New trailer for the show about Batmans (and some of his archenemies') origins. Centered around a young Gordon.

While the trailer looks pretty good, I'm on the fence about this one.

I'm predicting the first season will be mostly introductory of characters and open ended story elements meant to go on for years. Late first / early second season is when it'll actually get good.

Then it'll be canceled because it's on Fox and isn't MacFarlene.

If they add in the fighting text bubble word like they had in the original series, it'll be win.

Knowing fox I predict they will run it for 2 or 3 seasons and then cancel it rather its popular or not just like they did with the Terminator show.

Gotham started out well enough. A lot of name dropping. A bit more interesting than I had expected.

It might work out if there are unique villains for Gordon to handle, but I wasn't really impressed.
I also don't follow Batman games/new comics so I don't know if this TV show is based of any of the new stuff.

I liked most of it. I did not like Alfred with an Australian accent & I thought there were way too many cameos, but it was otherwise enjoyable. Will watch again.

The girl they have playing Selina... her face looks so much older than 15. Nothing really to say about her or her character. Just kind of background noise at the moment.

Ivy, not sure if they plan on doing anything with her. I can't see this show doing anything with the younger generation (besides Selina) so I can't tell what they'd do with Ivy.

I liked Oswald.

I know next to nothing about anything other than whats been shown in the various movies and what little I've seen in various animated series off and on, so I don't know if the two main baddies so far Fish and Falcone have any story to expect.

Overall: Liked it.

Nitpicking: Alfred's dialect was completely wrong. While not Australian (actor is a Londoner, as far as I know), it wasn't posh enough for a British butler.

Sorry, when anyone with an accent anywhere close to english says "mate" my yankee ears associate it with Australians. You can thank Crocodile Dundee for that.

I'm pretty sure Falcone was in The Dark Knight (He's basically the mafia boss of Gotham) while Fish is a comics character I guess.

I do NOT think the comedian in the club was the Joker, but that is due to an interview I read. LOVED Harvey Bullock, great Penguin/Cobblepot, while uncertain about Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Ivy, & The Riddler.

Very likely. I am very bad with remembering character names.

I missed the Riddler. I didn't even think of it during his scene, was just thinking "Man this guy is annoying."

I have no idea where the right page is, or what odd book it might be in I own, but I do recall the Joker having a crappy mob life before he became the Joke. Red Hood?
Found the right page
So it could have been him telling jokes.

I enjoyed it. I'm not sure how they're going to be able to sustain a story though. Kinda felt like they were blowing their whole wad in the pilot. Also, if their intent was to use Gotham as any sort of tie in to upcoming DC universe films/shows, the time frame they're using isn't going to work. Viewed solely on its own, though, it looks pretty good.

Preppy dark goth Bruce Wayne!?
Once a long time I go there was a local band that did Death Metal and they dressed in preppy clothing. Made for a unique show.

Ep2, meh. I'd like more Cobblepot story.

Did I catch the part about the Waynes being part of the mob? Being I don't follow Batman at all, that is something to add to why they were killed.

I commented earlier on Selina's actress looking a lot older than she is. I still think her face looks a lot older, but hearing her talk, definitely sounds like a kid.

Every time I see Richard Kind, I can't help but think of Scrubs and Spin City. Can't take him seriously.

So far I do enjoy the series. Needs more Penguin though. Harvey Bullock is a good character too.

The Fish character reminds me a lot of Giancarlo Esposito's characters in Breaking Bad and Revolution. Very similar mannerisms and facial expressions. Calm, but crazy and scheming under the surface.

Nah. It's totally Tina Turner in Thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leaves!

I'm actually enjoying Gotham for its own story and whatnot, quite a bit. Once I dropped the initial assumptions I had, it's actually really good. I'm still a bit concerned that they appear to have a very tight and pre-written storyline for the first season, and I'm not sure what they'll do after that, but while it's hard to tell just two shows in, it looks like they're laying a good foundation for what could be a really great series. And I agree that Cobblepot is perfect. Actually, all the characters have been well played so far. At least nothing has glaringly annoyed me, and that's rare for a TV show.

Am I the only one who thought that Bruce was going to choose to adopt one of the orphan kids right on the spot (hell, may still do so). Wonder who that will be? Maybe the shy boy on the bus? Perhaps named Grayson? Hmm....

Still think Alfred is the worst character on the show, but other than that its still decent.

Also love that young Selina Kyle seems to resemble a young Michelle Pfeiffer.

So many shows to watch ... ugh.

Anyway, first episode ticked me right off. The fat guy they shot wasn't an innocent man by any stretch of the imagination, damn it. Yeah, he was framed for the Waynes' Murder, got that. However, he also threw a table, shot at, and cut a cop. As of the second episode, damn it's pretty brutal. Little Bruce seems to be a 'tard, which all my experience with the character shows it to be a bit accurate. Alfred seems to be too much of a cnut, but hopefully they'll take the edge off him in future episodes. The guy is a professional caregiver, it's pretty unrealistic to think he wouldn't know how to handle a kid. It's kind of part of his job description. I'll continue watching a little while longer.

Again to sate: I do not know Batman lore, only what I know from movies.

He never had children, so Bruce would be his 1st kid he ever has had to taken care of.

I didn't know Butlers and Nannies were trained to be the same?
I always figured a Butler just kept the house clean, and did chores so the rich people he was working for didn't have to. I always thought Bruce's mother was a stay at home type, so she would have been there for Bruce's needs (No need for a Nanny/Maid). While Alfred did the man work around the mansion while Mr. Wayne was off at work.

Alfred's backstory is usually that of a former combat field medic that became a butler. Having him be a bit gruff while younger wouldn't bother me if he wasn't supposed to be the butler of the richest family in Gotham.

If he was really hired to be more of a body guard/assistant, well he really sucked at that job. Bruce should fire him if that is the case.

TV Alfred sucks thus far, but it isn't enough of a distraction to make me stop watching. Yet.

... Any particular reason the seasoned veteran lieutenant cop's first reaction to being slowly lifted into the air by a weather balloon was to shriek in horror and not reach for the clearly visible service revolver from his shoulder holster? Also cops don't know how balloons work? They think balloons just stay up in the air forever? No wonder why crime is such an issue in Gotham. It was kind of funny where the first body landed ...

Of all the characters I'm liking Cobblepot the most so far, and I kind of like Bullock. Alfred is still a cnut, and Gordon is pretty much boring. Not sure if it's the role or the actor but so far he's pretty much forgettable. Speaking of actors, is Selena an adult that looks like a child or a child that looks like an adult? I'm not sure what to make of her, but she kind of creeps me out.

As far as canon, I'm in no way knowledgeable of the Batman universe, but I was always under the impression that Alfred was some kind of British Super Spy like James Bond, and that Bullock was a unrepentant jackass but not crooked. Naming Gordon's girlfriend in this show Barbara is kind of creeping me out.

Jada Pinkett Smith did not age gracefully ...

Selina is a child that looks like an adult. Imdb says she's 15. I mentioned it a few times in the past posts. Her face looks like she's in her 20s.

My Brother's GF has said this a few times. Why?
Isn't Barbara the name of Gordon's wife? strange to assume they are not that far in their relationship yet?

Batman: Year One confirms Gordon's wife is named Barbara. Batgirl is most likely Barbara Jr.
