I wonder if they will keep people from all over the world on servers, and force us to use auto-translate. Or, if they learned from the past and have servers based on location or language.
At first in ffxi, I thought it was really cool to play with people from around the world, but after awhile, trying to communicate has become really annoying. Not to mention different playstyles, and competition between the cultures and the friction it has caused.

I have no problems playing with japanese players. It adds a certain degree of connection to that other side of the world. Were they to decide not to or to have payers by language then I really wouldn't mind. I made a lot of japanese friends even if some don't speak so much of a fluent english.

They have already stated cross-region, cross-plattform, same as FFXI.

I also enjoyed the company of the Japanese players. They were often more competent in parties even when we only had auto-translate and their innovative party styles I joined worked much better than I would have given them credit to. Might also be because I am Australian and they are generally on around the same time.

I believe the nice things about having players from all over the World on the server is that the server is busy for people at all playing times. If I'm up at 3am and play WoW... it can be dead because so many people are asleep.

However, you can easily offend people from different cultures without even knowing it, even when trying to be polite. The auto-translator doesn't do a good enough job between the difference in cultures as to make sure you aren't insulting somebody when you're really just trying to say "thanks".

I'm sure auto-translate will get a reboot and playing with japanese and people from across the world.
I had a few jp friends on ragnarok back in the day.

I'm personally quite happy they're keeping worldwide servers. I play at odd times, and this way there's always someone on, even if there is a bit of xenophobia sometimes.

I hope PC and PS3 players can play in the same world and we keep playing with JP,guys

They can be racist, but iam glad everytime i log in the game i see 2 - 3k players Online

Other games like Phantasy star universe etc. they separate JP servers USA servers, even other games separate servers EU/NA/JP. games like that are totally death now.

I really hope SE, again make PC/ps3 users can play togheter and all JP/EU/NA. still sharing the servers. it dont will likeme if they separate the servers.

They're going to keep the servers mixed?! Woot! Thank God. We've won against segregation again. Separate but Equal never worked anyway :p

I swear though, they better give us a JP IME this time... available on all consoles and all versions of FFXIV.

I'll just throw it out there again for good measure: Those of you who worry about communication problems should just learn Japanese. Its difficulty is overhyped by pre-pubescent anime-lovers who have no real wish to learn a foreign language. Ask any college student who has studied it and they'll tell you the grammar is easy as cake compared to things like Spanish or German.

i agree, give us IME this time, or even the option to purchase as an extra if liscensing fees for IME are a problem.

and **** to prejudices, if you can get to talk with them they're really polite people

just, please, I hope there will be the chance to write in japanese in-game without having to copypaste ._.

I like the servers being mixed - thanks to interacting with players from all over the world, I've made some great friends, learned swearwords in multiple languages, watched films and listened to music I'd never have found otherwise, and generally just enjoyed myself .

SE stated, in their Q&A at E3, I think, that all the servers would once again be cross-region and cross-platform, so no worries! I always thought part of the magic of FFXI was from that worldly feel you get from so many different people in so many different places, even on different platforms.

I've often opted to play w/ jp players more than NA players, due to skill, politeness, and other stuff...alot of NA players ego were to much for me and I just wanted to enjoy the game. I did have NA frirends though that just loved to enjoy the game...but they were a task to find after going through the many hordes of idiots.
