Early releases. Smiley: mad Smiley: motz Gonna throw the rest of my week off.

Naruto: I have to really question Sasuke. His love for his brother borders on incestuous, and he revives a pedophile. At first I wanted to say maybe mommy and daddy didn't hug him enough, but maybe they hugged him too much. Anyway, nothing really happened beyond that, and probably going to do the revive no jutsu on Sasuke's parents next chapter to no one's surprise.

Bleach: Oh. My. God. I know this is going to end but how damn long can you stretch this nothing happening crap. Smiley: mad

One Piece: Laughy McGas took the kids back against NamiSanji and Usopp, which is about as surprising as anything else that happened in the other two. I did like the alternative Pilot chapter.

Around the middle of May I think.

One Piece: Looks like two or three more of the rookies are going to arrive at the island in the next few chapters.

Fluffy Guard is at max power! Smiley: inlove

Lucy is really getting curb stomped in this tournament.

Edit: Oh, and yeah. This whole Orochimaru retcon is messy. Does it mean we can have multiple hims running around now? Would they all be full power? Are there other ones running around, like maybe Tobi? It's the very definition of face palm. I'd have been happy with Sasuke learning the seals from watching the fight between Itachi and Kabuto and doing it himself. Bah.

Well that happens when your only form of attack/defense are a bunch of easily stolen magic keys, and even when your have them your most powerful spirit is a spoiled *****. She really needs to learn how to cast "Ultima" quicker and more often, and learn at least a healing spell.

Naruto: Maybe each one of the snakes that form his "true" body contains a full copy of his powers and personality.

On the Naruto thing: Orochimaru was one of the single most resilient characters in the series. His abilities were mostly defensive, and he was kind of lacking in the offense department, I think. Recall the Naruto 4 tails vs Orochimaru fight, where Orochimaru pretty much had Naruto pinned down by a sword, couldn't hurt him, and pretty much said "Welp, that was my strongest attack, not much I can do now."

But his defensive abilities were unmatched. He came back time and again from pretty much mortal wounds, and even when he had two necrotic arms, no real body, and had his body-takeover stuff reversed on him, then was sealed away inside Sasuke's head, he still managed to come back. All that it really seemed to require was a chakra/consciousness and a body to manipulate.

Honestly, this doesn't seem like such of an asspull to me. To create the cursed seal, Orochimaru placed some of his chakra inside Anko. Same with Sasuke. I'm assuming that a part of your chakra is pretty much equivalent to a part of your consciousness (demonstrated with the ninetails, Naruto's parents, etc). Sasuke's seal was pretty much neutralized when Itachi "killed" the Orochimaru that was inhabiting Sasuke. So Sasuke doesn't have any Orochimaru left in him. But Anko still had a little piece of Orochimaru's chakra left in her. They grabbed a piece of Kabuto, whose body was being actively taken over by part of Orochimaru's body. So for all intents and purposes, Kabuto's body was pretty much Orochimaru's body. They used a piece of that combined with the piece of Orochimaru inhabiting Anko, which pretty much gave the chakra/consciousness a living piece of the original body to once again inhabit and mold. Bam, reborn Orochimaru.

tl;dr: Chakra has already been shown to be a piece of consciousness. Tiny piece of Orochimaru + a bit of living snake tissue to work with = regeneration. So I guess you could use this method to make Orochiclones. But I don't think Orochimaru would really do that. It's a little outside his character.

Meh, Bleach. It's cliffhanger after cliffhanger. I fear it's just about the only reason I keep reading it. Awell, off to next week.
Naruto was good, though. It made sense. I like that.

I find that Black Star feels exactly the same as young naruto did (pre time skip), except that he has all of his redeeming qualities, and almost none of the really bad ones. In other words, he doesn't read like a simpering crybaby. That said, I really need to catch up on Soul Eater. I'm waaaaaaaaaaay behind.

As for this week's jump:

Bleach: Like I said, Byakuya got his *** kicked (off screen), after having it explained to him that his opponent uses Fear as a weapon, not "specific fear" but "Primal, instinctive fear" that everyone has and that can't be easily resisted (unless you're a determinator and/or a designated shounen protagonist in a series with the appropriate atmosphere to pull it off (in other words, not bleach). Also Ichigo's flipping **** because urahara's call got disconnected and, according to either the manga itself, or the translators, even "Gekka Tenshou" couldn't break him out (I don't remember that attack, unless they were being lazy and shorthanding getsuga tenshou?)
Naruto: Kurama (The 9-Tails, not the Fabulous Red Headed friend of Yusuke Urameshi) swaps place with Naruto and exposits all over everyone, and we get the "HEY GUYS, NARUTO AND TOBI ARE FINALLY GONNA FIGHT.... NEXT WEEK!" message.
One Piece: On break this week, meaning Oda's probably coming up with something extra specially outrageous

Now, out of curiosity, how many other weekly manga are you guys following besides the big four (ie: one piece, naruto, bleach, and fairy tail, which is pretty much on their level at this point. Toriko is too, if you ask Japan, since apparently a lot of Japanese fans consider it to be the replacement for Bleach in the Big Three, but Westerners don't seem to agree)? It'd be nice to include something other than "Nothing Happened Again" "Kubo happened again" and "Oda did something else incredibly bizarre and funny again" in conversation between Fairy Tail releases.

