to deal with people who think they should be immune to criticisms or are entitled to special treatment. On the internet especially, where I can't tell if someone is black/white/asian/gay/straight/male/female what have you.

It is more than a little annoying when people are constantly belittling themselves and the groups they represent out of pure self-pity. They do nothing but damage the cause of real social activism-- against instances where said groups are actually being abused and victimized.

What the fuck is your thesis here? Can you boil it down to something beyond "well, SURE if you try hard enough you can find monkey diaper fisting ****!" What are you trying to say? That women ***** about men more than men ***** about women? You're wrong. The word "friendzone" alone has created waves upon waves of idiotic ********* Most guys aren't alpha males, and what they do instead of banging hot women is whine. And whine, and whine, ******* incessantly.

I've heard.

Considering half of his fatal victims were stabbed to death, I'm not sure gun control is the real issue here either. Mental health might be a good topic to relate, but in this case, I think it's silly to try to make this guy poster child for whatever cultural movement someone wants to use him for. In this case, I really think it's time to call this guy just crazy and/or evil. He was going to kill someone. If it wasn't women, it would've been men(and really, it kinda was already). Or children.

The difference between whining and real social activism is determined by the receiver of the information. If it's something you do't want to hear, or isn't a problem for you, you're more likely to view the information as whining. Likewise the other way around.

If you're willing to just chalk this up to some crazy fella, then you have to admit that our gun regulations are not working. He was nuts. That was documented, yet he was never committed and therefore hes found quite suitable for purchasing and owning guns. He'd bought three -legally.

Definitely not. It's never the real issue. It's never an issue. Let's all continue to play pretend that it's just as easy to kill people with other weapons. Because, you know, it isn't, at all.

Somewhere in the world, there are women begin abducted from their homes and sold as sex slaves in a massive global market. Meanwhile, the United States continues to debate whether or not it should legislate women's reproductive rights in almost every way imaginable.

It is a bit disheartening when people compare these things with something like being called fat by their friend's boyfriend, then come up with twenty pages about how said boyfriend is secretly and subconsciously trying to exert his male superiority over them at every turn.

That's a ridiculous comparison.

Women's issues in the US are not so grievous or obvious as you might find in third world countries. Does that make them non-existent?

If you're willing to brush off more modest attempts at feminism by simply declaring women have it worse elsewhere, is that a problem?
