Also, I don't think depression quest got famous because she's a female. I think it's because she said Wizardchan was picking on her and people she knew in the industry rushed to her aid. There are also the connections to that PR firm that seems to have connections to everything.

That's deeper down the ole gaming industry rabbit hole than I know or am willing to know about.
Probably for the best. You'd probably find five other guys when you got to the bottom anyway.

Naw, it's totally a pro-social experience.

Seriously though, why the **** does he think people play games in the first place? Smiley: glare

I suppose you could defend it in a strawman sort of way: Not every game needs to be a Saint's Row style boom fest of bullets of rag doll physics. But I think it definitely has to be entertaining be it via story or mechanics or characters or something. I'm playing games for recreation, not for "healing" or "enlightenment". If it fails to entertain me in some fashion, it's failed as a game.

So, has this thread made any new feminists?

I thought I knew my mind about feminism. But now it's as cloudy as the right to recline ones airplane seat.

I made this quiz to help me decide. I got the info from this article (timely).

1. Do American women still need feminism? Yes or No
2. Do you think the pay gap is real (yes) or is it simply due to a 'woman lifestyle choice (no)? Yes or No
3. Should rape statistics mix alcohol-fueled, judgment-impaired sex with legitimate rape? Yes or No
4. Do you disagree that feminism is a form of misandry (male hating). Yes or No

If you answered YES to 2 or more of these questions I declare you to be a feminist.

I answered 'yes' to all, but I'm biased as I wrote the questions so that I'd answer yes to them. If you want to add more questions feel free.

I'm okay with feminism, but the current face and voice of it is most definitely misogyny.

I couldn't answer any one of those with a yes or no except #2.
1)Some issues western women face still need advocacy. However, coming at them from a gendered approach may not be the best way to do it as it fosters an "us vs. them" mentality.
2)No. At least not the bulk of it. I'd be willing to suspect a 2-3% difference as feasible.
3)My answer to this is too long and nuanced to write while my food is sitting in the kitchen getting cold. Short answer: Not really. But kinda. Maybe.
4)Not all feminists, but many.

The SBA coin was a victim of the male ego. It had to be smaller than the Kennedy 1/2 dollar causing the whole quarter confusion debacle.

The soup-can lid sized Eisenhower dollar was no crowd pleaser, either.

(8) When I say "Zoe Quinn", who do you think of first: Rosa Parks or Joan of Arc?

I don't think she'd give up her seat on a city bus, but I also don't think she'd charge into battle without her cute clothes on.

I think she'd sleep with the bus driver, and then scream sexism the next day when she got on the bus and no one gave their seat to her.

Huh? The vending machines could distinguish between it and a quarter. It was humankind that had trouble.

But don't tell the know-it-alls that!
