I'm going to guess that Clinton won't be president no matter how many roads are obstructed or not.

Conspiracy Twitter thinks that it's an attempt to get the EC delegates to change their votes and push through Hillary. So, yeah, you're probably right.

That might be barely plausible in some 269-269 scenario. This... uh... ain't that scenario.

I can't imagine how a theory from a source like Conspiracy Twitter could possibly be implausible.

First thought: there should be a Conspiracy Twitter for all those special people to migrate to.
Second thought: would there even be anyone left on twitter after they leave?
Third thought: well besides the bots of course.
Fourth thought: I might actually enjoy watching the remaining twitter bots argue with each other, at least for a little while.

As pictured here, though it's mostly just Tay-Senpai teaching the new SAO character how to be an internet denizen.

How about that twitter bot that went from optimist to anti-semite in like an hour?

We REALLY messed that poor bot up. It was pretty funny, though.

Message from the AP: When someone tries to kill a president, we're always there!

Quote:
A pool of reporters and photographers were in the motorcade when President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas.

The pool was just steps away from President Ronald Reagan when he was shot outside a hotel in the District of Columbia, and was stationed outside his hospital room as he recovered.

Look, no one is saying that the members of the AP are Vatican Assassin's. If you don't have proof that members of the AP are Vatican Assassin's, it is just reckless to make that statement. There is no proof that member of the AP are Vatican Assassin's, and I implore the AP to speak out against those that claim that members of the AP are Vatican Assassin's!

Members of the AP are Vatican Assassin's

One of the best things about this outcome is that completely crushes the conspiracy that the system was rigged and she was "chosen" years ago by a secret society. Furthermore, Trump is a distraction to make people think they were voting on their free will, but we don't realize this, because we're not "woke".

Double Blind Conspiracy: Trump made us think he was fighting the rigging of the election by the democrats, while the Illuminati were rigging it for the republicans! Open your eyes, the truth is out there!

you kinda can't be surprised if the result is fewer people saying they support him, even while actually planning to vote for him on election day.

Less people voted Trump than Romney, this loss is entirely on the DNC, and Hillary.

Fewer, not less. Sorry, but it's a peeve.

I see this as yet another false perception vs reality thing. The narrative we've been hearing over and over for the better part of this year has been how Trump is driving away voters, and GOP turnout will be horrific, the GOP is in disarray, etc, etc, but the numbers on election day show us that the Dems had a much harder time retaining voters. Clinton drove more voters away than Trump. Now, that's hardly a ringing endorsement of Trump, but he at least made up for losses in traditional GOP voters with some new folks (and looks like he pulled quite a few blue collar Dems as well), while Clinton just plain lost.

And yeah, to be fair, Obama was charismatic as hell, while Clinton was... well... not. So there's that. Trying to compare to Obama's numbers is somewhat unfair, but again, that's still part of the process.

It's a bit early to say for sure, but I do find it interesting that it looks as though it's actually the GOP that is transforming itself along broader and more populist lines (again, can't tell how that'll affect policy though), while the Dems are the ones chasing after a steadily shrinking minority. Could just be a hiccup in trend from this one very strange election cycle, but who knows.

As to how I voted, I'm not specifically going to state, but Joph pretty much has the right idea. In the end, how I voted didn't really matter, and I knew it from day one (and his vote didn't really matter either, so there's that). The bigger point is that how I personally feel about a candidate isn't necessarily reflected in how I think each candidate may do. So when I spoke about how I thought the polls were off in terms of Trump support, that was not wishful thinking on my part, but just a nagging suspicion based on what I was seeing going on in popular media, people I've spoken to, and even to some degree how the campaigns themselves were operating (Clinton's seemed to go into panic mode the last week of the election, which is never a good sign).

Um... Despite this, I was still pretty darn sure Clinton was going to win Tuesday morning. So yeah, quite a surprise watching the night unfold. Not at all what I thought would happen. I figured maybe Trump wouldn't lose as badly as people were projecting. Didn't think he'd win.

Which includes both of you, because neither of you understand why the EC came to exists or continues to exist. It is a product of compromise and tradition, not intent.

I had a competitive state senate seat to vote for which, given how the federal side went, is of even more outsized importance. So there's that.

I had all uncontested seats, barring one very local one where I voted republican due to the other guy literally being the village idiot. ( randomly playing in traffic with a trumpet, making up his own street signs and crosswalks and painting them in, etc.)

At least ballot props passed.
