I really enjoyed this week's episode. Also they've finally made a change I like. Tyrion didn't lose his nose! I think that would have annoyed me by halfway through next season.
I was wondering how they were going to do that. To be fair, we haven't seen exactly what it will mean for next season, but i'm guessing they'll give him a scar and be done with it. While they harp on his even uglier visage a lot in the third book, it isn't exactly a major plot point (at least that I've seen so far, not quite finished reading book 3 yet), so I'm sure they can do without it.

Kind of why it hasn't annoyed me as much as any of the other small changes. I see no real fallout from it. Unlike some of the other changes which I'm hoping they will correct next year. Yes, I'm still talking about the Reeds.

So I really wish I could give you a source for this, but I don't have one, sorry (meaning I don't remember where it's from). But I have heard that they intend on bringing the Reeds in at the beginning of next season, and didn't want to do it this season because there were already a lot of new characters being introduced in the first half of this season and didn't want to overwhelm people who are having trouble keeping track.

I don't know how reliable this information is, but it can at least give us some hope that they haven't completely given up on sticking with the story?

Well that's acceptable. It's just the forward reaching consequences I was most concerned about. Seeing as GRRM has no veto power at all, there's no reason they couldn't go their own way with it. However, this gives me a little faith.

Thanks. Smiley: grin

Thanks for finding the link! I'm excited to see how well they do Margaery's grandmother. She's my favorite character in book 3 so far.

Considering that Margery's Grandmother was there to give text to Margery's subtext, I think they might get rid of her. Seeing as Margery seems to be doing that herself. Shame if they do. I quite liked her as well. Smiley: grin

I don't know if you mean get rid, as in kill her off, or as in write her out, but the article mentions her as a character in Season 3.

Speaking of Margaery, that actress has a weird look on her face. At first I thought it was just how she was acting in Game of Thrones, but then I watched Captain America, and saw a blonde with that same weird look. It was the same actress. I think her face is just stuck with that permanent smirk thing... (No, I never watched Tudors, but looking it up just now, and ya, she has that same smirk there too).

I wouldn't complain if I woke up next to it.

At least it seems to fit her GoT character. I haven't seen Tudors so I don't know if it fit her there as well, and in Captain America she was such a minor character that it didn't matter how she acted.

She was pretty good in the Tudors if I recall. She played Anne Boleyn I think?

While some of the stuff with Arya was left out, I can why they did it. I rather like the actress that plays her though, she has far more talent than she should at her age. I'd really like to see more of her stuff, even if it doesn't have a whole lot to do with the main story. The Battle of the Blackwater was fairly well done, though it could have been better, I have a feeling budget constraints kept it from be as awesome as it was in the book. Tyrion's speech to the soldiers was pleasantly spot on, and Dinkledge did a good job with it. Oddly enough, my favorite part was getting to hear The Rains of Castamere during the ending credits. Bron's version was decent enough, but the version during the credits was quite good. That was a nice little bonus to the people that have read the books, since the story behind it hasn't been mentioned at all during the show.

I agree. I thought the song was hauntingly beautiful. Even though the guy who sang it didn't have the best voice ever, I thought it fit well with the song.

As those of us who have read the book know, the season finale tonight has a lot of ground to cover. Do we think it will cover everything, or have the directors taken some liberties and plan to cover some things next season?

I view the storyline (of the first three books at least) as a single continuous story, and it's been long enough since I read them that I really don't remember what happens between now and the end of book. I do think that this will be a fairly Dany heavy episode though.

I agree with what Turin said. I mean, Dany needs to get her dragons back, and kill the undying people and hear their prophecy. I think all the Winterfell related stuff will wait until next season, though.

I was reading through some cast interviews, watching some interviews, and one was with the actress that plays Arya. I didn't realize how old she was. She looks so much younger than the actress playing Sansa, yet the age difference isn't there. I wonder if the girl playing Sansa is really that tall or if they put her in high heels on camera?

(Also, apparently Youtube linked me to a video of her doing the "Cinnamon Challenge". Smiley: dubious)

Season 2 Finale Synopsis:
"CARL! GET IN THE @#%^ING HOUSE!"

I think they are really going for the zombie look compared to the previous displays of the white walkers.

Edit:
My brother and I haven't read the books. But after the end of the episode my brother came out of his room and said "It's gotta make you feel good about yourself when an army of zombies takes one look at you, shrugs their shoulders, and continues walking."

I just finished book 4 yesterday.

After last nights episode I couldn't help but think that all this warring and ball-gazing is just setting the stage for a big ol zombie apocalypse. Zombieland aside, I've never been a big fan of zombie movies

I'm ambivalent about even continuing to read the series. The next book is still $15.00 electronically.

Khal Drogo looked different in the dreamworld. Was it a different actor?

He looked the same to me...

I'm disappointed, but not surprised, that they didn't show Dany receiving the prophecy. They had more ground to cover with that story than the rest of the characters, so I figured they would leave something out in the interest of time. I AM surprised that they decided to do the scene from the prologue of book 3. That was just an odd place to end it when they had other options.

No it was Jason Momoa playing Kal Drogo as usual.

I'm kind of disappointed with the whole Qarth situation tbh. Was very lacklustre and dropped a lot of Dany's story...

A lot of her story in the East is fairly inconsequential, though. GRRM has even admitted that he had trouble writing Dany's chapters because he simply couldn't relate to her as a character, which is why I think he had to write all of this faffing about to help contextualize her.

The one thing that I found absolutely hilarious was that they killed Xaro Doan Ducksauce, the first black king of Qarth. Game of Thrones is anti-Obama!

Eh, I suppose. I kind of think that she's been rendered irrelevant by the introduction of "Young Griff" in Dance with Dragons.
