Mitt Romney told supporters Friday that he's decided to skip a 2016 presidential race, putting an end to weeks of serious consideration about a third try for the White House.

Oh well. We can still make fun of him for the dog thing, right?

"He decided" he says. Like there was any question he was just a sacrificial lamb last election.

His niche (establishment business savvy quasi-moderate) was already being taken up by Jeb Bush, who was also getting a number of Romney's financial supporters and previous staff members. No room for two of the same brand.

yeah but Jeb's primary hang to the right might not look quite as artificial.

His swing back to the center after the primaries will, though.

What about dog hating mormons who were governor of the most liberal state? How is Jeb doing with THAT niche!

oK, I need someone to please explain to me how Romney was right about Russia. I've been hearing this from both political sides and I just want to know what I'm missing.

Yes, Russia busted a move, but hasn't Russia always been seen as a Frenemy, like China? Furthermore, wasn't his full analysis that we need to arm our military to be able to physically fight Russia and later mocked President Obama on his sanction approach? Russia has been subdued and no one is talking about them, all of the emphasis is on ISIS.

@ Alma

Russia being "subdued" has a lot more to with falling oil prices than anything Obama has done (or anything Romney WOULD have done).

Sure, Obama & the EU's sanctions hurt, but not a ton more than the benefit they got with their land grab.

Russia's bigger concern is it's most abundant natural resource isn't worth much at the moment.

I wonder what was going on with Mitt when he announced he's be running. Did he just forget to check with Daddy GOP first?

Weird.

Visions of money and national celebrity dancing through his head, probably.

Just to clarify, Smasharoo was saying that the USA is responsible for the low price of oil (by leaning on SA which then leans on OPEC) in addition to sanctioning Russia directly. Your reply doesn't really engage with his point because all it does is reiterate your earlier juxtaposition of these two issues.

I may have been quite drunk due to the superbowl at the moment of my last post.

I apologize for my stupidity, but it was totally worth it.

Just to clarify,
Thanks, I was lost.

I had thought Saudi was keeping the prices low to keep their market share.

I see where it would benefit Barry to not only have some leverage in negotiations with Iran, but also to shore up his Keystone veto.

Loss of domestic production and incentive to reduce emission standards seems like a lot to give up though.
