While it's true that superhero comics have done this for decades now, this is the biggest issue I take with the genre and I would like to see it improved in the MCU. Or at least refrain from (seemingly) hamfisted retcons like this one.

Else you open the door wide open for all kinds of shenanigans Marvel pulled in the comics.

I wouldn't say "hamfisted". They did establish that she had some kind of immortality and resistance to injury/death (regeneration of some kind). Being able to survive being vivisected for parts is a bit extreme, but my main issue with it wasn't that she survived but that they made it seem via the statements of one character as though she hadn't, and then had her show up without so much as a "Hey. I guess she survived after all!". Probably just editorial choices along the way that created a bit of a disconnect for the viewers.

The "retcon" I was referring to was the supposition that they may have originally intended for her to be dead all along, or at least for Cal to have thought that she was dead all along, but then we find out that Cal knew she was alive. I kinda got the feeling like the reveal that she was still alive would be tied to Cal going nuts and her not wanting to interact with him anymore (which still fits the way they're handling the relationship between them), so it would turn out that she hid the fact that she survived from him. But instead they went with him being the one that put her back together. Which just seemed jarring. Hence my suspicion that they originally planned it one way and then changed their minds later and didn't realize that this would appear disjointed to the audience.

It could literally be as simple as they originally couldn't get a commitment for additional episodes with the actress they'd used in the flashback sequences, so they didn't intend for her to be anything more than back story, but then later her schedule opened up, and she became available, so they changed it to "she survived, but has funky scars on her face now" and made her the person running the Inhuman camp. This sort of thing happens all the time with TV series. I really don't read much more into it than that.

/shrug

Wedon is pretty good at maintaining consistent story lines and reasonable character actions and motivations. To be honest, if the TV show(s) last long enough to go through the kinds of time and writer/direction changes that a typical Marvel comic book goes through in the course of those kinds of shenanigans, then I'll be happy as a clam.

I remember the discussion about her being torn to pieces, and that her "ability" was that she lived a long time. Don't remember whether they actually said she died or not. Buried that lede pretty deep if they did. Considering just how Cal was with her and Poots during the dinner, I'd believe his rage was from having his family torn apart and hurt and not necessarily from a death. I don't mind the revolving door mortality rates, as long as they don't pull a Monarch/Rulk I'll be content.

If he organs made Whitehall immortal, its not a huge leap to believe she is & was put back together by Cal after being killed.

Now, when do we ge tthe full Mr. Hyde?!

I think maybe those liquids in that filing cabinet could have maybe possibly sort of kind of could have been the Hyde Serum. Also Coulson is causing one huge fuster cluck with all this separate SHIELD dealio. I had a laugh at the intro scene with Fitz dressed as a Jehova's Witness. Week after next's episode will probably be heavy Age of Ultron related, like Winter Soldier.

Next week's episode (4/28) will lead into Avengers 2, as Avengers 2 happens the weekend after it. The following episode you may want to skip until you see Age of Ultron, as it will take place after those events.

Finally got around to seeing the last episode and the ending makes it rather hard to wait for the next one. So much cliffhanger!

Lots of action, and fight scenes flowed well. The ending, trying to link itself to AoU felt clumsy as hell though.

I did like the whole "spoiler alert!" bit though. Given that Fury is in AoU (at least I recall seeing him in a trailer or something), kinda saw it coming. But still funny.

I watched SHIELD last night then couldn't resist & watched the first half of the bootleg of Avengers 2 online. Age of Ultron picks up RIGHT after AoS which was cool.

It would have been cooler if the bootleg's sound didn't get behind the video half way through making it unwatchable, but I really liked what I saw. Pretty great characterization with Hawkeye, Black Widow, & Banner in particular. Tony's a bit of a prick, but that's always kind of been the case. Interesting stuff happens with Thor when he goes off on his own a bit. Ultron was neat & his "birth" had a neat origin I didn't see coming.

