Took my almost-3-year-old to see Toy Story 3 on friday and it was awesome. A lot darker than the other 2 movies and very well done. It had me laughing from the first scene well throughout the rest of the movie. As always, good work Pixar!

What did you guys think?

my brother really enjoyed it, so I probably will too. Looking forward to seeing it some time this week or this weekend.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I wasn't able to go this weekend. I'm glad to hear it was well done, I'm more excited to see it now, thank you.

I felt that all the references to the old movies were well done and tasteful--the complete opposite of Shrek 4). I especially liked the movie closing with the same clouds the first began with.

I'll admit I came close to crying. It was very melodramatic. Mrs. Woobie cried like the whole time.

And rust my sockets? The scene near the end as they are falling into the pit furnace almost did it. While I knew that being a Disney movie they had to survive, the scene was enacted so well that I actually believed there was a possibility they'd just go down together, holding hands.

Yea, I wasn't entirely sure either when it came to that part. It made me think of Terminator 2 when Arnold had to be lowered into the molten steel, and the way it was building up made it really look it like it was going to happen, and I honestly could not imagine any way they could have gotten out of it, yet somehow they did.

My son is also almost 3, and finally went to his first movie with Dad recently and saw How to Train Your Dragon. You said this one was a lot darker than the previous installments, but did your kid enjoy it still? Just curious because I was hoping to go check this one out with my son.

He said he liked it, but he had a very serious look on his face throughout most of it. I was surprised he wasnt kinda scared at parts, but he was probably ok since the theater was packed with people. He was scared when he first saw the beginning of toy story 2. And i also think he was scared at several spots in How to train your dragon. Big pansy anyway.

He got a few laughs out of it too of course. Death by monkies was hilarious, and mr tortilla head had us all laughing real hard.

OK, thanks. It looks good and I was inclined to go see it with him, but since your son is the same age I thought I'd pick your brain as someone who already went. Pixar always seems to deliver.

Should be fun; I am just glad to be able to get out to the movie theater again, even if it is kid flicks. Though they are a lot better nowadays than when we were kids, in my opinion.

I liked the first, but not the second. I wasn't even all that interested in this movie but when I saw Eclipse at the Drive-In last weekend it was the second movie playing. It's good.

My wife was a skater on Disney on Ice for Toy Story 2. Naturally, we saw part 3 and it made me realize, those dudes at Pixar, can tell a freakin' story man.

Since then, I've sought out most of the rest of their movies and I thought Wall-E was the best one.

Saw Toy Story 3 the other weekend with my son and we both really enjoyed it. I thought the way they said farewell to the series and characters was very well thought out and touching.

You said it. I have never been disappointed in a Pixar movie: the story is always planned and laid out very well, in addition to the attention given to characterization and design. You can tell the people there put a lot into their work and the results show it.

For sure. I've been reading everything I can find about Pixar and that dude, John Lasseter, knows what's going down. I'm highly impressed with that guy.

I know that I'm being horribly wussy, but I don't want to see this if I'm going to cry at the end.
