FFXIV will not have RMT like brogame or even sisgame. Like all of us, they to will notice in paragraph 72 on page 1,358 of the FFXIV user agreement that real money transactions are prohibited and they will get worried they may get banned 5 years down the road and seek another game.

This is the stupidest thread I've ever read in my entire life. I'm officially done with FFXIV Zam forums.

so I haven't played FFXI in a long time (since right before WoW came out, and no, it wasn't to switch to WoW - i f*ckin hated WoW lol) but anyway, i had a couple questions since there's talk of "FFXIV Dying"...(1) I recently have been getting the urge to re-join the world of FFXI and before I quit i had a 58 SAM and would really like to just pick up where i left off rather than start fresh (i didn't delete my character, just canceled payments) and was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to retreive a char from that long ago. and i also don't have record of my account number or anything. just my char's name and server.... and (2) Since there's no for sure release date of FFXIV and it seems to be so much different than, yet similar to, FFXI, does anyone really think it's worth buying FFXI again to play till FFXIV, or has everything gone to so much crap that I outta just wait till FFXIV considering the release date could be postponed to who knows when..but anyway, just wondering what everyone thinks about it.

Hasnt become crap at all, my server atleast. Population is a bit lower than you might remember, but we have a really really good thing going right now(beta testing for XIV features is happening :p)

In all seriousness, FFXI is still fun, to me atleast and some new stuff has been added to make it more casual friendly not to mention a fast-forward option(I believe the in game term is Astral Burn party) -- and yes, I truly mean the part about XIV features being beta tested in XI albeit to a far lesser degree than we'd probably see in the final release, but the more primitive mechanics or at the very least the principals are being implemented as updates which is indeed very shrewd of SE(in a good way)

Shameless bumb.
Don't burn me, but considering the recent news, I think this discussion (flamewar) deserves to be kindled again.

While my appetite for the game has dwindled somewhat of recent (I bought The Witcher II to keep me amused until 1.18) I don't think the game is dying as such, just the population is becoming apathetic. There have been some big promises and small content modifications, we are currently sterilised and waiting for SE to give us a megadose injection.

If they **** that up, then yes, I would think the decline might be too great for any type of salvation.

It's eery how people were joking about this before the game was released, and now... heh. I personally blame all these people for why FFXIV sucks. Clearly it's their fault!

No. But I guess we get some more

- Chocobo caps
- Chocobo chocolate
- Half-roast chocobo recipe (tragically missing the main ingredient)
- Choco-Po, a fluffy mascot for our Market Ward retainers
- Dodo Chariots
- Some more monsters who drop Chocobo Feathers
- A cameo appearance of a strange yellow feathered centaur in the final mission "Cry of the Horsebird"

It's still far from me being able to imagine a scenario where I say "I'll gladly pay monthly for this". Though to others it's already there or really close. -shrugs-

Maybe I can get in touch with the person who has every class capped and talk 'em into doing some webcasts. Just experience the game vicariously through them and save the trouble.

Improvements are coming to slow. I had 2 new people(new to the game) join my LS a few weeks ago. I hooked them up with gear and some gil and answered all of their question when they had any even killed some NMs to get them some gear. They still quit the game even after all of the changes the game still isnt worth playing for people who dont have much invested in it already.

I don't know what server your playing on OP, but I'm on Trabia which isn't even the most populated server and I see as many players as I used to when running round on XI in it's later days. I would personally say it's fine for now, but definitely needs a boost come PS3 release since it's supposed to be a NEW mmo.

Ugh, that'd be the worst movement speed ever!!! It would take you like a year and half just to get from your starting city to the first camp!
On a plus side, though... You'd probably one-shot everything that agro'd you.

Yes you can. But why ask if people still play the game? I never got that from people that just want to solo. Who cares if there is other people?

cause its not really all that black and white. I'm kinda in the same boat as this guy. I want to be able to solo a lot but there's still big stuff that should be grouped, and its still nice to have other players around for the game economy.

That's very nice of you greeting new players like that. I came back to the game over the long weekend and I couldn't even find a hint on an invite. The LSs that responded stated that they were only interested in recruiting R.40+ players or straight out R.50 only.

I really wonder how many people will still be around to actually witness the sweeping changes that are going to be implemented in the new miracle patch in June.

Wouldn't it have been better to simply shut down and re-launch the game?

By the way: Both the german and the french official forum pages are de facto dead. There's been no posts in the battle section for almost half a year. SE is just wasting money on the localized versions.

I liked that one too, but mostly because I like being right.

Looking back, I only can't believe I was so patient with all the plebians who failed to see how roles and teamwork are completely separate game constructs.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Multiple days in a row I have seen the "recent visitors" numbers drop to double digets on this forum. I dont think I have ever seen it do that multiple days in a row until now. Might be an indicatior to peoples interest in the game is sinking to all time lows.

Hmmm, the recent visitors count in WoW general is only 58, while it reads 80 here. I don't think it's the best measure of interest. There isn't a lot to talk about, but there is plenty of grind to be had...