My List: (In no particular order)
One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, then;
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (! is part of the title, and the manga is continuing to outshine the anime, which got cut short)
Toriko (which you guys should seriously try, even if it is all about food, it's so much awesome packed into one series)
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (I've enjoyed far more than I thought I would, because the author is seriously dedicated to accurately depicting the martial arts used)
Gamaran (excellently fills the single quasi-historical (read: I think edo period, but totally fictional) samurai drama I allow myself at any given time)
Denpa Kyoushi (fairly new, and I'm loving it)
Code: Breaker (feels weird but it's really quite enjoyable, and has roughly the same tone as bleach (in terms of how serious it takes itself) but has far more plot and substance to it)
Magi (Though it isn't so much a weekly release as it is a translation team desperately trying to catch up with it's up-to-date release, but is really quite fun to read)

and then a ************** of monthly release stories Smiley: glare

The shoujo monthlies I follow are:

- Skip Beat: Kyoko is in trouble because she gave some dude her cell phone number, and Ren saw her text back to him. Now Ren is pissed, and now he's also seen her hanging out with Shou again.
- Watashi ni XX Shinasai!: Yukino, everyone's favorite female Aspi, is dating both the guys, in the same day. in an attempt to see who she likes better. I swear, if I hadn't seen her cry, I'd assume she was a Vulcan.
- Gakuen Alice (which is so much darker than the fluffy Harry Potter-esque anime it's like a different series): It's the war of Alice academy. Last we saw, Persona turned against the elementary school principle and is going to kill the rogue clone to save Mikan. Luna put him in a coma by taking control of his soul. Natsumi is dying ; ;

The upside of the shoujo monthlies is that they tend to have more meat per chapter. The downside is that they only come out once a @#%^ing month. Smiley: motz

I read the Big Three because I've always been reading them primarily. Naruto occasional gets interesting, One Piece because I genuinely enjoy it, and Bleach because I seem to enjoy slamming a door on my ******. Fairy Tail and Soul Eater for the same reason as One Piece; I genuinely enjoy it. Soul Eater isn't as regular as the others though, so that kind of annoys me. A couple of "just starters" like Binbougami ga, Gwinsin Byeolgok (Which is manhwa or however you spell it. Girl sees dead people, has a demon living in her hair.) , and ... I think that's it. My major reading time is spent on comic books, though. I just started on the Incredible Hulk and let me tell you, comics fifty years ago somehow managed to drag on and on but at the same time where short stories, which completely drains me of any will to start new reading projects.

Other then the Big 3 I read :

TWGOK: Cuase I find it enjoyable, I just like seeing how everything is going to turn out, and I get a few laughs.
Sensei no Bulge: It Just started on and Is only about 9 chapters in. Its ok looks like it might be good.
Beelzebub: I like the comedy and cast.
Deadman Wonderland(monthly) On a forever break RIGHT AT THE END because the mangaka was having a baby or something.
HSotD: I really liked this series but I dont think its going to have anymore chapters, the mangaka was/has cancer and was very sick.

I stopped reading Soul Eater a while right after the arc where they beat the arachnid chick, I hate monthlys because they take too long and I forget about em, now that manga stream is doing the big 3 again there was a couple they were translating that I might pick up again.

My mind is a little frazzled today, but I forgot to add Hajime no Ippo and Girl of Wild's (another manwha) to my reading list. Both fighting/tournament based, GoW has reverse harem elements.

To make this post a little more legitimate, since I could have just edited my previous one, I'd like to see both Soul Eater and Flame of Recca completed like their respective mangas, and maybe even given the complete FMA: Brotherhood treatment.

I've been moving more from anime to manga recently, so I've got quite a few series I'm current on. The vast majority of anime are manga adaptions, and it's a struggle making the case for the anime when the manga is there.

-Berserk. I'm behind about a year, which is pretty much two chapters. I'm purposefully trying to gain some lag time because it'd kill anyone waiting on Miura.
-Claymore. I like dark fantasy.
-D. Gray-man. I was curious why a friend liked it a long time ago, then I'm stuck reading it. Fairly incomprehensible for such a straightforward shounen manga.
-Hajime no Ippo. I'm mostly just amazed how it can be running this long without being an episodic series.
-Hunter x Hunter. Best shounen is best shounen.
-Liar game.
-Shingeki no Kyojin. I like dark fantasy.
-Soul Eater. Lots of of style, and wish Maka would go insane more often.
-Zetman. Reconstruct that deconstruction.

I'm working on catching up to the current Jojo's Bizarre adventure. I'll be sad when I do. I was reading far more, but many of them recently completed (FMA, Eyeshield 21, Franken Fran, Kekkaishi, Xxxholic).

That's still active? I stopped reading about the time they all started getting magic weapons. I know, it's pretty early on, only shortly after the anime ends I believe... but I felt it was kind of getting (for the lack of a better word right now) stupid at that point.
