I had this nutty idea years ago that minimum wage should be tagged to cost of living increases like Social Security, etc.
I mentioned this to some folks at work recently (people who are largely GOP, btw) and their response was basically "Yeah, they should have. But making an adjustment now would be bad for the economy because inflation".

I say we take a page from the Amish and shun them. Quit rewarding the people with that kind of behavior and excusing them with a "boys will be boys" style response.

I've been thinking about this subject a lot lately:
This video could not have come at a better time (except for maybe 50 years ago.) This is not just about drugs-- this is about rethinking the way we handle people in every aspect of life. We have to change the way we think about the justice system, schools, and especially the way we handle work and social/living space.
More so, we need to completely reevaluate the way we collectively perceive sexuality in all forms, particularly in America where we seemed to have inherited a sort of strict Puritan ideology which I believe to be the root of the majority of our country's behavioral problems.
Having read the article Samira posted a few weeks ago, I personally believe the place to begin is in our way of compulsory education. It NEEDS to be completely redone. This should be our number one priority as a species.

I've been getting together with some old friends for D&D a lot lately on Friday nights. I suppose it's kind of like that. Our group keeps getting larger as we invite more people and our wives become interested and join the fray. It started with just me and two other guys, now we're up to about eight people who come pretty consistently every week including the DM.
It's only for a few hours a week though. I often wonder what it would be like to live in a small town where everybody knows everybody. Perhaps there could be a town square type of place where everyone gets together for special occasions and holidays. Everyone would have a specific role in the community-- something they did best and enjoyed doing instead of whatever they could find. It could be kind of like

When you have unlimited ammo and flawless marksmanship, sure, but think about how they're able to just peel the skin off of people like they're bananas. That still feels pretty threatening to me despite all the perfect crossbow headshots on skulls with the consistency of Reese's peanut butter cups. That's a bit heavy on the food analogies. I must be getting hungry.
