Help me, =4, you're my only hope.

My wife things I dreamt it..
So far I have ruled out: Tales from the Crypt (and Darkside), Perversions of Science, Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, They Live, Futurama.... I'm stuck and my OCD will not allow me to continue with my life until I figure this out...

Here it is:

Aliens or Time-Travelers are on a mission to make a particular Pop musician (or just his particular song) popular. They need this song to "catch on" because the lyrics of this song were designed/engineered by these aliens or time-travelers to subconsciously register in peoples minds as (something like) "Stop Nuclear Weapons" whereas the actual lyrics are something inanely dull like "Time to go to the Party!"
I believe that in the show/movie that they explain how even if people hate the song and the music that the memory of the sounds from the lyrics will get stuck in your head as "Stop Nuclear Weapons". The result is that the population is manipulated into thinking that they must stop nukes and thus it saves the world.

It certainly sounds like a satirical Cold-War plot but I'm pretty sure this was in the last few years... because if I am recalling correctly.. during the End Credits they played the whole song from the show and I remember wonder if it was supposed to sound like Bieber or something.

Sound familiar to anyone?
(THERE (edit) is an Out Limits where someone from the future stops a singer from killing herself to save the world.. but that's not it.. And it's not Bill and Ted, either.. ;P)

The closest thing I can think of is an episode of Outer Limits where aliens were sending a signal to Earth and only kids were able to hear it as music, and it turned out that the song was evolving them to survive a change in the sun that would otherwise wipe out everyone.

That's funny. That exact episode was the first thing I thought cause I remember seeing that when it first aired and then looked it up to make sure I wasn't mis-remembering something else.

I was also wondering if I am mis-remembering a single scene where aliens or something are demonstrating the false lyrics to someone and they play back the lyric as it sounds to demonstrate for someone.... like I was thinking the end scene from They Live where they are showing them around the base... but I just read the movie script and that's not it either.... ARGH
