First the Black Panthers and now a 69 year old white guy? How does anyone get to vote in this country?

But why is that? Because the South is more diverse. The only groups that he won was white men and young voters (who don't turn out). He needs to win more demographics to be competitive.

Which is ironic, considering that Clinton is only beating him in states that vote staunchly Republican in general elections. If the Democrats want to win in the general election, all signs point to Hillary being a sinking ship.

I skipped this. I was wondering what Jophiel was talking about.

See post #371.

In addition to post #371, that logic is completely backwards. You don't win by gathering the same voters, you win by getting new voters.

Not really. The US Pres electoral system is fairly convoluted in that a state's voters are nearly worthless unless they are "flippable", which means that getting new voters only matters sometime, and losing some voters is ok.

It really is. The EC is not that complicated. There's a reason why candidates focus on swing states. It's a waste of resources to stump in states that historically vote your party. Maybe I should clarify "new voters", as new demographics.

Romney calls Trump a phony, Trump calls Romney a failed candidate, and then the school bell rang signaling lunch was over and they had to run to their next classes.

Trump released the details of his health care proposal ("Get rid of the lines!") and one thing it includes is creation of health-savings accounts that can accrue indefinitely, tax free, and are then exempt from estate taxes.

Using health care reform to create a new means of multi-generational tax shelters is innovative, at least.

There are apparently videos. Someone on Twitter linked one last night(or was it night before last?). All I saw was Bill talking, but he said that's what it was. Also had a video where a bunch of people in Clinton shirts got to go vote without going to the sign in table. Again, I dunno.

Well, the last ditch, desperate, Hail Mary effort from the GOP now is to split the delegates enough to force a contested convention and deny Trump (who'll almost certainly still have a plurality) the nomination. The establishment trotted out Romney today to beg voters to vote for whoever was the strongest 2nd place poll-runner in each state be it Cruz, Rubio or Kasich just to try and stop Trump from winning.

Given that denying Trump in this manner will almost certainly lead to the defection of ~a third of the primary voters who just saw the GOP rob their candidate of his nomination (and who knows how many will come back), they're willing to just handing the presidency over to Clinton rather than see Trump on the general election ballot.

1. Three strikes did not tell local police to unfairly target minorities. Also, Senator Sanders supported the same bill.

2. Whether or not foreign trade is "good" is a matter of opinion. Don't forget that President Obama (A black man) supports TPP. Sen. Sanders is not against trade because how it affects minorities, but his belief on how it affects everyone. That's his problem, his solutions to specific black problems are overarching economic solutions.

Ending the war on drugs will have a vastly bigger effect on the minority community than anything Hillary Clinton has promoted in her career.

You're not getting the point, which is not surprising. The war on drugs is not the problem, the specific targeting of black neighborhoods is. You're demonstrating an exact reason for his poor support.

Well, it's unrealistic to think a government program is going to solve a problem like racism. Just like a government program hasn't been able to solve a problem like drugs or terrorism. For that matter, Hillary is so status-quo on the subject of criminal justice reform that the worlds 'privatized jails' never come from her mouth. They happen to be big donors of hers and as long as people will buy the marketing rather than the policy, you're going to continue to endure the evils of the status quo.

If you want talk, hey, Hillary is your person. If you want results, you need to turn to Bernie.

Black neighborhoods are targeted for crime prevention because that's where a disproportionate amount of the crime occurs, largely due to ridiculously high levels of poverty for blacks.

So it's really you that's not getting the point. Which is not surprising since you don't believe in statistics.

What's unrealistic is to think the congress will accept and pass a single payer health system and free college tuition when they shut the government down over the ACA (a conservative idea by the GOP nominee) and is against universal pre-k.

You STILL don't get it...Smiley: oyvey The point isn't to "end racism", but to address it in policy. You can't expect a group of people to follow you when your racial injustice points is an afterthought of your overall message.

Hillary will:

End the era of mass incarceration, reform mandatory minimum sentences, and end private prisons.

Encourage the use of smart strategies—like police body cameras—and end racial profiling to rebuild trust between law enforcement and communities.

Help formerly incarcerated individuals successfully re-enter society.

“I will never stop working on issues of equality and opportunity, race, and justice. That is a promise. I’ve done it my entire adult life. I will always be in your corner.”

Weren't you the fan of statistics? Well, statistics show that white people use drugs at the same rate as blacks and are more likely to be stopped for the same crime with longer sentences. Oh.. I guess, you choose not to believe those statistics. Funny how that works.

Demea wrote:

Keep telling yourself that nonsense. It's blatantly obvious that when minorities are on the wrong side of the law, they are seen as criminals, but whites are commonly seen as needing help. Let someone with Muslim faith shoot up a place and he is a terrorist. Let a white person shoot up a Planned Parent Hood/ church/ school and he is mentally ill.

When drugs were in the black community, the reaction was discipline. When drugs start killing off the white population, all of the sudden, we need to provide them help. Coincidence? Maybe, but the outcome isn't. Even when blacks weren't the ones using the drugs, they are blamed for white people using drugs.

You have demonstrated an overall lack of understanding of the entire situation, let alone the point. HA!
