Seems they made this season of Westworld complicated just for the sake of being complicated. The final scene was ultimately unnecessary and doesn't fit cleanly into the already mess of a timeline jumble that was Bernard. Feels like they tacked it onto the end of the episode just to give them something to do in a possible Season 3. It was just like "Oh, remember what he did to his Step-father? His daughter is doing it to him now! Is he real? Was this all a test?" Doesn't fit cleanly into his near-dead self already being at the survivor boats getting removed, if before that he gets taken to the holding chamber and told he's not real by his believed to be dead, real daughter.

I think I'm on episode 8 of Luke Cage. And watched the latest season of Voltron (I like it, even though these past two seasons were very short and more like Part 1 and Part 2 of the same season).

Cartoon Network has become much more annoying recently with their "New episodes all week, all day long" BS. What they really mean is we have a couple new episodes that we'll keep repeating all week long and claim they are new each time. And, at least on my cable box from Charter Spectrum, the schedule is 100% inaccurate, saying the wrong show is on.

My DVR box is pretty much empty now. I don't see anything being recorded except a couple more episodes of FLCL. I missed setting up Cloak and Dagger, will have to catch those on demand.

The theory out on the webs is that this is another of those "out of sequence" bits, foreshadowing what's to come (just as the scenes between Dolores and "Arnold" made us assume these were flashbacks of him testing her, when in fact it was her testing Bernard's ability to copy Arnold). Sometime in the future, MiB (or a copy of him) gets put into the forge and is tested for "fidelity", and just as his stepfather's core event was failing to save his son, William's is killing his own daughter. So he's replaying that over and over (in the virtual world) until he "gets it right", or changes his choices, or whatever. The analogy actually works, since in the VR forge we saw virtual Logan running his father through the loop over and over, so now a virtual Emily is doing the same to her father.

So no. The "real" William is lying on the ground, badly wounded, waiting to be transferred out of the park, just as you saw. The only bit that makes this theory a bit questionable is that the first thing he says is that he's inside Ford's "thing" (presumably the Forge, or whatever VR he might be thinking off), and she tells him he's "in the park". I suppose both could be true. Especially if she's testing him, but part of his core is to question whether anything around him is "real", so she's tricking him a bit. Dunno. It's a theory, but it works.

And I suppose that could lead us to hints about what occurs in season 3.

Quote:
I think I'm on episode 8 of Luke Cage.

I'm just about finished with hit (on episode 12, didn't actually check to see how many there are). I'm enjoying the story, but I have the same issue with this season that I had with season 1. There's just something about how they do the dialogue sequences that seriously puts me to sleep. Just a lot of talking, in mostly slow, low, melodic tones that just makes my eyes droop. Same issue with season one. I usually watch a few episodes late at night and I'd find myself suddenly realizing my mind hand wandered off and didn't remember what the last scene or so was about, rewind and try to watch again, have it happen again, and then decide to just turn it off and go to sleep (I learned my lesson, since in season 1, a couple times I did just fall asleep and then wake up and an episode or two had played in the background and I had no clue what was going on, so now when I detect this, I just quit while I'm ahead).

Sometimes, this happens even if I'm watching during the day (like last Sunday, when I found myself with nothing pressing to do, so I watched a couple episodes). It seriously puts me to sleep. I have to turn it off and get out of comfy chair and go find something active to do. No clue why Luke Cage does this so consistently. Most other shows I can manage (not that I don't occasionally doze off in front of the TV just for general purposes, cause.. I'm old or something). This one just really really gets me.

I've also noticed they go seriously out of their way to make everyone, no matter how "bad" they are, have a back story and personalty. That's a good thing, but I think they go a bit too far with the whole "let's play back and forth with who is the "bad guy" of this part of the story. They did it in the first season, so I'm kinda expecting the same pattern, but it's kinda hard to see someone as sympathetic after he's hacked off people's heads and put them on spikes. I get that they're going for "shades of grey", and putting Luke in the "lesser of two evils" and "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situations seems like a theme. I just think they go a bit too far with it. It's a bit contrived and I kinda wish they'd just go with one "bad guy" for a season, and stick with it.

