Let's hear it. New things you want to see that were never added to FFXI.

Personally, I wanna see some Geomancer action Smiley: glare

Extensive customization of your character. Age, skin color, the works.
Visible bows, instruments, whatnot. Perhaps capes.

Aside from cosmetic updates I wouldn't mind a couple new races, new jobs, new crafts, new missions and quests, the ability to jump, and/or an entirely new MMO.

Dragoons can already jump.

But more to the point, I'm seeing a whole new storyline, world, and all the things that go with it.

Since it is a Final Fantasy title, they'll most likely draw from the usual jobs, and convulute them into something MMOable. Like others, I'd like to see a full blown Geomancer (Sch was FFXI's poor answer for it) and a Time Mage.

Though it wouldn't hurt for them to think of something entirely new that we haven't seen as a type of class in any FF, but that's a stretch. So long as it is an RPG you'll need a tank, a healer, and something to blow other things up.

What I would really like to see is total character customization. Age, race, gender, then really get in depth with physical appearance. Not only height, but build of muscles (or fatness), a wider variety of hairstyles, and even down to having different facial features, such as seperately adjusting the size of eyes, noses, ears, and mouths, and perhaps even the ability to have scars. Beyond that even having characters have the option of being related to each other, such as parents, siblings, and people getting together to even create a whole family tree of some sort.

But then again, that may be asking and/or expecting too much from SE.

More interaction with the world - Yes, it looking pretty is nice, but being able to scale a cliff or to climb a mountain or fly through the skies would be amazing, also jumping is a necessity these days.

A revamped battle system - More interaction from the player, but still not requiring a button press for every blade swipe. Also, shorter battles against regular enemies would be welcomed. Bosses can still take some time to kill, though.

Gameplay that is not an obvious grind. Lots of things to keep you occupied no matter what level you are (this means other things besides raiding endlessly at level cap). Customizable UI. More tools for Linkshells/guilds. More character customization.

The list goes on and on. Most of all though, I would love to see a truly innovative game from Squenix that takes everything that is good about FFXI and Final Fantasy in general, leaves everything that is bad, and builds on it. I hope they've learned from their mistakes and have a solid, well-polished game for us next year.

Agreed with everything except the requirement to eat and drink food.
I haven't played Everquest, but... there was a similar feature in a Korean MMORPG called Mabinogi, and it's just such an annoyance.

I would really hate any sort of stamina/hunger system, lol.

Also, I'm totally in favor of a more in-depth character creation system.

Tons of faces, hairstyles, body types, height, and age would be amazing.

Skin color is probably asking too much. You might get a Hume model that's actually black this time but he'll of course be completely stereotypical and look like Mr. T.

1) A good crafting system. FFXIs was interesting and unique in my opinion but was pretty crap.

2) The ability to customize your job slightly to make yourself stand out from the others while not at merit level and STILL be viable. Such as Dual Axe Warrior, Great Sword Warrior, Axe and Shield Warrior. All three would be different but viable. (always hated being pigeonholed into a certain weapon set up cause one weapon is a grade higher or lower than the other)

*Let us customize our characters more!! PLEASE PLEASE!!

*Add a new race or two... or three...

*Make crafting a little more fun and interactive.

*Like I said before no 6 hour long Chocobo quests. =(

*Different jobs... like Assassin or other jobs from FF games that arent in this one.

*Um... more...stuff I can't think of atm... XD

Oh oh thought of it...

*Dont make it to where you have to dedicate your LIFE and 60 hours a week to the game just to get good gear. Make it more causal player friendly!!!! Some of us have to work, or go to school... or both in my case.

*Please do holiday events in the new MMO, but make them different from the ones we do now!

*Let us bring our tokens (and our satchels) over into FFXIV... I mean we did pay for them so you BETTER be using them with the new game. -_-

Graphic wise:

1) Huge face customization (like winning eleven).
2) Moderated body customization, weight, height, skin color, fatness.
3) Further customization once inside the game, Hair stile, tattoos, scars, make-up.

Roll wise:

1) Aging (this could really make a difference)
2) Emotes with voice performance.
3) Emotes that include other characters.
4) Expanded Linkshell rank system/decorations.
5) EASIER MARRIAGE SYSTEM!!!!!

System wise:

1) Increased macro length(we can't say this enough).
2) More command freedom.
3) Auto-training system.
4) No Utsusemi.
5) Smarter AI.
6) No equipment change during battle(this crap just encourage the grinding system and overflowed inventories)

Character wise:

1) More jobs (30-35 to give more character identity, or entirely get rid of the job system)
2) More races (10-15 that is actually further character customization)
3) More abilities (time to put skill over equipment definitely)
4) Further encouragement to one-character-only schema.

Others( this is a personal request but I consider it highly unlikely):

1) Game playing quota:
i.e.
a) Max 8 hours a day.
b) Max 40 hours a week.
c) Max 150 hours per month.

Honestly is time to provide a more responsible service, and take those society parasites out of our game.

Sincerely.

Ken.

I know people hate hearing something like this, but maybe they could do the Blizzard idea of making time offline count towards rested XP, so you sort of get rewarded for being offline for lengths of time and don't feel like it's harming your character to leave him once in a while.

Depending on the route they go with this, would be nice to see the inclusion of some features found in FFXII, such as clans (which would act like linkshells, but with more involvement such as scoreboards, clan vs. clan PvP, etc.), bounty hunts, easy teleportation between certain crystals, some of the newer spells (such as Bubble), and fast paced battling.

