An entry on DER BLOG, the official blog for Dog Ear Records, officially confirms Nobuo Uematsu's return to compose the score for Final Fantasy XIV. DER BLOG rejoices that Nobuo Uematsu will not only be involved, but he is set to be compose every single track for the new MMO, something he has not done for the venerable series in over 10 years, although he had a hand in FFIX and FFXI.

In case anyone is around HMV Records in Shinjuku come late June, Uematsu is scheduled to have a meet & greet on the 28th where he will sign autographs. However, the event is for the soundtrack to Guin Saga, which is an anime series, so don't expect any FFXIV tidbits there. :)

Anxious Uematsu fans can feel free to discuss his triumphant return to the series in this thread.

*Dog Ear Records is Nobuo Uemtasu's own video game music company.

10 years? He was in 11.

Edit: Oh, nevermind, you meant 11, not 9.

It was more he hadn't been the main composer creating the full score of a game for around 10 years. Fixed the wording to express that better.

Double Woot! I always loved to hear his music and wish they had a dear friends concert in San Antonio.

Oh and grats on the new CM gig. Hope you still have time for the JP button because it's always a good read at work.

I love Nobuo's work so much, I'm not exagerating when I say I have every OST from 1 up til 11.
FF12's best track imo was the ending credits, and they were, no suprise, done by Nobuo too. But the rest was just too samey, something that Nobuo never does in his music.

Mizuta has done some good work on FFXI, and Tanioka too (to be honest I prefer her tracks over his), but they had really hard footsteps to follow in, and you just can't beat the veteran no matter how hard you try lol.

I'm hoping for even more memorable tunes to hum to as Nobuo always delivers!

Is it customary to praise and rejoice at the very mention of Uematsu's name? I love the man's work. It's fantastic, and he's proven that he can create an incredibly wide range of music--almost always good. But I am honestly disappointed at this decision. Mizuta's work in FFXI was fantastic. So many fantastic and memorable tunes...I'm sure I'll love Uematsu's work. "The best final fantasy game," is their goal, right? So it's only natural that they get the classic FF composer back on the job.

Regardless; I'll miss you, Mizuta.

Uematsu is really good, but there's some other great japanese people out there as well.

I bet he's doing every bso pieces at first, then expansions will have other people for music, not just him.