Still, I enjoy it because Cage is just awesome the way he's played. I also loved the references to the Heroes for Hire stuff. We'll see if that develops over time. I hope it does, since Luke and Danny together was really cool, although they *really* need to work on fight choreography for Dann. The only fighting style that looked remotely good was when he was in Iron Fist. Defenders looked like everyone had the same choreographer and so they all looked the same when fighting. Same deal here. He looked like he was lost, and couldn't throw a punch with anything that looked remotely like any martial arts style much less Kung Fu. Was still good, but could have been better. I get that these shows have to deal with tight budgets, and stuff like that often gets dropped along the way, but still.

Yeah. Kinda of a summer slump going on. Pretty much the only thing that's recording in a given week is Elementary and Cloak and Dagger. Oh. And the series finale of Expanse, which is playing tonight (assuming it's not picked up by another outlet of course). I bailed on Supergirl a couple seasons ago. My DVR seemed hell bent on forgetting that it was in the series manger every single season, so I had to back track on season 2. Did the same thing when season 3 came along, and I just didn't bother. Got waaaaaay too emo and teen angsty for me. I never got into the other DC based shows, although I have a friend who's huge into them and raves about them, so I'll probably go through them on Netflix at some point (Legends at least sounds interesting to me).

Oh. Is anyone else watching the finale (really this time!) episodes of 12 Monkeys? I watched the whole multi-episode thing they did last year, and it was "ok". This one's looking better, and is kinda fun (and has a whole season of episodes running 3 a night each Friday for 4 weeks), and looks like they may actually resolve the whole storyline. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit (though it's a huge "chunk" of stuff to watch all at once).

Am I the only one that thinks Luke Cage's fight choreography, or at least the editing, has been done poorly? I'm watching Luke Cage and *insert any enemy here* fight it out and the kicks, punches, etc. all seem to be happening in slow motion, and it is like I can see the hits either not landing, or being "pulled". But the editing and/or cutaways don't happen soon enough for it to not be noticed. Like we are seeing the second that is usually covered by a "POW!" or "BAM!" splash screen on old batman shows.

Edit:
And I realized that even though my DVR box is pretty much empty... I still haven't watched the last two episodes of Arrow.

I didn't mind the choreography in Cage, mainly because I never really had high expectations for it. Cage isn't exactly a martial artists, and it isn't Danny's show. If anything, I think they did make Danny more likeable than he was in his own series, so that's a bonus.

Jared Leto just confirmed he'll be playing Morbius in Sony's weird Spider-Man's Supporting Cast slash Rogue's Gallery Universe. Maybe he'll actually appear in the movie this time.

Netflix (I think it was Netflix) has saved Lucifer for at least a season, so I'm hoping those final episodes that were like lost episodes or whatever get put into context with the rest of the show.

As an aside, Disney has the green light to purchase the various Fox studios on sale, and they've upped their bid over Comcast so all that's really left now is for the t's to be dotted and the i's to be crossed and we should be hearing about a Fantastic Four project to actually look forward to. My wish list for that is to get the people that did The Incredibles. That was basically Fantastic Four anyway so it isn't a huge leap.

DC has confirmed some details about their streaming service. First, the live action Titans will be one of the service's premiere shows ... you know, the one where Star Fire looks like a transsexual prostitute. There's an animated Harley Quinn as well, which I imagine what an animated Deadpool would be like if the creators only ever read Daniel Way's book. There's also a Doom Patrol and a Swamp Thing as well, all in the near future. The really exciting news from that is the next season of Young Justice: Outsiders, though. That was a quality 'toon when it was still on air, so another season is always a plus. They'll also offer books to read, similar to the Marvel Unlimited app. Which, you know, is about time for people that don't know how the internet works. No word on price yet, but I don't think I'll personally subscribe, seeing as how I already have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.

I had heard they wouldn't, but I guess Marvel had some announcements of their own at SDCC. First off, what appears to be a kids cartoon (which you would think would be obvious, since cartoon, but nope ...) featuring some of the "newer" characters like Kamala Khan version of Ms Marvel, Quake, and Squirrel Girl. Notable that Chloe Bennett will voice Quake, so that's something. Marvel also announced that there will be an announcement and "exclusive inside scoop on what’s in-store for season two as Danny Rand and Colleen Wing set off on a new adventure as the protectors of lower NYC." Hopefully the inside scoop is a new fight choreographer.

Saturday there'll be a panel about the next season of The Gifted, so that should be good. Sunday will be an announcement for the Black Panther's Quest cartoon, and an announcement for the next season of Legion.

