What are some monsters that you guys are hoping to be in the game besides the few that are already known?

Seeing as they had Raptors on their main site, I am hoping they would have that gigantic T-Rex from FFXII that kept eating those wolves.

I think they've covered most of the Final Fantasy staple creatures (cactuars, malboros, ahrimans, etc.). I also agree with the OP that it would be fun to have mobs that eat others, although maybe nothing as big as a T-rex; perhaps raptors will hunt antelopes.

I'd like to see a less fugly redesign of Tonberry.
It made sense for the sake of storyline, but I really missed the fact the karmic one-shotter extraordinaire wasn't hug-ably adorable.

Funnily enough I saw an old trailer for FFXI a few weeks back, that showed a Goobue gobbling up Mandies in the middle of Qufim.

I'm guessing it was somthing that was cut from the game, or somthing they just did for the benefit of the trailer, but it made me giggle none the less. I'll post a link if I can find it again.

EDIT: Found it! Skip forward to 1:08 ...poor mandies :(

Though I'd stab someone for a playable Tonberry, since that's very unlikely, I naturally want to see their return (though not like in XI). Same goes for Golems. And Treants (not XI Treants, gawd).

I'm too tired to think very clearly on this, but since I was recently flipping through the bestiary, there are a couple from IX I know I'd like to see:

Tantarian: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/psx/ffix/bestiary5.shtml

Gimme Cat: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/psx/ffix/bestiary2.shtml

And Uribo from FFT: http://squarehaven.com/games/PS-Portable/Final-Fantasy-Tactics-War-of-the-Lions/guide/bestiary/?page=10

Probably a dozen others, but yaaaaaaaawn.

I'd like to see more humanoid enemies, NPC members of the playable races that are bad guys beyond just a few mission bosses. Like a band of thieves out in the woods or an evil cult of sorcerers up in a tower. Perhaps even enemy soldiers.

More variety in undead mobs; make mummies look like mummies and zombies look like zombies. Have undead of each race beyond just Fomors.

When I first started on the PS2 release I was under the dilusion that higher level players wanted to help us lower level guys so I saw a Level 69 Dark riding a chocobo and asked him if he had any advice for a level 5 War outside of Sandy killing rabbit. His simple reply was.........

"just remember anywhere you go there is a rabbit that can and will destroy you"

It really didn't come back to mind unitl leveling on those giraffe things in the 60's and you would link some bunnies and they would wipe the entire party.

I don't know about putting all the cutesy mobs early in the game. For the most part, yeah, but it's been fairly common for them to use cutesy mobs but give them deadly properties.

I mean, you wouldn't be afraid of a cute little Tonberry or Cactaur, until of course you actually fight one.

Sometimes being cute just makes them all the more scary.

I definetely want to see the "Lore" Mobs coming. Not just the traditional FF lore Mobs(like Avatars/Summons etc), but Lore Mobs connected to the new story thats coming with FFXIV. Like some "generals" from the Empire abroad or some other things that would be similiar to the Shadow Lord fight, Ark Angels, Promathia etc .

And hopefully all will be as challenging and rewarding as CoP if not more!!!

I'd like to take this moment to deliver a special @#%^ you to whoever has been ratecamping me lately. No no, don't rate me back up. I'm not playing for karma. This is just a special little dialogue between me and them. @#%^ you for being a bitter prick, because whatever has you on my ass, I was right, and you were wrong, and nothing that happens to my karma will ever change that. I hope clicking that red arrow gives you some relief from your ineptitude, but I think you should know that catharsis doesn't work. And if you were hoping I'd be a little less of a dick if I got defaulted enough, you should know that I've been a pretty unapologetic dick for nearly all of my fat post count, and ratedowns have never changed that. One of my friends made a post on his LiveJournal where he turned friends of his into Campaign NPCs. I was one of them, and my division was called the "Persecuted Galka Dance Troupe", a group of Galka DNC in mining gear, carrying pickaxes. Every time they danced, they would make comments in /say regarding Humes and/or reparations. I also have the Galka-only attack "Super Crusher Jig", which is apparently self-explanatory.

Therefore, I wish to add to the mob wish list my own personal army of Roegadyn. They would fight with fishing poles.

Machine mobs that take damage when you successfully steal from them like in FFX.

Random friendly mobs like FFXII.

Groups of outcasts from the playable races.

Mobs that ride other mobs. Like a goblin riding a wolf or an orc on a pig.

Mobs that heal eachother. The way it sounds we could very well get this.

Bombs

Pheonix

Behemoth

I wouldn't mind if the giant rams made an appearance.

Wasn't there a random UFO mob in FFVIII?

Kraken

A giant cactuar

Ultros

Colored chocobos as mobs

Mobs that raise as undead shortly after defeat

werewolf type mob

My wish is not so much a particular mob, but a trait, or quality of monsters. I would like to see them eat. Let me explain:

A Herbivore would eat.. well, plants lol.

A Carnivore would attack a Herbivore( more likely the non aggresive mobs) and shred it to pieces. Or work together like a pack of lions taking down a huge prey. Watch the beast run for its life and fail... or maybe its pack will help defend it! This would make the frontiers way more realistic.

Survival of the fittest...

As long as they keep the FF staples I will be happy.

A quick list:

Cid, Moogles, Chocobo, the Classic Summons (Ramuh, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Pheonix, Alexander, Odin, Bahamut), Gilgamesh, Mandys, Magic pots (old-school FF style), Tonberries, Ochu, Goblins, Imps, Ogres, Gigas/Giants, Elementals (FFIV style), Morbols, Ahriman, Bombs, Chimera, Sahagin, Funguar, Skeletons, Cactuar, Coeurl/Torama, Golems, Cockatrice, Mu, Alraune, Hedgehog Pie (FFIX) Griffons, Flan/Pudding/Slimes, Landworms, Anteaters, Lamia, Hecteyes, Basalisks, Mechanical constructs/Magitech (Demon Wall FFIV/FFXII), Iron Giants, Zuu (FFVI/FFX style) Nightmare, Kraken, Lich, Maliris, Tiamat, Dragons, Wyverns, Chimera, Behemoth, Demons, Adamantoise, Deathguise, Ultima Weapon, Omega Weapon, etc...

I also second the presence of epic/giant monsters in the game.. something akin to the Lao Shan Lung or Shen-Gaoren battles in Monster Hunter would be all kinds of awesome.

A really big lobster would be a cool mob.

Although honestly, Mandragora's I'd love to be in the game again.

And SE... Make Cactuars back the way they're suppsoed to :\ it's not cool seeing a little mini cactus walking around. A little mini cartoonish cactus that like, skips around while alternating his arms and legs however owns.

Seriously, old cactuars <3 ; ;
