By "no one anywhere" do you mean "no one who isn't a member of a national guard, police, or military"? Cause that appears to be what Smash wants.

Nope, Smash wants states rights. If the workers paradise of the 'chussetts wants to ban handguns, they should be able to. If Kentucky wants to allow people to have mustard gas and gatling guns, great. I didn't realize you were so strongly against states rights. Good to know, I guess.

Why do you assume I really care about what Smash wants?

I assume you look to me for all of your opinions and life decisions. Don't you remember when you and Flea flew to Boston and we had that long talk about you having another child? I got an anchor tattoo in honor of your machu picchu campesino.

Imo, the second amendment is contradictory to governing in general, but the notion that owning a gun, owning any specific object for that matter is an inherent right of every citizen is a ridiculous interpretation of a constitutional amendment.

Lol, a tyrannical government could care less about the 2nd amendment and will happily take your gun, your free speech and your stupid dog if they it serves their purpose.

No amount of denial will change the fact that a government giving you explicit rights to oppose it through illegal means is about as antipodal as it gets.

Haven't followed the debate much, because to us he was just another crazy American with guns. The misogyny story has not reached us, and I honestly don't know why it always ends up there, anyway. He might have been a misogynist, but maybe he was just batsh*t crazy. Nothing I've read has indicated that he was especially hateful of women.

Not sure how chubby posteriors entered the picture, but carry on.

I think there is mileage in a line of smiley face stickers with the phrase "I was not actively raped and killed today".

Maybe, actually. The problem now is that the "weapons" being wielded against the "tyrannical government" may as well be room temperature ramen. They're about as effective. If the "tyrannical government" feels like killing you, and it can find you, you'll be dead regardless of how many rounds of 7.62 you stockpiled. In seconds.

So unless you are actually seriously advocating for a repeal of the 2nd amendment

I'm advocating repeal of the 2nd amendment (I'm not sure why you added all those other words). Everything we know about the 2nd indicates that isn't remotely function the way it was intended. One of two things would be required for it to. Either 1. We interpret the "militia" bit to mean state National Guards, and conclude there is no individual right to bear arms beyond that. OR 2. We see the intent of the amendment as a check against the power of the government and allow individuals access to any weapon. I fimrly believe it was intended as 1, but whatever. Some of Jefferson's writings indicate it may have been 2, but it's hard to really get a feel for the mind of a guy taking time away from his teenager raping to philosophize.

While it may have been the case in 1800 that everyone having a musket was a check against government overreach, the modern reality in the US is quite, quite, different. The flying killer robots don't give a @#%^ that you have a circa 1947 designed assault rifle, have no fear on this front. If you want the people to have their own flying killer robots, I'd disagree, but see the logic. That you want the people to have weapons just dangerous enough to kill random people but not useful enough to be a check against tyranny indicates that you don't give a @#%^ about the 2nd amendment, you just want people to have access to guns because....I have no idea, actually. You don't own one, right? I guess because someone told you that was what you wanted.

I have a flying killer death robot and it a joy to behold. One caveat though, most light flying death robots are much better at killing people than severely damaging the heavier assets which lend power to the state. Really, all light arms aren't effective as a check against tyranny, but they are a means to buy time with bodies until you can scrounge up some heavier weaponry. A rifle isn't really a threat to the state but 100 million are.