Again, the sound was all fudged up, but what I got out of the little bit of the Vision stuff I saw was pretty cool (especially how he comes about). As a comic fan, I also noticed them setting up Civil War & Infinity War a bit. I'm sure it will make all of the money.

I finally got around to watching AoS. That bit with Raina was not well done. They should have just ended with the bit with Coulson and the staff. That is pretty much a direct lead in to the beginning of Ultron, they didn't need anything else.

Oh, something that popped up in my head while I was ingesting what felt like year old popcorn. There's something off with her contacts or whatever. I'm not entirely sure she's supposed to have chameleon-like eyes, each focusing in slightly different directions. Also, I can't really say AoU is gonna affect the next episode all that much. Shield was already unifying by the last episode, even if there was a bit of a schism so the events of AoU doesn't really change that.

Not much Age of Ultron, except a little name dropping and everything Raina spoilered last week anyway so if anyone is waiting, it's pretty safe. Definitely nothing like Winter Soldier.

HYDE IS COMING! Smiley: inlove Hey, a symbiote. Smiley: um

Surprised by Gonzales being the good guy, didn't really expect that. I mean, I expected him to die but I figured it'd be his fault, not Elder Poots'. Maybe Raina. Speaking of, MSP certainly seems to jump alliances often, doesn't she? Red Wave(?), then Shield, and now Inhuman. Overall I think I'll have to rethink my Civil War predictions to include indexing.

Ichabod's son was on Forever.

I'm curious what it's supposed to be. Don't know enough about it all. Something the Kree created to destroy Inhumans?

First off, the season finale of Forever was brutal. Good job Mr. Fantastic. Smiley: clap Also, I'll be referring to Elder Poots Jiaying as Magneto from now on because I'm for some reason always blanking on her name and when I remember it have to do pretty tiring searches on how to spell it. (Tortured by Nazis during WWII, considers Inhumans superior to regular humans, bands together her people to combat everyone else, considers isolationism for her people a great solution, willing to do anything to cause war in the name of protecting her people? Totally early era Magneto.)

If I were to venture a guess, I'd put a few coins on Psyche-Magnetron. Kree tech, starts as a box, has transformative capabilities.

Terrigen Omega-3 fish oil.

Jemma got ate by NotVenom.

Secret Warriors.

Raina the Hedgehog ded.

Ward, Head of Hydra.

Kind of sort of Hyde transformation. I cheered when the grotesque hand popped up. Woke up the house. The overall costume could have been done better, though. I wasn't expecting a cockney Hulk ... well, I kind of was ... but they could have bulked him up a bit more. "Monstar" was a nice touch.

Magneto is ded.

Cal gets kind of happy ending.

Dat Bobbi torture.

Son of Coul Lannister'd / Grimm'd.

Sightcrawler ded.

Jemma got ate by NotVenom. I repeated it, I know. There's that kick into supervillainy. Bets on Moonstone. Any takers?
Man, they went all out with this episode. Was a pretty good episode, a little above average up until that last thirty seconds that really kicked it to the next level. Now we have to wait for the next stupid season.

No mention of Coulson's loss of limb, zombie virus containment style? I think that surprised me the most out of the episode. The second moment being Bobbi jumping Ward. Admittedly didn't see it happening right then.

What was with the ribcage design of Coulson's new ship? Some views on the print looked pretty standard, but that one corner seemed to remind me of the Chitauri ship.

Yeah. Have to say that this was a pretty darn good season finale. Wrapped up the current storyline and opened up a whole boatload of new stuff. Very nice!

Be curious to see what Coulson does to replace his hand. I suppose he could go with a standard issue prosthetic (well, "standard" for SHIELD anyway), but given his propensity for gadgets, I'm betting he'll have some "upgrades" hidden in there.

Totally funny how Fitz just kinda slips whilst nervously asking Gemma out, and just happens to open the door to the Kree McGuffin. Then... Slurp! Dunno. Just came off perfectly IMO. Just enough ridiculousness, but not too much.

This finale absolutely has me looking forward to next season.