Season 1 is a little slow, but it's introductory so that's to be expected. The CGI overall is also iffy. Somewhere between season 2 and 3 the writers decided to lean heavy into camp, and honestly it helps distinguish from the other CW shows and some of the places they go is absolutely worthwhile.

Antman & The Wasp opens tonight, so there's that.

Minka Kelly, who will be playing Dove on Titans, says the her character and Hawk will be portrayed realistically. Which in a show with a green dude who can shapeshift into any animal, a demon spawn in a cloak with basically unlimited powers, and a space faring drag queen alien princess realism is of the utmost importance.

Antman & The Wasp.

It's alright. About on par with Dr. Strange. Some decent humor, some creative action, not too terribly strong on story. Basically, Pym wants to get his wife back and they spend he whole movie fighting with two separate groups that want Pym's tech for themselves. Ghost, I suppose, is supposed to be the main villain, but she really just wants to find a way to cure herself, she's desperate, not evil. Honestly, aside from that she's not very memorable. Nothing at all relates back to Infinity War until the mid-credits scene, and even then, it's nothing new. There is also an end-credits scene that I think was supposed to be funny, but wasn't.

I wouldn't blame anyone for not going to the theater to see it. I almost didn't, but I had nothing better to do tonight, so....

If anything, it's a pretty decent palate cleanser after how heavy Black Panther and Infinity War was. It's a low stakes feel good (for the most part) family movie to mostly break up the mood from the last two movies. Wasn't a particular fan of how drastically they changed Ghost's character, though. Going from corporate sabotage to ninja assassin is a bit too much for my tastes.

In rumor news, Nic Cage is apparently signed on to voice Spider-Man Noir in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse movie. Not a bad choice.

It's being reported that Joaquin Phoenix is officially onboard for that Joker origin movie, though it also looks like Scorsese is out due to scheduling issues. Shazam has found it's Wizard in Djimon Hounsou, who will also reprise his role as Korath from Guardians of the Galaxy in Captain Marvel. He was the guy "Who?" guy.

Also, apparently Billy Dee Williams will be returning for the next official Star Wars movie as Lando, because I guess they didn't kill off enough of the original cast.

I've enjoyed this season of Preacher a lot more than I thought I would after the last season. Seems we might be getting more Hitler and ******** soon. And the Hell guy (I forget his name, if he had one...)

And I haven't been able to get to the movies recently. The only movie I've seen is the second Jurassic World. I wanted to watch Incredibles 2 and Ant Man 2 but haven't had the time.

Filter makes it tough to figure out who you're talking about, but I'm going to guess the guy with the scar over his eye? That would be Starr, and I'd like to see more of him as well. The rest of the characters are a little boring compared to him, even in the books. I'm also looking forward to whatever the Tombs is which looks like a paranormal Fight Club, and whatever that preview between Saint of Killers and who I'm assuming is Satan was about is interesting.

I've heard good things about Incredibles 2, and while Ant-Man and Wasp is enjoyable, if you had to pick between the two you'd probably be better off with Incredibles 2. Like I said, A&W won't disappoint, but it isn't stellar either.

Ya, I didn't check to see what got caught by the filter. Should have known the words would be gone. Hitler and Arseface and the Hell Guy (who I don't recall a name for). My DVR cut off the last few seconds of the next week preview, but the last scene looked to be a pan up shot from the feet of someone in boots walking thru a doorway overlooking a walkway surrounded by fire-y bodies. Those three people, and the Hell prison, haven't been involved in this season so far.

Seems that Walking Dead super-fan, Yvette Nicole Brown, is going to host the Talking Dead. Cause of those abuse claims against Hardwick.

And we won't get to see Scarlett Johansson dress up like a man and give handjobs. Which ever part of that sentence disappoints you.

Next week Friday, 7PM EST, Adventure Time has a Minecraft episode. Looks like it will be fun. Kind of rare to get a new Adventure Time episode. Sounds like it is wrapping up the show. Seasons 1-6 were released on BluRay, but with season 7 Cartoon Network abandoned BluRay releases on all their shows, so it's DVD only. And seasons 8-10 are being released together on DVD only as "The Final Seasons" or something like that. So if you were a collector, you are screwed over. As far as I know the overall story is pretty well wrapped up. I had heard a few years back that the show creator had just lost interest in actually making it. One of these days I should look up and see if any more Bravest Warriors had come out.