However, no gambit system please!

Holy ****, really? The lines between jobs and races would be so ******* blurry. I think the cool thing about FFXI is that each job is very different and each race has it's own strengths/weaknesses. Sure, there would still be variation, but I think that's way too many.

Aging sounds really cool, but I've never liked the idea of total customization (changing skin tone and body shape), it seems like it's way more work on SE's part for little (if any) gain. And what do you mean by auto-training? Built in bots?

I'd like to see visible rings/earrings/capes like pikko said.

Ya basically, I have experienced other games with the option and is quite nice for things that doesn't require 100% of your attention, skill up, farming, fishing, crafting, etc.

The best would be to remove the whole grinding thing at all but that isn't going to happen so at least give ppl to option to avoid wasting their time.

This is going to seem weird, but I think only certain mages should
have the ability to transport themselves for one reason or another,
one way or another, that's just part of the advantage of being a
mage. Everyone else should have to either use those mages, or another
believable (in a final fantasy game) mode of transport. In other
words I think you should have to use a PC mage to teleport, or
use a mount to travel quickly. Maybe sellable scrolls or certain events
can teleport you, but thats it. Airships too. Oh yeah, having your own
Airship and being a Corsair would be awesome if the travel was somewhat
restricted otherwise ^^

auto-regen/refresh should be a passive trait regardless of job. Resting or spells/JA's should only enhance. This would speed up the pace and reduce down time. It is incredibly boring resting for 3-5min to fill your hp, not to mention rediculous.

One's man meat may be another man's posion. It's hard to expect everyone to agree to the same thing so let's agree to disagree. My list is as follows:

- More character customization options during character creation
Will be very nice if a wider variety of skin tones, hair styles, hair colors are made selectable. Running into clones of yourself (PC or NPC) in an MMORPG somewhat spoils part of the fun, making you feel like you are not that unique after all. I wouldn't mind selectable facial tattoos or even selectable body shape (for female characters :x).

- Higher degree of character differentiation/specialization
What others had mentioned, probably a Skill Grid or a Skill Tree format. SE can probably take ideas from the current Merit Point System and apply it to the skills gained when leveling up.

- Ability to play solo and not forced into LFG to level up
Making it easier to solo for EXP rather than forced to wait for a PT saves time. Level Sync, FoV and Campaign are nice ideas but I believe soloing experiences can be further improved in the up-coming game.

- Ability to jump and swim (or dive beneath the water surface)
It is highly doubtful SE will let us fly (i.e. Aion, Perfect World) but I'll be perfectly contented with jumping and swimming.

- Provide instances for all End-game contents
So that multiple groups can enter and participate at the same time (much like Nyzul Isle Assault and Salvage). Queueing for 1-2 hours or having to give up on a Dynamis or Limbus zone because it is occupied kills the enjoyment of the game.

- Realm vs. Relam or PvP zones
Certain zones will be designated as RvR or PvP zones. If you eneter these zones, you are agreeing to participate in RvR or PvP, making it free game for all. Of course players have the freedom to decide if they wish to enter or by-pass these zones.

- Better underwear (for Elvaan males)
I think Elvaan males look silly in tights. The various Festive Event swim wear makes for better underwear (if you ask me).

Purchasable buildings for linkshells to use as there headquarters with customizable flags to hang from them.
Shop NPCs within said building for linkshells to sell items.
Buildings to be upgradeable so you can tell the stature of a linkshell by looking at them.
No zoning the whole world should be one zone.
Improved atmosphere by not having the same background music playing all the time or at least fade it out when:

I walk into the local inn I would like hear people drinking and being merry
I walk past the town minstrel it would be nice to hear what he is playing.

Boarder cities that can fall to Beastmen if not defended and be retaken by players by fighting the hordes back across the boarders.
The boarder of each nation should move each week according to cities that have fallen or have been captured this should then effect items for sale and level of mobs in corresponding areas.
More mobile NPCs as I think its a shame when NPCs that are not shop vendors just standing around.
Harvesting from mob corpses like in monster hunter.(Maybe a new job class based around this)

And many more things but that will do for now.

FFXIV: *Action button* *Character hoists him/herself up the 1m cliff - Taru do a comical little jump+leg-wiggle+struggle that'll make you want to do it over and over again*

Auto-jump ala Zelda 64 games would be nice as well.

Actual jump button? You get the jump-syndrome. Bunch of people get together, hold down jump button. Boing boing boing. You see a bunch of heavily armoured, highly realistic, HD characters bouncing up and down looking utterly ridiculous. You see people bouncing into battle, boing boing boing. You see people bouncing down the road, boing boing boing. They don't wish to discrimnate Taru so you see Taru jumping highly-unrealistic distances into the air, boing boing boing...

"THAT'S IT THE NEXT PERSON WHO JUMPS IS OUT OF THE SHELL"

Okay I might of overdone it but, can you see what I mean? These kinda character models just don't suit well to jumping-at-any-time.

* Also, crafting means you actually go and perform each action. Like you go mine some rock, smelt some ore, hammer some arrow heads, chop down some trees, fashion some arrows, attach arrow heads to said arrows... voila 10 arrows~! of course, considering the amount of effort, that'd give you say 1000 arrows or so, despite 'unrealism', if that's even a word. Yes I played runescape when I was younger, don't judge me! D:<
