What job classes would y'all like to see in this FF? Looking at the official site:

http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/

there is a huge concept art pic that shows a couple of jobs, including White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, Dancer, and probably other jobs I can't distinguish too clearly.

But other than the possible returning jobs, what new jobs would you like to see in this game? By new, I mean to the FF Online community, not the FF series in general.

My channel with FFXI battle music and hard to find songs that were not even released on Original Soundtracks.

I also plan on uploading FFXIV music when the game is released.

We already have that in Bacon Knight though.FFXI has bacon mages, so FFXIV gets Bacon Knights. It's a simple concept, and I think it'll catch on Smiley: grin

From the looks of the trailer, the world seems to be a bit more advanced with machinery. I'd wager that staple jobs WHM,BLM,WHM,WAR,MNK,RDM,RNG,SMN will all be there for the ride.

I'd also think that jobs like chemist, onion knight, engineer(very likely to happen with those things flying around, someones got to fix em).

We could also find ourselves dealing with the sorta tactical job system. Where we all start as a token Squire/freelancer and work our way through points or quests to narrow our path to a particular job.

The spear could easily be a lancer too, ya never know.

Also chocobo knight is a real possiblity. since the guy is riding one, but the others arent.

I hope they add puppetmaster or a puppetmaster-like class. I really like the concept of the job, and I adore the cute automaton. It's a shame the addition/updates/whatnot of PUP was poorly executed in XI.

Ok, well I know in the past FF games dancer and bard were designated for female and male characters respectively. In FFXI, they changed that, which I am completely fine with. However, at the same time they also specified the differences in the roles each of these jobs play. Made them more unique. So now we have a dancer and a bard. Well, where is the song mage? Yes, I know that bard kind of covers that already, but I would like to see it as its own class. Bard can keep doing what they do with buffing, and debuffing, and whatnot. However, I would like to see them only using instruments. Then that could make room for a song mage class. Maybe make the song mages focus more on direct damage spells?

Anyways, the reason I want to see this is that I am huge D&D fan. I read a lot of the novels Wizards of the Coast put out. I have seen concepts similar to the song mage in the anime "AH MY GODDESS", and the "Lunar" RPG series. But I recently got through with a great trilogy from the Forgotten Realms universe called "The Lady Penitent". I wont bore you with the details of the story line. If you like this sort of thing, read it yourself. I will however say that one of my favorite concepts of the book was how the priestesses did battle with beautiful songs of prayer to their goddess. I just loved the sound of the warrior/priestesses called Dark Song Knights too. Ok, so I am not trying to turn FFXIV into D&D, I just would like to see song mages as a new job class.

On a side note, song mage or no song mage, could we maybe have a different music or song for each spell? Just a thought.

Oh btw, for those that just can't visualize the concept of the feel of a song mage, here are some youtube links:

When they announced FFXIV I wanted to go back to FFXI and play for a while, but I knew I'd burn out on it fast and get frustrated, so instead I started playing FFXII again. That said, I'm really hoping for something along the lines of Sky Pirate. Bonus points if he comes with a silly British accent.

Totally need Holy Knight. Not a paladin mind you but the kind of job that Agrias from FFT was. Personally liked her over T.G Cid. But yeah the concept of Sword Saint, and Holy Knight's different but similar sword skills is awesome.

As long as they have the original 6 from XI and BST, I'll be happy... well, SMN too, even though I don't play 'dat.

If they can work in a way to include Magic Mormon Underwear, though, I'd be all for whatever job wears that.

Really, underwear isn't such a bad idea... another couple of gear slots...

I would love to see something like an Alchemist - a job that allows the player to combine typical, regular items (like the stuff mobs drop), with potions, etc., during combat to produce special attacks and what-not. Similar to what Rikku did in FFX, or the job that was available in X-2 (called Alchemist, I think?).

Call me boring, but...just more classic Final Fantasy jobs. I can't think of any non-FF jobs that I feel like are cooler and need to be in the game before traditional ones like Geomancer and stuff.

An Engineer would be awesome, especially since it's going to be a higher tech level. Of course, one that does more than just have a gun.

well bacon classes aside <i dont know why but i cant say baconmage without laughing a LOT...maybe its because its 5 in the morning and i havent slept yet *shrugs* regardless thats funny as ****>

old returning jobs ide like to see

key: * = non negotioable

-whm*, staple*
-blm*, also staple*
-war*, too basic to not have*
-thf*, gotta have it*
-pld, one of my favorite classes
-drk, did i mention i like knights =0
-drg, see the above
-sam, dont make me repeat myself
-mnk*, there should be an H2H class*
-rng*, gotta have the ranged class*
-rdm*, i just really like it. and its always useful to have a rdm around
-smn*, c'mon...get with the program. theyve had several games where summoning in one way or another is pretty much waht drove the story...i dont think they'll leave it out

new jobs

key: * = 1/2 joking 1/2 serious. ** = not serious

-knight, bet you didnt see that coming! sacrifices magic of drk and pld to be a true hybrid of the 2, strong attack and defense <though a balanced amount that wont put either of the others out of the job>

-onion knight, see a pattern?

-time knight*, ***** time mages, they are a thing of the past <get it, past...time. :p yes i know, terrible pun, it was an accident really>

-chocobo knight, otherwise known as the chicken knight, or the sesame street knight

-mage knight*, i guess its a weird drk...

-jedi knight*, wrong universe? maybe. awesomesauce with a side of omfg amazing? definately

-nighty knight**, the sleepy knight

-cactuar knight**, spent so much time riding cactuars, their butts have toughened...making it impossible to kick their butts

-geomancer, turning the entire world into a weapon

-time mage, if my time knight is totally unreasonable for you narrowminded people out there XD lol

-sage, a non melee redmage, completely dedicated to magic

-viking/berserker

-pilot, its supposed to be more sciencefictiony right? maybe they can be inside a vehicle of some sort <some mini robot armor, nothing extravagent. think of a much smaller version of rikku's machina maw dresssphere from x-2> and thats their armor. instead of buying traditional armor, they buy parts for the mech they ride in. so instead of buying say, i dunno, a glove...they would buy a mech hand

-something i didnt say that i nwould enjoy, it should have knight at the end!!!
