I would really love to see a system in FFXIV akin to Public Quests from Warhammer. Public Quests are area-specific, ongoing quests that are automatically assigned to each player that enters the area. All players work toward completing that same quest, if they choose to participate.

Public Quests typically involve several (most commonly 3) stages and conclude with a large fight against one or more Hero tier opponents. When a public quest is completed, each player who participated will receive a reward based on his contribution to the whole.

I found PQ's to be the most innovative, fun, and rewarding aspect of WAR and would love to see SE copy it. What does everyone else think?

I played WAR to 20ish with a chopper. I did quite to go back to WoW, then FFXI again, but the public quests were super cool. Good idea

I think not a lot of responses because not a lot of people played WAR ^.^ people seem to like your idea though.

I didn't care too much for public quests, but there was a comment in the QA about how they want scenarios where many people are fighting many things, which could be akin to a public quest.

One thing I like about WAR are the tactics, as a method of customization.

Looks like S-E is going to keep (and expand) the Job system. Something like "tactics" could be a method to expand it.

It's way too early to really speculate. I know I'm going to turn prematurely old waiting for this game.

The public quest system was very good. It was effective at getting several players in an area to come together and cooperate when they might otherwise solo antisocially. You got to interact with other people and be rewarded for doing so.

What was also great about the system was the lack of commitment. Anyone could join in for any of the tree segments of the PQ. You didn't have to start from the beginning to get a reward. This helped increase the spontaneous nature of players grouping together for a common goal.

I think it is a great idea to implement in any MMORPG, but I doubt SE is going to.

Sounds kind of like FFXI's holiday events. Having stuff like that ongoing would be a nice feature.
