I know she's instigated confrontations before and used the results as "evidence" of her claims about just how badly women are treated in the industry. I know that she's taken and used other people's material without permission nor credit for those videos you mentioned. I note that she's made a pretty common reaction from the community and turned it into a huge gender issue. So I think I've got at least a rudimentary grasp of her personality. However, I've yet to see any reason to believe her claims other than her lack of dangly bits.

Well there. I think you've answered the question about what gamer's gate is all about; Threats, claims, counter-claims, lies, deceit, love-lost and hate found.

Keep running with it. I'm sure your half-baked theory about a person you know from you tube will have a really positive impact on sexism in gaming.

Ethics in journalism, whether writing about games or canning recipes is a topic worthy of discussion especially in lieu of the world of the world wide internet. Gamer's gate isn't now, nor has it ever been that.

As you can see, the second you bring up any doubt there's a mindless defense based purely on her lack of twig and berries and not facts. Smiley: smile

That's true.

The second problem was that the media types and activists who depend on recreational outrage to pay their bills took a handful of retards and rapidly turned it into a sweeping statement on "gamers" as a whole in order to make it into an "issue". Then responded to the legitimate "WTF?" response from people being painted with that brush with "She had DEATH THREATS, are you for with us or are you a misogynistic murder-rape women hater??"

The mindless defense as you've called my response is merely your lack of any credible offense. Smiley: smile

You keep accusing her of lying. I don't buy it. I think I'd not buy it if she was a he.

You don't have to buy it, just keep being misogynistic and people like Anita will continue to get free passes.

If those articles hadn't happened, this thread woulda died a long time ago. Before those articles, this wasn't Gamergate. It was the multiple nearly simultaneous articles that made this more than a footnote. Zoe would have been more or less forgotten and we'd just remember that Anita said she got more death threats. Now, this will go on for a while.

I bought a copy of Alien: Isolation from Gamersgate and it was a RU/CIS version that I had to activate with a VPN. Granted, I bought it via a Russian proxy server but I'm going to blame Poldaran and Elinda for it. Gamersgate is their fault.

All things considering, I'm amazed people even gave Alien: Isolation a second look after Colonial Marines.

Gossip links about more censorship? Yeah. Sure. Guilty. It was part of the ongoing fight. Notice it wasn't gossip about women, though? Or does that not fit your narrative?

My narrative???

+1 Smiley: yippee

First off, I was only interested in making snarky comments about gossipy crapola. Then it became so obvious that a couple of you (of which I will not name names) appear to have such a tremendously 'mind-numbing' hard-on for Anita S, I had to run with it.

Sue me. Better yet, threaten me.

As well they should. Assuming you like its horror genre (as opposed to bug hunts), it's a pretty slick game. And beautifully optimized for the PC.

You'd just pretend this request never happened and use what was offered as evidence of your persecution, then ask for money to further your fight.

Would fifty bucks be too much to ask for?

Alien Isolation is AWESOME, provided you don't mind dying over & over & over again. I'm not super far into in (currently in the middle of 8 straight shifts, 7 of which are 8a - 8p), but there was one level where you set off an alarm & have to get to a certain point while the Alien hunts you while humans hunt you at the same time. I probably died a dozen times.

Alien in the vent.
Alien walked out of a door I was sneaking by.
Alien turned around while I was sneaking behind it as it killed the other humans.
Alien in a different vent.
Alien pulled me out from under a table.
Alien came out of ******* nowhere and stabbed me through the heart with its tail.
Shot by humans.
Died in a fire.

etc.

The tension, lighting, sound, & the world of Alien are all fantastic though. Reminds me a bit of the first Bioshock, but scarier.

I like this synopsis of Gamergate:

article wrote:
By design, Gamergate is nearly impossible to define. It refers, variously, to a set of incomprehensible Benghazi-type conspiracy theories about game developers and journalists; to a fairly broad group of gamers concerned with corruption in gaming journalism; to a somewhat narrower group of gamers who believe women should be punished for having sex; and, finally, to a small group of gamers conducting organized campaigns of stalking and harassment against women.

This ambiguity is useful, because it turns any discussion of this subject into a debate over semantics. Really, though, Gamergate is exactly what it appears to be: a relatively small and very loud group of video game enthusiasts who claim that their goal is to audit ethics in the gaming-industrial complex and who are instead defined by the campaigns of criminal harassment that some of them have carried out against several women. (Whether the broader Gamergate movement is a willing or inadvertent semi-respectable front here is an interesting but ultimately irrelevant question.)

Linky.

It leaves out that Gamergate* is also now a counter-push against a media frenzy to label "gamers" as dead. Even if you don't have care much about "journalism ethics", it's perfectly reasonable to press back against SJW demands that you stop using "fun" as the primary metric of games over "socially responsible" or else you're a dirty misogynist defending rape threats. You know, most people just want to play video games.