I don't really put in time to watch Talking Dead, but the few times I did see it and she was on I had no complaints. Shame about Hardwick, though. He doesn't seem the type. I mean, I'm surprise Jenny McCarthy hasn't been gigged, considering how often she shoves her tongue down people's throats during the New Years countdown programs.

I thought Adventure Time was over.

Preacher: A little disappointed by the very stereotypical depiction of Hell and the Devil. I get that it sort of fits with the non-serious, comedic nature. After the "Hell is just you reliving your worst moment" prison, which is admittedly growing a bit cliche in itself these days, going back to the big red goat demon devil and the firey pit...

I only hope that the Devil is sending the Gun-man back up to get Eugene and Hitler. I don't recall them showing the names or picures in the file. But I am guessing the Devil is none to happy about the escapees.

Also, Hitler changing his name to "Hilter" on his employee uniform... not a very good disguise...

Cassidy has been kind of a prick this season. Tulip seems to understand what Jesse is doing, but Cassidy isn't catching on.

Ended up watching Ant Man last weekend. Good enough movie but definitely not really up there in terms of MCU stuff. Much like the first one. Gap filler until we get to more important storylines. Speaking of... What is the next MCU film? I haven't heard anything.

So He-Man's twin sister, She-Ra, is getting the reboot on Netflix, and ... she looks like a boy.

Speaking of batshit crazy, apparently after the CW's annual crossover event, Batwoman is getting a full show as well. The crossover itself will air in December, and apparently will exclude the Legends of Tomorrow cast which really sucks.

Titans trailer, featuring Dick Grayson forgetting he's not Jason Todd going on a killing spree and Marshmallow shooting fire out of her hands.

The streaming service is $74.99 a year. So torrents it is. I mean, it's like $6/month but that implies you'll use it constantly and I really don't want to invest in a yearly subscription on something I might be finished with in a month or two.

Comcast has officially bowed out of trying to acquire Fox, leaving the field open for Disney to take over. The whole congressional stuff is reportedly pretty much done, so Wolverine and Ben Grimm should be trading punches with Steve Rogers and Peter Parker in the MCU late '19, early '20.

Doctor Who: Season 11 trailer: I like her jacket.

March 8th seems a long time to wait for no MCU movie. Maybe Ant Man should have been a Fall/Winter release? There wasn't much time between Infinity War and Ant Man, right?

Not super interested in Venom, might wait on that one to leave the theaters. Depends on how I feel around the time it actually comes out. Will probably see the new Spider-man.

I recently watched Quiet Place. That movie disappointed. As hyped as it was in the reviews I guess I expected a lot more. In the end there was nothing at all special about it. It played out like any post apocalyptic movie on TV/DVD release does.

Won't be buying a subscription to the streaming service to watch the Titans series.

Iron Fist Season 2 Official Synopsis wrote:
Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny, a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart.
A couple more details were revealed as well. First, Simmon Missick will return as Misty Knight, and the naked chick Alice Eve from Star Trek will be Typhoid Mary; Multiple personality stripper with telekinesis and psychokinesis. Clayton Barber doing fight choreography. Some of the show will be in K'un L'un. Come out September 7th ... which is the same day as the Spider-Man game on PS4. Teaser:

There is a brief teaser for The Gifted, which reveals the official trailer will be released tomorrow. A couple of brief clips of some characters, and a very pregnant Polaris.

DC Universe has ordered a Stargirl live-action TV series. You might remember the character from Legends of Tomorrow, the girl with the staff dressed like Captain America.

AlmostDomino from Deadpool 2, Zazie Beetz, is in talks to join Joanquin Phoenix in the Joker origin movie. Not sure how to feel about that. She's a good actress, the premise for the movie seems entirely beneath her. * Speaking of, apparently the movie will reveal a real name for the Joker. Arthur Fleck. A.Fleck. Get it? Because it's funny?

Trailer for the new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nickelodeon is so horrible ...

Let's see ... Rick Grimes, Andrew Lincoln, is leaving The Walking Dead so no more things and stuff. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is returning.
Speaking of Spider-Man PS4, story trailer was released.

Have some Young Justice: Outsiders teaser.
